Why do people hate this? I watched the show and admittedly it was better but I still don't understand the hate towards the comics.
>>
They look ugly as fuck and the joke wears thin.

How many times do we need this thread

>Why do people hate this?
because they have good taste, unlike you

Its literally
>Story deconstruction

>Contempt for the Genre

Edgy British writer who hate damn near everything that isn't in his bubble

Every boys comic thread just boils down to faggots like you seething that people prefer the comics over your faggot Amazon adaptation.
>>
>>153609776
ur stoopid
>>
>>153609815
>No argument
Cope. The boys comic is entertaining as fuck, and I'm tired of you Amazon shills coming out of the woodwork to white knight for that garbage.
>>
>>153609560
Read the whole thing not long before the series dropped, started off pretty promising, and the main Seven storyline was actually pretty engaging. Most of the side plots are thin as fuck though and boil down to "supe / group of supes threaten the Boys -> the Boys dig up some dirt and find out the supes are fucked up in some way -> the Boys curbstomp the supes". The Super Duper story was kinda nice, although it had too much pointless gross shit shoved into it, just like most of the comic. By the end I was kind of numb to all the shock factor and only kept reading to see how the main plotline ends. The whole Black Noir deal was the high point of the comic for sure.

Shut up, Enniscuck
>>
>>153609560
It's a horribly unfocused mess that has to actively retcon its early issues because major setting and plot points hadn't been ironed out yet, relies heavily on shock value and crudeness for pretty much everything, most of the characters are flat, VA swings between pants shitting retarded who can't do anything right and literally untouchable and capable of effortlessly wiping out any opposition without breaking a sweat depending on, and sometimes within, the story arc, the main plot relies on the murderous black ops squad and murderous evil superheroes trying to kill each other who all know each others identities, base of operations, and personal homes not killing each other in their sleep, it can't decide if it wants to be a satirical commentary on capes, the American comic industry, the MIC as a concept, or the military, corporations, and the Bush Administration specifically so any commentary or satire is surface level and brief at best, and if you've already read Ennis' prior works he isn't saying anything new. About the only truly interesting part is Ennis using Butcher to deconstruct his favorite character archetype but even that is "man constantly depicted as arrogant, manipulative, and violent sociopath turns out to be arrogant, manipulative, and violent sociopath."

You can skip the whole thing and just read the G-Man arc because it's the series in miniature.
>Butcher is a snarky cunt
>Hughie gets abused for laughs
>Mother's Milk, Frenchie, and The Female do nothing important
>violence and sexual abuse for comedy
>violence and sexual abuse for pathos
>superheroes are evil hedonistic retards
>corporation controlling superheroes are evil manipulative retards
>they all get shot to death by the military (PMC in this specific case but close enough) in the end
>>
>>153609870
No please, explain how the show that panders to your political ideology is so much better.
>>
>>153609745
>Contempt for the Genre
A lot of the stuff in Ennis's comics were critiques of actual people and trends that were prominent in the comic industry at the time
Like homelander wasn't created to shit on superman but to shit on the corporation who creates the IP knows as superman, he's depicting superman as an actual person created and raised by DC and saying that would result in a evil lunatic because they're a evil corporation.

People for some reason think that edginess (or just being able to call something edgy based on superficial first impressions like someone posting out of context page and making up the rest of the plot) is something bad or something to be ashamed of
Guess it's rooted in the subconscious yearning for /co/ being perceived as deep mature media and not mere entertainment.

No, they are both worthless

Ennis has single handily buck broken all of his contemporaries
>Neil Gaiman
Going to jail for rape
>Grant Morrison
Spending the rest of his life in the capeshit mines trying be respected as a real author
>Alan Moore
Recluse who’s wife left him for a lesbian
>Mark Millar
Closeted homosexual
>Warren Ellis
Fat incel
>Peter Milligan
Irrelevant
GOD Ennis is raking in the dough while he enjoys his time write ludokino war comics.
Kneel.
>>
>>153609560
Comic is entertaining enough, I couldn't make it through the first season of the Amazon show.
>>
>>153610729
Doesn't Morrison own a castle in scotland or was that before he burned through Invisibles money?
Also is Ellis back to writing? I thought he was cancelled for good.
>>
>>153609560
Yooooo we got Marshal Law at home!

For real though I've read Judge Dredd, Miracleman, Watchmen, Marshal Law, Injustice, Nemesis (the batman ripoff, not the warlock) and a chunk of Invincible and Irredeemable. I don't hate the Boys but it doesn't really grab me because it feels like everything its doing has been done before.
>>
>>153610783
I don't think the boys is at all similar to any of those except for the darker tone.
>>
>>153610858
Marshal Law is 100% about superheroes is being gay/retarded/whatever derogatory word you want to use. The Boys use that mainly as window dressing for a story about male friendship.
>>
>>153609560
>Why do people hate this?
becase of these:

>Posers
>snobs
>parrots
>parrots and youtube
>people who read the boys after 2012
>people who hadn't read the boys
>>
>>153610399
>the corporation
>yeah man fuck THE CORPORATIONS MAN it's like they're fucking evil
>*cashes paycheck from a corporation*
>*thrives because THE CORPORATION chooses to publish something you can mock*
I fucking hate Gen Xers so fucking much
>>
>>153610729
>Going to jail for rape
>>Grant Morrison

Wait what?
>>
>>153611542
Are you illiterate, he's talking about Gaiman's controversy
>>
>>153610773
Morrison still owns the castle, yes. Ellis is supposedly writing again, rumor is he's ghost-writing
>>
>>153610889
Not just that but there are very specific things in Marshal Law that you could tell The Boys was inspired by or lifted from. It's just that Mills and Ennis go in completely different directions with the characters
>>
>>153610858
could you explain how it's different?
>>
>>153610729
Insulting someone else as a closeted homosexual to prop up Ennis is a fucking laugh and a half.

>>153610773
Morrison's "castle" is more accurately described as a large, stone house. Also outside of Serious House on Serious Earth most of Morrison's wealth comes from owning rental properties, not comics.
