so, out of boredom and because it's fun. I have decided to make a giant crossover universe of my own. combining stuff that i like in a (at least somewhat) cohesive fashion. there's a wide array of material i'm working with. (TV shows, movies, pulp adventure fiction. video games of various sorts. and. of relevance to this board. COMIC BOOKS and CARTOONS).
any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated. and feel free to post crossover material of your own. or crossover fanart. anything!
>>
>>153642523
why not share the most important parts of your crossover first so that people don’t suggest redundancies?
>>
>>153642760
well i suppose a lot of the main focus of my setting is pulp stuff and superheroes (mostly public domain superheroes like Black Terror, Dynamic Man, The Flame, American Crusader, Airboy, etc. although certain Marvel and DC heroes do exist in some form)
the Hyborian Age of Conan happened. too. as did pretty much all of HP Lovecraft's works.
Godzilla attacked Japan in 1954. Skull Island (and thus Kong) were discovered in 1933. (although beforehand there were some obscure historical accounts of other places where primtiive beasts and dinosaurs still existed. such as the subterranean world of Pellucidar. and the island of Caprona)
as for other /co/ specific material that exists in some shape or form...: among others, Roger Ramjet, Dudley Do-Right, Scooby Doo, Yogi Bear, Moon Mullins, the original cast of Gasoline Alley, Colonel Heeza Liar, Dick Tracy, The Spirit, Mandrake The Magician, the cast of Thimble Theatre, certain Looney Tunes characters (no Bugs or Daffy, who still exist as completely fictional cartoon characters. but for example Yosemite Sam was an actual outlaw who lived and died in the Old West among many others. Kid Colt, Arizona Ames, the Dead Rider, Jonah Hex, and the fabled "Lone Ranger", real name John Reid. among others)

Does Dinosaur Island and the Savage Land also exist in this world?
>>
>>153642985
some bits of lore
>various (but not all) Marvel and DC heroes and characters. still exist, some are altered. for example Steve Rogers is shot by a nazi spy during Project Rebirth. as well as Erskine. so that's shelved in favor of other programs. like the experiments that created Yankee Doodle Jones, The Shield, et al.
>Spider-Man is generally the same. his career having begun in the early sixties.
>Bruce Banner never becomes the Hulk and dies during the Gamma Bomb test. he still ends up saving Rick Jones' life. Rick, feeling like it was unfair that he lived while Banner perished in nuclear fire. his last moments spent screaming in pain. travels across the country seeking to atone. eventually joining up with two other traveling youths. a certain Mr. Todd Stiles and a Buzz Murdock. no relation to the infamous red haired New York City lawyer of the same last name.
>K'un Lun was founded by people trying to hide from the scourge of ancient China, Lo-Pan.
>the most famous Iron Fist, Daniel Rand, perhaps the most famous of all the Iron Fists throughout history. retires by the 80s. founding a small bar christened "Danny's All-Star Joint" with the help of his friend Luke Cage.
>Superman arrived here from another world, half amnesiac. faint memories of his native timeline. stuck in a strange world that feels so familiar yet so far away. cities aren't where they should be. the superheroes are different... said Superman starts a diner called Clark's in Dover, DE. which is the closest he can get to where geographically Metropolis is in his own timeline.
>Sgt Franklin J. Rock exists and fought during World War 2. one of many famous war heroes alongside Commander Bill Battle, Sargent Steele (nicknamed Sgt Steel, on account of his mechanical hand, despite the fact he isn't actually a Sergeant. his birth name is Sargent.) Captain Jim Albright, known as Captain Midnight, etc.
>>153643066
the Savage Land does not exist. and Dinosaur Island is synonymous with Caprona.
>>
boomp
>>
>>153643223
>like the experiments that created Yankee Doodle Jones, The Shield, et al.

