Peter was also framed as the only one in the wrong despite MJ writing a hit piece article on him, going into a paramilitary base to meet a contact she didn't tell him about so naturally he'd try to save her before she lashes out at him for "treating (her) like a baby", she lost her shit on him for how he and the Lizard trashed a museum--bitch how the fuck is ANYONE supposed to stop a roided out mutated dinosaur man with ZERO property damage?! And the Scream fight literally just being her blaming him for having inherited debt from May's death (he wasn't exactly thrilled about her croaking either, if memory serves).

Then there was the bullshit of him being torn down to make Miles look better and that scene where he says; "Why does this city even need me...when it has you?"

The game couldn't handle juggling TWO Spider-Men so how do they plan on throwing Silk into the mix? What about her rape pheromones? Are they keeping that from her debut? Will she Peter and/or Miles be caught fucking for more contrived dramatic friction?

Aw, hell, it will just be Peter they wouldn't DARE make DEI Spider-Man look bad (SBI would never allow it, anyway) and they have to keep MJ as an insufferable raging cunt towards Peter show how "independent" she is.

but his inclusion in this game severely hurt the story and the gameplay as well. The main story centers around Peter and Harry's friendship so Miles really doesn't have a place in it so Insomniac just gives him a lot of meandering, pointless bullshit to do that's just there to pad out the game and try to justify Miles' existence. The last act of the game's emotional impact is severely hampered by the fact you're not playing as the character who's emotionally tied to the events, you're playing as someone who was just shoehorned in.

Then gameplay wise Peter and Miles play similarly enough to not be different enough to make switching between them fun but they play different enough and have different combos that makes switching between them a pain in the ass. Just when you're getting used to the fighting style of one the story makes you switch and now you've gotta get used to the fighting style of someone different. And the game REALLY wants you to just play as Miles. Side missions are almost all exclusive to Miles, if you play as Peter Miles will randomly show up and finish fights for you...the game all but stops you and flat out asks "you're playing as Peter, are you sure you wouldn't rather play as Miles?"

So here's my thing about bitching about the fridge scene. This game has a LOT of problems. Like a LOT. When you make such a big deal out of something as silly as Peter getting knocked out for a second by a goddamn refrigerator it makes the people responsible for this shit game go "oh, all these complaints are just nitpicky nonsense, we made a great game!" and not take to heart the actual real criticisms, like the subpar stories, being forced to play as Miles for the majority of the game despite him not fitting in the story, the boring ass Mary Jane shit...they can hand wave all of that by going "yeah but they're complaining about a refrigerator, they're just assholes!"

Yeah they're completely useless, as soon as I got the symbiote powers I just used those. It was like they did the electric powers with Miles to try and differentiate him from Peter but then they're like 'oh shit we don't have any specials for Peter to match Miles till halfway thru the game'. It drives me nuts that so much Tony Todd Venom stuff got left on the cutting room floor but every bit of Miles made it into the game, even the mini game playing as his girlfriend. Miles seriously made this game go from a flawed 8-8.5/10 game to a 6/10 at best.
