It's surreal nobody seems to discuss this commie propaganda nowadays
>>
>>153640186
Never heard of licensing agreements OP? Show/movies move around all the time on streaming, even on platforms which own the material
>>
>>153640186
...because it's 30 years old and not that great
>>
Was it commie propaganda? I remember the depiction of post revolution Russia as pretty bleak shit, guards on trains asking for papers and people standing in bread lines, desperate to leave the country? It's been over 20 years but it was one of my favorites as a kid.
>>
>>153640186
Only tards pay for Disney+ so they deserve it. Never let a corporation control your media.
>>
>The Russian Revolution was caused by an evil wizard brainwashing everyone into killing the Tsar and his family and years later the commoners think this new society fucking sucks
>This is somehow pro-Commie.

>commie propaganda
>post-czar Russia is portrayed as miserable and even has the Revolution started by a slighted warlock

It’s weird that so many stories portray Rasputin as a villain when the actual guy seems to have been a genuine lunatic.

>The movie interpreted him as le evil wizard

What went wrong?

>>
>>153640316
Yeah I'm not sure just why they picked Rasputin of all people to portray as the cartoonishly evil villain. And with a plan to murder the very royals that hired him and kept him wealthy. Nor could I see why he was apparently on the side of the Bolsheviks that also murdered him in a horrible way too.

Movie might have been better to just invent some evil demon guy that caused everyone in Russia to go twisted violent around 1917. Something like the evil cloud Tim Curry guy from Ferngully except he takes over tanks.
>>
>>153640268
Yeah. Seems like a failed attempt to rewrite history so that the jewish bolsheviks backed by world banks didnt elimimate the entire royal family and cause a 5 digit genocide if the russian christians.
Kind of like that absolute retard Mao and how he ruined China.

I don't think bait is even real anymore and it's all just dumb fucking monkeys from here and back, but this is BAIT

>>153640186
How is it a commie propaganda? If anything it is pro-Russian monarchy, the literal opposite of the communist movement.

She litterally dindu nuffin. As a matter of fact what did the czar actuall do wrong?

>>
>>153640382
Looked like an evil wizard, his influential role in the court gave people "The King's Evil Advisor" vibes, and his overly elaborate death just added to that mystique. Disney actually wanted to use Rasputin as one of the ghosts in the Haunted Mansion but Walt was paranoid about it possibly inviting some kinda curse.
>>
>>153640186
The Anastasia story is some of the original anti-commie propaganda stories actually
>>
>>153640234
>not that great
I know it's common to be jaded about everything on this shitty board, but Anastasia was objectively a very well made film. Animation was on point, acting was good, songs were fucking bangers, and good coherent story. If you're a history nerd, a valid complaint could be that almost none of it was rooted in actual history aside from the fact that there was a conspiracy theory that Anastasia Romanov had survived the Bolshevik assassination and a spate of imposters did crop up in the years following the massacre, but it definitely wouldn't be the first film to revise history for a children's movie and certainly not as bad as the animated "Titanic" film.

>evil powerful sorcerer who manipulate people? Nahhh
He was a charismatic malignant narcissist who manipulated people. He wasn't a sorcerer, but he did pose as a religious figure with special powers. He was often considered a monk though he wasn't actually a figure in the Russian Orthodox church to any official capacity and the reason he was able to get so close to the Romanovs is because he was running a faith healing scam proclaiming to help keep their son alive who suffered from haemophilia. There was speculation that he was also cucking the Czar and had an essentially open relationship with the royal consort.

It's widely surmised that his influence over the royal family was what lead to their downfall as he sort of took the place of Nicholas when he left court to oversee the Russian army during WWI. He was an extremely divisive figure with many Russian elites pegging him for a charlatan.

Rasputin wasn't the cartoon evil sorcerer who plotted against the Romanovs as Anastasia had portrayed, but his involvement with the royal family did play a hand in their demise and he was an opportunistic asshole who lied and cheated his way into a position of influence. I think it's funny that /co/ now thinks that he was just a good guy.

The idea of Rasputin appearing as a ghost is genuinely terrifying. The guy was fucking crazy as shit and, as you pointed out, definitely looked like an evil wizard.
I can't remember what the Japanese call it when you can see the whites of the eyes on 3 sides of the iris, but he's definitely got that.

>>

records of what specifically? The history and downfall of the Romanovs is extremely well documented. I will not write a dissertation on /co/ of all places nor will I provide a bibliography for you, but if you're interested in the topic, I'd urge you to dig into it. It's fascinating stuff.

History isn't nearly as susceptible to propaganda as conspiracy theorists would have you believe. Entities like "the ruling elite" may be able to control the narrative in their localized areas for a brief period in history, but they die off and evidence of historical fact remains. We reconstruct what happened based on multiple sources of documents. That's why one painting that *might* depict an alien invasion in the 1500s is not considered evidence that there was, in fact, an alien invasion. If there WAS an alien invasion, it would have been big news depicted in countless paintings, written records, stories, pottery, and we'd see ancillary evidence confirming the primary accounts. Bakers keep ledgers of sales...how were bread sales affected that day? We'd see ripples of major historical events everywhere.

Similarly, when reconstructing the fall of the Romanovs (or the existence of the Holocaust which is another thing wingnuts like to deny occurred), we're not looking at what a handful of rich guys said happened. Nefarious motives to control a narrative are considered and when it seems likely that a specific interpretation of historical fact is heresay, historians are quick to point that out. Those findings, when substantiated, are the sorts of things that make careers.