There was also a Golden Age hero named Captain Freedom who had powers at first but then those powers quietly disappeared without explanation in his comic, that could be another failed experiment
>>
>>153643558
Also does Luke Cage have powers in this universe?
>>
>>153642523
Is your shared universe more like LOEG where everything is canon or would you rather cherrypick stuff?
>>
>>153643704
I'm trying to cherrypick stuff. but I want to also include as much as i can (reasonably) get away with.
>>153643703
Yes. he does.
>>153643558
this is a pretty good idea....
>>
>>153643223
just realized i called Iron Fist 'the most famous' twice, whoops.
anyways.
other heroes that exist in this world include
>Jim Andrews, aka the HUMAN DYNAMO (combines elements of Dynamo. published by Fox in Science Comics, and the Human Dynamo aka Shock Gibson, originally from Speed Comics published by Brookwood)
>John Gleason, the SILVER STREAK (Silver Streak Comics by Lev Gleason Publications)
>Ibis The Invincible (Whiz Comics, Fawcett)
>the TARGET (Target Comics, Novelty Press)
>HUGH HAZZARD and his AUTO MAN (also known as the "IRON TERROR" to criminals). which would go on to inspire Japan's "Tetsujin" program during the latter days of World War 2.
>detective SLAM BRADLEY (Detective Comics)
>THE VOICE, real name Daniel Thomas Langwood, (a combination of Hillman's "Micro Face" character and Centaur's "The Voice" character)
>ROCKET-MAN, aka Calvert "Cal" Martin (from Scoop Comics published by Chesler)
>Wesley Dodds, better known as the SANDMAN
>tech genius Blane Whitney, better known as THE WIZARD
>Roy Lincoln, the HUMAN BOMB
>"Happy" Terill, THE RAY
>in addition to these men. supernatural beings like the MAN OF WAR and UNCLE SAM would crusade for right
>Hugo Danner from Philp Wylie's "Gladiator" exists as well. so does the original Captain Marvel (the Fawcett CM not Marvel's CM)
>Hawkeye, real name Clinton Barton, operated in the sixties. so did Ant-Man. Stephen Strange is also around. others, like Tony Stark AKA Iron Man never existed. the X-Gene doesn't exist so while all of the X-Men exist. none of them have powers and lived less super lives. Erik died during the Holocaust, James Howlett lived and died a drunk itinerant, Scott Summers was a rather ordinary teenager, etc, etc.
>the members of the Fantastic Four did indeed exist. Ben Grimm and Reed Richards were war heroes. however. they wound up stranded in space, their fate is unknown. presumably they're trapped in the Negative Zone or god knows where else.
>>
>>153643223
>>Superman arrived here from another world, half amnesiac. faint memories of his native timeline. stuck in a strange world that feels so familiar yet so far away. cities aren't where they should be. the superheroes are different... said Superman starts a diner called Clark's in Dover, DE. which is the closest he can get to where geographically Metropolis is in his own timeline.

This reminds me that Wildstorm has Clark's Bar where the owner looks like Clark Kent
>>
>>153644303
>other notable globetrotting adventurers, some famous, some unknown. include Henry Walton Jones Jr. Clark Savage Jr. Francis Xavier Gordon, Steve Costigan, boy reporter Martin Remi, better known as "Tintin". and Solomon Kane. who eventually becomes immortal and ageless.
>>153644339
believe it or not, I came up with this idea before learning of Clark's Bar. i just thought it would be fun.
>>
>>153643223
>>153644303
So the impression I get is in the 40s there are some superpowered individuals, did they ever form a team? Is WWII mostly the same or altered by the presence of these characters?
>>
>>153642523
>TV shows, movies, pulp adventure fiction. video games of various sorts
No
Fuck off
>>
>>153644469
this world's (second) fastest speedster is a fellow by the name of the Express Man. real name Max Murphy. who at one point was a member of this universe's premiere superhero team. the American Legion (named after the US Veterans organization).
>this world's Jay Garrick tried to create a formula to recreate the Express Man's powers and ends up killing himself.
>
>>>153644689
>policing threads like a fag
YOU fuck off, besides, pulps are effectively /co/ and we do occasionally discuss pulp heroes from time to time.
>>153644624
World War 2 will be altered. in what ways i haven't decided yet. but some of the stuff is still the same. America still nukes Japan in 1945. however. a concerning amount of Germans do end up escaping and forming Nazi terrorist cells all across the world over the ensuing decades. such as those fought by the PFSF (consisting of Cpt. Marco Rossi, Lt. Tamra Roving, Sgt. Eri Kasamoto, and 1st Sgt. Fiolina Germi, with the help of the combat vehicle SV-001, nicknamed the "Metal Slug". other similar vehicles to the Metal Slug would eventually appear. such as the inferior "Robot Tank" in 1999.
something interesting to note is that eventually, at some point many decades after the present. tank combat became a sport called "Battlezone") perhaps evolving from the rather violent and chaotic vehicle combat that racers like Go Mifune became famous for in Japan. (which would later inspire similar races, such as the World Races in the United States. colloquially called the "Wacky Races")
>>
>>153642985
>>153644303
>The Spirit
>the members of the Fantastic Four did indeed exist. Ben Grimm and Reed Richards were war heroes. however. they wound up stranded in space, their fate is unknown. presumably they're trapped in the Negative Zone or god knows where else.

