It's kind of terrifying hearing that autists can't look someone in the eye
You're not SUPPOSED to LIKE looking someone other than a lover in the eye for extended periods, that's the point. It's aggressive and invasive. But it's the only special power humans have. Animals can't be looked in the eye, they'll always look away. To have that same weakness is to feel eerily inhuman. This might be the most disturbing disorder in recent memory, and it's so on the grow that people are starting to say everyone has it.

The catgirls must have a decent amount of emotional IQ and survival instincts to be able to survive living with autists.

They are trained since birth to want to be good companions. That kind of indoctrination must be hard to shake off.

A relative of mine responded to having an autistic kid by trying to passively kill her though neglect in the "we live by a lake and left the back door open every night" and "her hand just slipped out of mine in this large crowd" approach. Peter is lucky to be high functioning.

crazy that she'd hand out the copyright without an established fanbase at the very least. Maybe she's considering ending it and is looking for reasons to keep going?.

did she feel like she failed as a companion in that moment?
>>
>>153619095
I can look people in the eye, I just don't do it all the time because I subconsciously don't appreciate its importance. Making eye contact doesn't contribute to the content of the conversation we're having, so I look away because I'm thinking and don't want to have to read someone's body language at the same time. The textual content of the conversation is more important to me.
Believe me, if I wanted to make eye contact with someone, they'd be uncomfortable with me long before I got uncomfortable with them.
>>
>>153637436
If you've been paying attention to your interactions you'd realize that 80% of verbal communication is pointless noise, true communication is acheived by being able to follow eye movements, read expressions and body language. Standing there like a sperg and staring blankly into someone's eyes isnt really an impressive feat.
>inb4 body language is a pseudoscience
It is but that's part of getting to know someone, what their tells are and what they communicate underlaying emotions with. It's worth finding and learning about people you care about even if itss confusing and uncomfortable sometimes.
>>
>>153637654
I know that. I just don't do that all the time because it requires concentration to force myself to do that.
I also wanted to mention it because people talk about autism like it's a different species. It never ceases to amuse and anger me that high-functioning autists seem to spend way more time and energy catering to everyone else than the other way around.
I know perfectly well what I'm supposed to do and why, I just don't always DO it because it doesn't feel natural. People who try to explain that shit to me like I'm a child piss me off and the only reason why I tolerate it is because I know they literally just don't get it. Fucking grinds my gears that I seem to have to be way more understanding than the people allegedly trying to understand me, when it costs me more effort to do anyway and my supply of said effort is way more limited.
>>
>>153637736
I also don’t like eye contact, I have audio processing issues and I tend to focus on the mouth so I can read people’s lips
>>
>>153637736
>because I know they literally just don't get it
They do in fact get it
They got it when they where five
That's why they talk to you like you are a five year old kid
Because despite being an adult you need to have basic baby shit explained to you

I didn't know to look people in the eyes when speaking until I was like 10 or 11. At the time, I was very sociable, but also kind of a wild child who was in my own world and knew nothing of "normal people" stuff (a better time, honestly). There was a hardass (but cool) afterschool instructor of mine who told me I needed to look people in the eyes when I talk or else they'd think I was either scared of them or weird. I'd looked people in the eyes before then, but I didn't know it was a rule of conversation.

Study after study after study has shown that high functioning autists don't lack an instinct for expressing or interpreting body language - their body language is simply different from a neurotypical. Two autists have no problem communicating between themselves.

This is actually so insane, but doesn't surprise me at all lmfao

Obviously not every parent is going to be thrilled at giving birth to a literally brain damaged child, but trying to passively kill them like that is just so cartoonishly evil.
>>
>>153638465
The vast majority of people that have kids would never ever be allowed to take care of a child otherwise.
The urge to reproduce must be insanely strong in neurotypicals because they all seem to despise being parents

Since you're treating me like a five-year-old, allow me to return the favor.
Do you know what the phrase

means?
It means that just because I know that I should be doing something doesn't mean I'm actually going to do it. Which is exactly what I wrote, and the fact that you responded the way you did tells me you weren't reading it (which is also something I've come to expect).
>>
>>153639568

>>
>>153637736
>People who try to explain that shit to me like I'm a child piss me off and the only reason why I tolerate it is because I know they literally just don't get it
Or because if you actually go and admit you don't give a shit and its a concious decision to not do it, they'll actually hate you for it.

It doesn't feel natural to anybody, and people do in have a hard limit of how social they can be because being social is tiring. You just have a very low limit.
>>
>>153637436
I don't look at people in the eye because I get bored fast or because I'm worried about something else.

I've had girl come down on me during a moment I was thinking of anything but socializing and I saw her start getting nervous and looking in my eyes' direction trying to find just what I was staring at.

Sorry lass I was staring at the literal lining on the bricks on the wall, you ARE cute but I just wasn't in a headspace to flirt.

Sometimes it feels like it. It really does. Neurotypicals really be like
>hey it's OK you're autistic you don't know how normal people think
And then they act like total assholes to other "normal" people as if they had zero capacity for empathy or another person'sthought process. Like bro, I spent my entire life developing this skill you excel at naturally in comparison and you don't even bother doing the basic work to improve.

>>
>>153640050
Sorry to say, but lying is the primary human skill tree. Seriously, it's baked into our genetic history. Also, despite this, people are really bad at telling when other people are lying (it's not just us, although we tend to be worse at telling lies IMO). We branched out into fantasy as our primary specialization and it lets us do certain kinds of visualization that makes us good at tech, but they tend to be better at whole-situation reads or certain kinds of gut instincts.
I wouldn't call them slow either, they just go on "vibes" more often than not. If they're not under pressure they see no need to hurry.

Recent studies have flipped the way professionals think of autism and empathy
It used to be assumed that the blunted affect of autism was caused by a lack of empathy but in fact autists empathize too easily which leads to overload.

A sperg I knew was once rather promising but his parents (borderline autistic themselves) turned him, in modern terms from Level 1 to Level 3 autism through emotional abuse and sending him to a high school where he was treated like a toddler. It's a sad common reality. There was an anon on this board who wrote extensively about this over the past few years, modern autism education and care basically creates a fucked up self-fulfilling prophecy.
>>
>>153638343
The whole idea that autists do a good job communicating with each other is a fifty-fifty, I think they're meant to be around artists of their level. To add to the post I wrote above, the guy I talked about was literally forced to interact with actual retards. Being sent into that hell during a period where you're supposed to prepare for adult life and make good friends will fuck you up forever (it wasn't a special tard school, but I bet they would have sent him there if they could)
>>
>>153619095
There is a theory I read about over a decade ago that I don't know if it's progressed in any way that what we call autism is actually an expression of Neanderthal behavior. I'm not convinced 100% of it but it would make sense when only really one hominid species has evolved to look in the eye for non-threatening reasons.