No. Superstition turned modern pseudoscience.
How much of your sclera shows is a genetic lottery. Where it shows is a game of genetics, camera angle, and what you're looking at.

I can literally look in the mirror and manage all four of these by simply positioning my eyes in turn. But when my gaze is neutral, it's in line with 1 or 2.

Despite the infamous Charlie Manson picture. You can find multiple where his eyes look completely normal. The "scientist" who pushed the theory in the 60s also created a "special diet which would ease your psychology."

It's always just been a confirmation bias thing.

>he was running a faith healing scam proclaiming to help keep their son alive who suffered from haemophilia.
In good ol' Ras' defense part of his "faith healing" was telling the doctors:
>"Stop using bloodletting on the fucking haemophilic, retards!"
So, you know, maybe he was not that crazy.

>>
>>153642931
>Stop using bloodletting on the fucking haemophilic
They were using Aspirin which at the time was considered a sort of cure-all, but also ends up thinning the blood which may have exacerbated Alexei's symptoms.

He was still crazy, though. It's not like Rasputin knew how Aspirin may have had negative effects. Stopping usage was likely a good idea, but not for the reasons "Ras" thought.

>>
>>153644506
>makes up explanation with no evidence to back it up
>this is what happened
Critical thinking isn't your forte
>>
>>153646990
No, both history and science are living breathing fields of study. That's the difference between actual study and conspiracy theories. Nothing is absolute, and when new evidence is discovered to challenge commonly held perceptions, it WILL undergo plenty of professional scrutiny, but in the event that the finding is significant and credible enough to change currently held beliefs, both scientists and historians change them.
>>
>>153647768
I find your total faith in academic institutions disturbing
>>
>>153648777
I find your willingness to swallow conspiracy theories even more concerning. "Academic institutions" aren't an allied force. They're made up of individual people who all want to discover something brand new so they can write a book, get all the press, and make a name for themselves in the field. That exists outside of schools.

The funny thing about conspiracy theories is that they rely on the fact that hundreds of thousands of people across the globe can all keep the same secret and none of them would break from the ranks just to be the person who gets all the fame and glory for being the person who discovered something new.
>>
>>153648871
Do you have actual evidence Rasputin had sex with the queen or not?
>>
>>153648871
Who said anything about conspiracy theories other than you, you total midwit. And yes the fact that they're individualistic makes them susceptible to either individual bias, oversights and other general hackers comes especially apparent when you read into the primary sources and such, once again you don't blindly follow popular interpretations now
>>
>>153649215
>There was speculation that he was also cucking the Czar
>speculation
hope this helps
>>
>>153649254
>makes them susceptible to either individual bias, oversights and other general hackers
This is why new findings are peer reviewed, dipshit. Everyone tries to poke holes in it and opinions change once a new idea can withstand scrutiny.
>>
>>153649257
So they did spread malicious rumors about Rasputin to discredit the Tsar.
>>
>>153649272
"The system is completely infallible and can't ever be corrupt or untrustworthy"

I accept your concession
>>
>>153640252
The Christian priest guy who hated the communists was the big bad. The Bolsheviks who killed the evil Christian wizard were the goodies
>>
>>153640382
They could have just had Lenin and his secret police as the bad guys, chasing down Anastasia the last Romanov all the way to Paris
>>
>>153649303
Public speculation does not necessarily equal malicious rumor. Rasputin was known to philander with his wife even quoting something along the lines of "there's enough of him to go around". He fucked both peasants and high born ladies, so when he cozied up to Alexandra, the speculative ideations weren't completely outlandish, albeit they were still speculative.
This was stated outright in my previous post, so I don't know why you're trying to use this as some sort of gotcha. You just seem like you're desperately scrambling for a foothold in a conversation you're ill-Learn more history and then try again.
>>
>>153644416
He cured Alexei's hemophilia and the royal family loved him. What's so scammy and evil about that?
>>
>>153649327
what do you mean when you say "system"? Again, if one person was doing the peer review, then it could be corrupt. When the entire community of historians have to agree, that's a pretty fucking solid system.

The fact that you're trying to shut down the argument by falsely claiming victory tells me everything I need to know.
>>
>>153643261
>He was still crazy, though. It's not like Rasputin knew how Aspirin may have had negative effects. Stopping usage was likely a good idea, but not for the reasons "Ras" thought.
How do your know he wasn't an actual holy man and God was speaking through him? Maybe that's how he survived all those assassination attempts.
>>
>>153649372
because Alexei still had hemophilia before and after Rasputin prayed for him.
>>
>>153649362
Not him but what you're saying is there are no concrete evidence or confirmation of him actually having an affair with the tsarina other than "maybe"
>>
>>153641185
>I think it's funny that /co/ now thinks that he was just a good guy.
It's trendy to believe that now. A colorful and larger than life figure, I liked the Hammer film about him where he's played by Christopher Lee
>>
>>153649384
How do you know that he wasn't actually a demon who replaced Alexei with a gollum with no blood disorder?
Kind of seems like there are more simple and plausible answers here, but you go ahead and believe what you'd like.
>>
>>153649449
That sounds deranged and retarded. The facts are he cured Alexei's hemophilia when the best doctors in Russia couldn't and he also survived several assassination attempts.
>>
>>153649384
>Rasputin was actually chosen by God