That just reminded me that the Fantastic Four started out in a Central City rather than NYC, in the early comics
>>
>>153645305
I almost forgot about that, that's true.
>>
>>153643223
>Spider-Man is generally the same. his career having begun in the early sixties.

How far does his crimefighting career go? Is it like 616 (sans connections to most other heroes) or?
>>
>>153646337
more or less, probably up to like, the early 70s?
one possible ending i was thinking of is that Punisher successfully manages to shoot and kill him in ASM #129.
>>
>>153643558
>>153645305
>>153645615
According to https://pdsh.fandom.com/wiki/Captain_Freedom Captain Freedom also operated in a city that was either Central City or NYC depending on the comic story
>>
>>153642523
Wait were you the on on /tv/ who was planning to do something that included A-Team, Doctor Who, Kolchak, Night of the Living Dead in it?

Also
>>153643223
>>Superman arrived here from another world, half amnesiac. faint memories of his native timeline. stuck in a strange world that feels so familiar yet so far away. cities aren't where they should be. the superheroes are different... said Superman starts a diner called Clark's in Dover, DE. which is the closest he can get to where geographically Metropolis is in his own timeline.

When did Superman arrive on this Earth?
>>
>>153647440
the very same.
i'm still kind of iffy on NOTLD being a thing in this universe. if it is it'll be a very self contained and quarantined incident.
>When did Superman arrive on this Earth?
roughly 1943/1944. having been a superhero on his home earth since 1938.
>>
bump
>>
>>153642985
So basically the Wold Newton Universe.
>>
>>153648208
So this would basically be the 1938 Superman with the leaping instead of flying powers? Or is he already able to fly, or get flight powers while on this other Earth?

