I dont know how people can get themselves excited for this sort of stuff anymore. Every pilot that comes out just feels so vapid. You know how Gen X'ers complain about Stranger Things doing 80's nostalgia poorly? That's how I feel about alot of these "2000's nostalgia" fueled pilots. Atleast this one got the look right, but the tone is just as messy as all the others.

I give them credit for this actually looking like a mid-00s "let's jump on the anime wave bandwagon" cartoon. It was a little all over the place though in terms of the dialogue, sometimes it felt pretty accurate and other times it felt too modern. Also I'm not really sure if "this cartoon looks like a cartoon from like 2005-ish" really has the legs for a full series.

The animation is good and the some jokes made me giggle. but there is some flaws.1- Work Better in your exposition. If you don't feel like having the main characters explain who they are and what they are doing Have a narrator do it. Or have the characters break 4 wall and be the narrator. Like Malcom in the Middle. 2- The visual jokes are good but don't relay solely on it. Can get old fast.3- I felt really just watching a good animation but felt left with no knownledgment of who these characters are and what they do and why. Are they heros? normal kids that have super powers? anyway its just a pilot but a little explanation of what is happening and a better polished scene timing and script can solve my grips. I had a hard time keeping my attention it, not because it was boring but many stuff was just happening visually with no explanation and only to be entertaining. I think a good reference to what they are aiming to do is Motorcity, it is fast paced, funny, inspired by anime as well. That is about it.I like it but it could be better.

This is really well done! I think some of the gags could have been toned down a bit...they fired at the viewer in such rapid succession that I kind of lost track of the actual plot. I think they tried to fit a lot in a very compressed time frame. That said, the animation was top notch. The voice acting was on point. The sound (which usually makes or breaks these things) was excellent. That goes for sound design which was appropriate, but also the recording/mixing of the actual voice actors. Nothing makes something seem cheap more than really bad audio, so great work there. The music could have been a bit more manic at times to really push the emotion and the sounds of the drums and synths often got lost in the sound design. I think working with a more distinct sound sources would help separate the two, although maybe it's a mix thing? I'm not an expert so who knows. All in all, I think this was a really fun high effort project. The writing and pacing could use a little work, but those are extremely nitpicky things.

When I look back at my favorite cartoons from that period I realize that I didn't like them just because they looked in a certain way but because the writing made them memorable and entertaining. The pilot was ok at best and has a lot of room to improve and it might actually achieve that if it gets a full series. However I wouldn't be interested in watching a series that's just "nostalgic aesthetic"
