Why is it controversial for villains to do bad things?
>>
>>153588009
There's certain things fictional character can't do online. A character could murder a billion people and still be someone's "fluffy scrumbly bingus" but if they rape or touch a single person they're suddenly marked for life even if it happened in one iteration.
>>
>>153588009
Some people want sanitized entertainment.
>>
>>153588009
Evil people with no concept of reality like to playbpreyend badguy.
Also everyone is being trained to think life isnt precious and weaponize sexuality.
>>
>>153588009
Except Deathstroke isn't the villain of some highbrow drama, he's a capeshit character and he's meant to exist for decades, sell merchandise and appear in multiple adaptations often directed at kids. You can erm ackshually all you want but the idea of someone being a rapist affects a normal person at a deeper level than them being a murderer. Sexuality is a major part of a person's brain and we're wired to be repulsed but those who violate sexual norms.

No

He didn’t rape Terra.
>>
>>153588674
You can extend that post to characters like Dr. Light. Terra being a bpd bitch who's somewhat responsible for what happened to her is a hard sell to "modern audiences"
>>
>>153588009
People have a hard time thinking of the usual hero vs villain shenanigans as something "real." So when the villain does something that hits closer to home it catches them by surprise even it's actually not worse than any of the other shit they've done.

He should team up with BabyDoll

Deathstroke fucking a kid is still kind of weird even for drama shit. Slade doesn't seem like the kind of guy who'd fuck children if it meant he'd kill batman.
>>

>He didn’t rape Terra.
correct he groomed her
>>
>>153589661
No. She groomed him.
>>
>>153588674
It's statutory rape depending on where she's from, even if she's emancipated.

can we skip the lame safe safe comic versions of his feud with titans that ends with the females his cute panty bondage pets and the males brainwashed helpers or dead already?

like im kinda wierd autism about protecting starfire but can we just get to the she's enslaved in bondage to him part so I can autism rage finally? this dick tease is annoying.

Villains don't exist anymore, since Californians will forgive any act except disagreeing with them.

Rape and being a diddler are two things that can break a villain's marketability (look at Doctor Light post-Identity Crisis or Talia al Ghul after Grant Morrison made her a date rapist and then cloned said rape baby when he preferred his daddy more and then created a more compliant clone of him with accelerated aging to merc the OG and then crashed out on sad clone for doing precisely what she ordered him to because she is just insane as a projection of they/them's IRL self-admitted unresolved mommy issues)

A big part of the problem is that DC wanted to make him "honorable" as a Dark Batman but that doesn't really work when you have him grooming and fucking a teenager because that veers from "Cool Villain" and "Love to Hate" to just being Diddystroke.

Again, with Arthur Light he became a one-dimensional serial rapist as his sole characterization and even his pseudo-resurrection in Blackest Night due to how much raping Sue Dibny subsumed his entire legacy.

I wonder if she would have liked Respawn

>groomed by a 15 yr old
is Deathstroke mentally 10 years old or something
>>
>>153588009
Talia raped Batman and barely anyone gives a shit so the problem is that Deathstroke doesn't have big boobs
>>
>>153592204
People actually mention that a lot. It's like how nightwing canonically gets raped a lot by women and two times were by raven.
>>
>>153589703
It's all legal in Markovia

Only the mentally ill.

Terra was 15 so its not even that bad
>>
>>153588009
>people love evil characters for some reason
>we are at the point where any criticism of something is automatically read as a personal attack by that thing's fans
Frankly, if I call an evil character a bad person, and you, as a fan of that character, take that to mean I'm calling you a bad person... you're kinda telling on yourself as a bad person.

>American comic has a pervert character
UGH gross...can we PLEASE reboot this so he isn't a perv but still a villain
>Manga has a pervert character
HAHAHAH he's my favorite character!! (also he's a hero)

Because the new generations are so thin skinned that even the antagonist can't deviate from the very constrained acceptable norm. It's a trickle down progression.
>grey villains are better than black and white ones
>grey villains turn to "hey he had a point you know"
>the "point" cannot be anything truly radical or polarizing because it becomes a threat if it picks up steam
>ergo more and more every generation is used to even the antagonist being just a bit more extreme case of the hero who wants to preserve the ideological status quo of acceptable norms, he just wants to kill some people, which just so happen to be the ones the average normgroid hates
There you have it. It's all a slippery slope. We've reached the point where there cannot be anything, not even a villain, that deviates from accepted norms of conduct. It's all a charade.

I for one totally understand why he smashed Tara Markov.

Ontological Evil vs Societal Evil and Personal Evil are all different shades. Murder? Theft? Lying? Rape? Smoking? Swearing? Jay-Walking? Genocide? Just put them on the spectrum, buddy. And remember this is for actual children who think $100 is a lot of money.

Talia passed through Morrison unscathed, Batman defending her after she committed a genocide did far more damage.
>>
>>153588009

Problem with Deathstroke, like Joker, is that DC thinks of him as a "brand" and that means he's protected by writers/editors from consequences. When you have a character like that, you can't have them do anything particularly evil or people will get upset from the fact that he never gets a proportional comeuppance. I'm referring in particular to the case in Nu52 where Deathstroke dropped Chemo on Bludhaven killing hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians and never got any kind of a punishment for it.

(Fucking Terra is not even evil and is pure neo-puritan bullshit as it was clearly consensual.)

Batman not wanting to arrest her for it because it would make Damian sad was bad for everyone involved

Geo-Force should be allowed to kick Bruce's ass
