A lot of IDW feels like malicious compliance.They can't have their own fanfic Shadow, so they won't write him into stories.They can't have flaming faggots, so they paint lesbian flags into the background.I have no clue what they're constantly trying to do with Eggman. Sonic never actually beats him. He gets away, slowly. I was defending IDW Sonic for a while but it's been downright abysmal recently.They literally had to completely rewrite how Sage works to get her to fit into the comic the way they wanted, and they keep teasing shit like that are padding for time. >>153624276At what point were you defending it? The problems with Sage and Soleil (had to google his name because he is that forgettable) are long standing issues with the comic. The game characters usually act very out of character to push the plot along, Sonic himself being the biggest example. While the OCs are hyped up and given loads of screentime it all feels wasted when narratively they accomplish very little to nothing.

I can deal with character writing being inconsistent, because it's not always perfect in the games either, but there's a limit. And what bothered me most with Sage was less her characterization, and more how they just changed every single rule and function of the character just so they could pigeonhole her into the existing story without making waves.