As for NOTLD I could see it being contained due to the presence of other super-scientists
>>
>>153648762
not really, i think. since
A: pretty much everyone in Wold Newton is related to each other genetically, which isn't the case here.
B: the Wold Newtonverse is toned down from its source material iirc, with many of the things the characters do in their canon being brushed off or ignored as exaggerations.
but yes it's similar in that it's a giant crossover universe.
>>153649058
he could fly by the 40s, so yes. (my in-universe explanation is that he didnt quite get the hang of his flight abilities at first so he just jumped until he figured it out).
doesn't do much jumping or flying these days, though... what with running a diner and all
>As for NOTLD I could see it being contained due to the presence of other super-scientists
I suppose... that makes sense.
unrelated. but i'm having trouble on when exactly to place Conan in my timeline.
there's a lot of contradictory explanations and ideas. even among Howard's own works.
and then i have to square all that away with stuff like "why did dinosaurs survive in certain places and others didn't?", "how do places like Skull Island and Caprona/Caspak fit in? where were they during the events of the Conan stories?"
and that's not even mentioning me trying to fit in the (first two) Zelda games somewhere in ancient history.
>>
>>153649172
For Tarzan Alive that's true but as the WNU expanded further it's not really anymore.
>>
>>153649172
other stuff I want to include (ancient and otherwise)
>Big Trouble in Little China
>Half-Life (no Half-Life 2)
>Mario (the first like 4 games, maybe, plus Wrecking Crew, Mario Bros. the various game & watch games, Donkey Kong, etc)
>Sonic The Hedgehog (the first maybe 2 or 3 games)
>Q-Bert (he's an intergalactic stand up comedian, basically)
>Doc Savage
>Assault On Precinct 13
>Them!
>Shadow Warrior
>BLOOD
>various arcade games (Yar's Revenge, River Raid, Pitfall, Battlezone, Combat, Metal Slug, Pong, probably Pac Man, Berzerk, Breakout, Burger Time,
>Clerks (first movie only, not the animated series other than the broadest of broad strokes, no Clerks 2 or 3)
>Doctor Who in some form (i think i'll play with the idea of him being from a future Earth, which was iirc the original intention of the writers, rather than an alien)
>Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
>The Thing From Another World
>Courage The Cowardly Dog
>The Flintstones
>The Jetsons
>The Addams Family
>Fu Manchu
>G-8 And His Battle Aces
>The Shadow
>Rambo
>Gunsmith Cats
>Speed Racer
>John Carter
>Tales From The Crypt
>The Andy Griffith Show
>Route 66
>The Resurrection Of Jimber-Jaw
>Indiana Jones
>Highlander
>a slightly more historically accurate version of Jack Of All Trades
>a lot of your usual public domain stuff you expect to see in worlds like these, Frankenstein, Dracula, for example
>A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur's Court
>Dragnet
>Have Gun, Will Travel
among others
>>
>>153649172
Time travel exists right, since you're including Doctor Who and Back to the Future? So maybe some dinosaurs ended up going through some time warp by accident, evaded the meteor, and ended up in an area/time more favorable to them. Other may have just survived the meteor and evolved
>>
>>153649460
also i'll probably do Lupin The Third
to keep it to /co/ content.... i plan on including The Smurfs, Felix The Cat, various Charlton properties like the Many Ghosts of Dr Graves, various EC horror and war comics happen. (not every single story depicted. some are tales the Ghoulunatics gleamed from other realities others happened in the same universe they inhabit). other than the superheroes i've already mentioned (Spider-Man, Daredevil, Iron Fist, Power Man, etc). other Marvel and DC heroes who still end up doing superheroics include the Crimson Avenger, the Shining Knight, Hourman. The Destroyer, Plastic Man, Fiery Mask, The Question, and Ant-Man. although there are many others who exist yet never gained their powers or otherwise don't get involved in superhero stuff, I.E as i said before Steve Rogers is shot during Project Rebirth and so never becomes Captain America, Banner dies during the nuclear test leaving a scarred Rick Jones behind, god knows what Thor's doing. Harold "Hal" Jordan is an ordinary Korean War veteran, the X-Gene doesn't exist so all those who would have otherwise become X-Men lived rather ordinary lives. the FF fuck up their flight and are never seen again, presumably either dead or trapped in the Negative Zone. Bruce Wayne simply doesn't exist. neither does Barry Allen or Tony Stark, no Sub-Mariner or original Human Torch either, Boston Brand was still shot and murdered, but never became a ghost and simply peacefully passed on. his murder unsolved. Johnny Blaze has a rather long stunt career and retires rich as hell, although he never got over Crash's death. he never did sell his soul to Mephisto thus never becoming the Ghost Rider.
Etrigan's.... somewhere.
Casper McFadden exists, so does the Peanuts gang.
>>153649576
I don't know about *all* of Back To The Future, but yes.
at absolute minimum i'm going to include Emmett Brown.
>>
>>153649852
>god knows what Thor's doing.

You could probably incorporate that one What If where Thor encountered Conan if you need him off the board
>>
>>153642523
The Mystery Men
