Humor is such a subjective thing. I don't know that any one person really knows what's funny.

Garfield may be a popular comic-strip character
>>

the very basis of my sense of humor was formed by this man

Luckily I'm the type of person who doesn't find a cat stealing a pipe all that funny, but I find it fucking hilarious that someone would make a passive aggressive 1 hour monologue about the above.

Humor is, at its most bare, stripped-down basis, surprise. You can be afraid of something whether or not it jumpscared you, in fact sometimes slow, compounding fear can be the worst of all, but comedy HAS to be a surprise. Laughter is how we react to that surprise, and the little endorphine rush is your brain saying 'something you didn't see coming just happened, better get ready to deal with it'
It's why comedians are fans of other comedians. the surprise of the joke stimulates THEIR brains to come up with another joke, to handle the surprising event.

There's a lot of fantastic humor in garfield, especially in the early 90s, and of course on Garfield and Friends.

I show this entire show every time someone brings up the ‘but Jim Davis makes more money than you ever will’ argument

If the person is my friend, I harass them and force them to watch it.

lol but also fuck you

I think comedy is more aptly defined as a subversion of expectations

I haven't seen a cartoon that was honestly funny in like ten years but I don't know if that's just me

It’s thanks to Garfield and Friends that I’m still on the fence about Wyoming really existing.

He found the universal source of humor
Funny animals have been known to be the universally beloved genre of jokes since ancient greece
Joke about a donkey eating figs killed a stoic phillosopher via excessive laughter
If Chrisyppuus saw the pipe comic he would explode

I like comic strip humor.
It might be hit or miss but it beats watching shartyjaks all of the time.

Lasagna Cat is proof I live in a simulation. I still can't believe me being 18 and my sister being 13 appearing on the finale. How the fuck did I get so lucky to find someone to watch nearly 5 hours of shitposting to be a lifelong friend?
Garfield makes me smile every Sunday when I get the paper. I even went to his hometown even before that fat bastard on the youtube, who wishes he was Dan Schnieder, did it ./spoiler] Garfield is an American icon and seeing him parodied is the biggest laugh.
Giblert Garfield will always remain my favorite animation.
