>parents who disapprove of South Park for its portrayal of how kids behave are upset because they "have an idyllic vision of what kids are like">Kids don't have any kind of social tact or etiquette, they're just complete little raging bastards"Why does the fanbase get pissy when someone outside Cartman acts like an asshole, then?
>>153625497Ironically, the fanbase wants Kyle, Tolkien and Wendy to be more unhinged
>>153625497i'm more of an early seasons fan, i liked it better when they were all equally assholes to each otheri think the quote you brought up is from an interview during the time the early seasons were airing too, so it was still when stan and kyle would make unprompted fat jokes towards cartman
>>153625903I don't think we've ever seen unhinged Tolkien except for when he went to live with lions in Here Comes The Neighborhood
>>153626047Well, make him more unhinged!!!
>>153625964The only kids who feel like Classic South Park characters are Clyde, Butters and Kenny
Did you think up this argument in the shower anon, or who am I kidding you don't shower
>>153626273Projection at its finest
>>153626047>>153625903Tolkien's rich. He could easily be a guy who has somewhat of a superiority complex over his classmates.
Bump
Because Matt and Trey became the people who think kids are innocent angels
>>153628026Lame
>>153625497Their plebbit audience would lose their shit.

>>153625497I find it fascinating how the fanbase, by and large fixates soley on the kids, when even since the beginning of the series outside of the main 4 the adult characters were always more important. Took until season 4 for Tolkien to speak, by then Garrison was starting to come out and Ned started to fade into the background.
>>153631609I think you just answered your own question. The main 4 are kids so the fanbase gravitated towards them. It was different from other adult shows because kids were mains (until recently)
>>153626126>>153626507I don't know. Sometimes it's good to have a straight man character who's genuinely a good person. Ironically makes him stand out more in a show like South Park. Stan is the usual straight man who's a decent enough person but he's also a hypocrite and a massive dick at times.
>>153632199But that's the problem. Too often are blacks depicted as holier than Jesus. When was the last time you saw a black person depicted as a villain or inferior rival what wasn't a sidekick of a whitie?
>>153632805Good point but Tolkien isn't the right character to do that sort of thing with. If anything it'd make more sense to introduce a new Black character in South Park who's a villain. Maybe similar to Chef in a way but mean and evil similar to Cartman, Mr. Garrison, and modern Randy.
>>153633043They could've done this in Tegridy
>>153632805>>153633043>>153634783Make a black character who's an asshole
>>153625903Do they really?
>>153636431Yeah. For Kyle, it's people on Xitter saying they liked when he was a hater. For Wendy and Tolkien, it's from an unpopular opinion repost thing. You can find them past the typical "If you don't like them, you're sexist/racist" post
>>153625497what would the fight scene between cartman and wendy look like if it was made in the earlier seasons?my guess is wendy sending cartman to the sun
>>153638134Eh, she was still mainly an activist type early on, that was thrown in for shock value.I imagine she'd play dirty in the fight
>>153636431Yeah, hilarious how their push to make them more sane backfired
Wendy villain arc when?
