Continuing the Mother's Day celebration with more Ana.
And that's the original run. Up next is the ana-thing's possible strips and her Rosebuds appearances.
And finally, the Rosebuds strips.
And that's all I got, after this it's mostly just misc art pieces. If I missed anything, feel free to post it, but thanks to all you guys that stuck it out with me to the end. Hope I get to see you all next year.
Oh yeah. don't forget to tell your mom you love her today!
>>153615027Kurami >>> rosebuds
>>153615402>>153615424I like that Rosa basically took Ana's place as the weirdo self-conscious single mother stand-in nobody likes and Ana's now her only friend that keeps her in check. It's like a passing of the torch.>>153616199I think they both have their strengths, but I can see why Rosebuds got more popular leaning more into being a comedy strip
>>153616199I feel line that's comparing Peanuts to Garfield. Rosebuds is going is a wildly different firection than LWK.
>>153617323what do you think the difference between Kurami and Rosebuds is?
>>153615445Thank you so much storytime anon! It's a warm tradition to read through Life With Kurami for Mother's Day, like watching A Charlie Brown Christmas over the Christmas Break. Spent most of it with family so only now catching up to it this year. Here's a little something for the occasion.>>153617406Tone. Both strips are vignettes of daily life, but Life With Kurami feels considerably more grounded than the larger-than-life routines of Rosebuds. The heart of LWK is in how raw and real it can feel, whereas Rosebuds' is the zaniness of the Gonzalez family with the odd gut punch here and there. Ana has her quirks, but for the most part she's just a loving mother living in a mundane world. Many of the strips are her reactions to and reflections on Kurami, lending the series a more introspective tone. Rosebuds has its fair share of that too, but it's mainly contained to Rosa and her inner pain. TL;DR LWK is more of a slice-of-life with comedic elements, Rosebuds is a slapstick comedy with slice-of-life elements.>>153617323 That's actually a pretty apt comparison, though it's funny considering how Zane is an unashamed send-up of Garfield.
>>153618201Your posts and arts are a highlight to these threads, anon, I hope you never stop. Also didn't consider how deep these comics had a potential of being. Always saw them as simple gag strips, but you really seem to see a bigger picture in them.
>>153618390Thank you kindly! Don't get me wrong, it IS still a comic strip when it's all said and done; but Ana's emotional vulnerability and her sense of humour is really endearing to me. You can really feel the love Dee has for his characters as well as see how he learns to utilize them more effectively over time.
>>153618628Oh, no don't take it the wrong way, I just find it fascinating that someone who was inspired by Garfield of all things is capable of making characters with as much depth as his have and seeing someone point out their nuances shows there is more to them than one would think.
>>153618201Nice work, anon!
>>153618201Always appreciate seeing some new Ana art.
>>153615421I was looking for a pic of Young Rosa the other day and i couldn't find it. Thanks
>>153615389Rosa's judging her for being a filthy weeb.
GIANTFUCKING MILKERS
>>153615027>NO BABY WHATEVER YOU DO DON'T SUCK MY TITTIES YOU'LL BE SMOTHERED DESPITE BIOLOGY PREVENTING THAT FROM EVER HAPPENINGAna was raped by Kurami's father wasn't she
>>153621443Anon she's raising her first kid. The whole point is she's still trying to figure things out despite being alone, with nobody to really talk to about these things. She has her Aunt and Bree, but neither have kids of their own so they're just as clueless. If she decides to have another kid she'd probably mellow out a lot more from sheer experience.
>>153617323>>153618201Man, now I'm imagining this series but animated in a similar vein as those Cathy specials. Could be comfy kino.https://youtu.be/IN2e208UnEA
Why does a blonde baby have a Jappo name
>>153622877It’s explained here >>153615389
>realize we’ve been following this guys work since the very beginningIirc when Kurami first started they were only ever in his local paper and posted to Facebook. Now he has a comic that’s in funny pages all over and crossing over with other comic strips and on the news and stuff. I don’t know how to describe the feeling but it really feels nice seeing how much Dee has grown since this comic and that he doesn’t feel ashamed of it to the point that he brought the characters over to his more successful and more recognized comic.
>>153615389This is the best explanation Dee could think of
>>153623864It does raise the implication the father was still around when, and some time after, Kurami was born.
>>153624363Well that's water under the bridge nowDid you know Rosa's parents traumatized her
