Mediocre. A slice of life story is novel in American comics, but any bog standard SoL manga I've read is more engaging and visually interesting.

That's what seems like the big difference between how Japan does genres and how American indie genres work, Japanese artists will put the same effort into any genre as action comic/manga with effort into depicting interesting angles and dynamics, American indie feels ashamed by this and it's all just dull fucking flat shots everywhere. American indie is so obsessed with not being mainstream superhero comics they also reject the concept of interesting shots or visuals because they find it distracting, unless it's some overwrought graphic design panel wank.
