Why Shion Takeuchi suddenly banished after the cancelation of Inside Job?

>>153605322she had her chance and it didn't go well according to them, what other projects could she have now?
>>153606085>soft blacklistedwhat the fuck are you talking about? There's no such thing. You idiots think everyone gets blacklisted all the time. Hirsch isn't blacklisted. He's just got masterpiece syndrome so it's unlikely he'll put out another show any time soon, however he still has clout. Disney just did a fucking book with him not too long ago. >>153606098>It's common for creatives to go years without a projectthis. Aside from the fact that companies keep merging, budgets keep getting slashed, and nobody is greenlighting anything these days, showrunning is an extremely stressful round the clock type gig and burnout is real. Most show runners take a good long break after their show wraps. This was the case with Terrace, Sugar, Hirsch, Ward, Nefcy, JQ, Braly, etc.
>>153606085Wouldn't that go to Hirsch and not Shion?

>>153606570I'll believe it when I see it. That show has been on again/off again for like 10 years. The premise sounds fucking stupid anyway. Also, Seth Rogan.

>>153606602She didn't "cheer". She did get excited to discover her baby had blue eyes, but then examined why she felt that way because she thought it was odd that it would have that much of an effect on her. It was during the contemplation of why that was that the idea for Blue Eye Samurai came about.
>>153606639what a fucking lunatic>>153606619the episode devoted to ryan's parents was particularly telling
>>153606619most of the anons who complain about the show either didn't watch it, completely whiffed it on the interpretation, or are /pol/tards trying to stir the pot. I don't know how anyone can watch it and come away thinking that the show is trying to convince you that "white people = bad".
>>153606613>The concept was conceived 15 years ago, after the birth of Noizumi and co-creator Michael Green‘s daughter. She has born with blue eyes, prompting the half-Japanese Noizumi to wonder, “Why am I so excited that my daughter has blue eyes? What’s the big deal about that? And why am I so excited that I have a baby who looks more white?”https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv/tv-features/blue-eye-samurai-michael-green-amber-noizumi-interview-1235636619/

>>153605322Being near Alex Hirsch is the animation equivalent of standing next to the demon core.
>>153605322I wouldn't blame Shion for taking a break. She invested so much time and energy into making Inside Job--a show she clearly holds near and dear to her own life experiences--and even though it amassed a following and had plenty of potential for more seasons, Netflix randomly decided they'd go back on their word and can it. This showrunning game is rigged af
>>153607631has she tried making a good show that played up its premise instead of half-assing it?
>>153607658Inside Job's core premise was two coworkers-turned-friends pushing past the expectations forced upon them in the hopes of actually doing some good for the world. The "every conspiracy is real" gimmick was just the set dressing that'd allow for some fun sci-fi adventures. It was a cool action/adventure series and an emotionally rich found family series. The comedy was so-so overall, but I'm sure that would've improved come Season 2
>>153607703>>153607631I think what would have helped more, if Netflix wasn't selling it as a R&M clone, which they were pretty much advertising it as one.
>>153607748I wouldn't be surprised if Netflix pressured her into having it resemble Rick and Morty at least a little bit.

>>153606423>>153606098Very few people in tv showrun more than a single show their entire careers. If anything it's actually more common in cartoons than live-action due to the smaller talent pool.
>>153609900oh wait, I thought the anon I was responding to was talking about Blue Eye Samurai. I saw "hapa" and the discussion preceding the comment and jumped to conclusions. I couldn't make it through Inside Job. It was trying to be comedic but every single punchline was so predictable and eye-roll inducing that I had to turn it off midway through the first episode.
>>153609824If 98% of the food that has a specific ingredient tastes like shit to you, you'd be pretty stupid not to be apprehensive about a new recipe involving that same ingredient. Between that and the premise of the show being that Darkwing Duck is no longer actually able to be Darkwing Duck...what the fuck are you looking forward to?
>>153607794I feel like this artist is one good example of an artist becoming obsessed with a character and convincing others to watch by being so dedicated to drawing art of them that people like.

I still haven't seen season 2
>>153611270That version got scrapped according to Stones which mentioned the writters room got dissolved in 2024. This new interation is an actual sequel according to Jim Cummings
>>153617400That needs a disclaimer. All of Amazon's animated hits debuted with pre-established fan bases: Vox Machina/Mighty Nein came from Critical Role, Invincible was based on a popular superhero comic, and while Hazbin Hotel is very much an original pitch, something with years of VivziePop buildup online doesn't make for a very even playing field compared to shows that had to prove themselves; the Fairfaxes, #1 Happy Family USAs, and Second Best Hospital in the Galaxys. Another thing to mention is that Amazon isn't that far off from how Netflix handles its shows. All the aforementioned forgotten shows were picked up for 16 episodes each and then split into 2 "seasons." Netflix does the exact same thing.
>>153618339I will get excited for it when I have a reason to. Forgive me if I don't have a lot of faith in this considering the fact that they thoughtS U B V E R T I N G E X P E C T A T I O N S was a good idea at one point. There's no reason to believe that the next idea is going to do the original series any more justice. It's likely to be more slop that sucks itself off for being so fucking clever for making something about a superhero that isn't actually about a superhero.
>>153617430None of us have. It was pulled as they were in the middle of writing it.

>>153606085Unrelated but can we agree that the scrapped Hirsch show sounded like a budget nightmare?>CGI Animation>Toonboom Animation>Stop-Motion>Live-Action segments>Celebrity casting I respect the guy for trying to have everything at once in an animated but this was too ambitious even for a company that wasted 300 millon on that Electric State movie from The Russos...

>>153605322The real question is why did she draw herself as Mediterranean?
>>153623617>Stop-Motion I don't think the little TV dude was stop-motion; more like a faux-stopmo that Gumball tends to do with its claymation classmate character https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNkP5CleG9E But yes. The mixed-media approach seemed like a budget nightmare, and Hirsch should've read the room early on that Netflix cared more about attracting new subscribers than they did about animation. The latter was always a front. What they really valued was showrunners who could meet deadlines, something Hirsch clearly still struggles with.
I think the stop-motion elements would have been for the bgs and sequences featuring live-action like the test animation showed.

>>153630548I wonder where that puppet is now... Does Shion still pull it out every so often, or does she prefer to keep it out of sight lest be reminded of how Netflix slighted her?
>>153607703I think the show had really odd timing. That wasn't the reason it didn't succeed but it couldn't be brought back now when conspiracy theories have pushed over from something fun to not take too seriously to something that regular moms and office Joes discuss with sincere belief. Maybe it was better it ended when it did.
>>153623617It can’t be overstated how hard Netflix was selling itself to cartoonists about being the future of animation. They were new in town and invested in a few good shows, with a more permissive culture, so people believed them the same way Hollywood hopefuls believe Disney telling them the same thing on first arrival. Easy to see someone with a career like Hirsch not expecting the money to dry up, easy to imagine Netflix not telling him the money will dry up either.
>>153605322Because if it takes 3 hours of makeup to make you presentable you're too much work.

>>153626893>>153627918thought the same... probably would've been like Alex Hirsch's version of Unicorn Warriors Eternal. A complex mish mash of different art styles clashing together where nothing looks good and people only care about gooning to one or two characters (one of which gets killed off).
