Now that the MCU isn’t really the all-encompassing phenomenon it once was, which marvel characters would you say are still recognizable to the general public?

Excluding the obvious Spider-Man, I’d probably vouch for
>all of the core Movie Avengers (Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Cap, Hawkeye on technicality, Scarlet Witch, Vision)
>the Guardians of the Galaxy (Movie-Quill, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Mantis, Gamora, Drax, maybe Yondu?)
>Thanos
>Loki
>Black Fury
>Black Panther

I'll add Daredevil to that list. Everyone seems to enjoy Daredevil and Kingpin on some level.

Strange and Carol had very successful (first) movies
Ant-Man's movies were not as successful but he had very memorable roles in Civil War and Endgame

People know who Falcon, Winter Soldier and War Machine are now but probably don't think of them as core Avengers
They probably know who Wasp is but think she's lame

Oh true, and he had that movie before the MCU too. Good pick.

Good point on Strange, though I think the sequel kind of killed a lot of his goodwill and I’ve still had people “who?” him when asked. The third eye doesn’t help.

Ant-Man I’ve also had people just not remember by now. I think most people associate him with that meme about expanding inside of Thanos’s asshole at this point.

if you really think that your opinions on the MCU are valuable anywhere outside of some marketing intern's research is, then you're a bigger faggot than you claim OP is

Carol's fall off definetly seems like it can't be ignored though. Best performing solo to worst performing marvel studios movie is crazy, even with context.

She had to share it with two other characters, one of whom is known to be absolute poison

Have you watched those disney films or read it some comics?

let's get real:

the general public is your grandma, your dad that is 65 years olf and your aunt that is almost 60 years.

And those 3 people only will know:

iron man, thor, hulk and maybe captain america

the rest are a bunch of nobodies or comicbook tier or B-listers

Not disagreeing but it's crazy that Marvel stopped pushing Carol as hard, but is still putting Kamala in everything, even though that's the opposite of what my takeaway would be.

Kamala, as poorly written as she is, is more compelling than Carol. Not to sound cold, but a character, man or woman, without any true weaknesses is a pretty boring read/watch. I would argue Monica and Kamala are more likeable than Carol has ever been.
In order for Carol to be sellable in any capacity, they would have to kill the KSD version completely and reboot her back to her Ms. Marvel version. Otherwise we will continue to see this downward trend until Marvel either caves or reboots itself.

It's not about likeability. It's about which character is more popular/well known.

Likability is what allows a character to be popular. Just because you shoot a character to the top of the list (Carol) doesnt mean it's gonna stay there, Likability allows characters to stay relevant.
I only watched the Marvels because Monica and Kamala were charming enough to stay around. The weakest part of the movie easily was Carol. I'm not being facetious when I say Marvel really went out of their way to make Carol as unlikable as possible. But before they had the money to back up their own claims to "own the chuds" as they would say. They don't really have that kind of money anymore and at the end of they day, Carol just isn't profitable, to the point where her very presence pushes aways sales, sales they can't afford to lose.

From what I see, Carol is still recognizable but only negatively or like a joke.
