It was a movie "made for the fans" which only served to prove how low of an opinion Gunn had for the fans.

All I kept hearing from the fans of this movie was "you expect too much", "you need to turn your brain off", "the movie was all it needed to be" which is just excuses you see for all other dogshit movies with a fandom.

I just thought it was a good movie. I enjoyed it.

I guess, if you remove the Man from Superman.

He was also Jewish, as is Superman

me too
>>
I liked it more than MoS honestly. Still just a whatever movie though.
>>
He was. At the start I'm like ehh let's see if I can buy into him, but by like midway I'm like yeah he is Superman
>>
>>153652614
I liked it.
Pretty much every character was on point in design and in execution of personality. Action was pretty good. Jimmy Olsen fucks.

I dont remember superman being a pencil-necked little dweeb. He is literally supposed to be the embodiment of masculinity. A super man.
Not just looks. Cornsweat is way too emotional and unstable. What happened to the stoic father figure we all looked up to?
>>
What bothers me is his eye is slightly lazy. Not like obviously lazy but sometimes you can see it veer off.

>having an autistic Superman is bad because…BECAUSE IT JUST IS, OKAY?!
>>
I like his Clark Kent I just wish we got to see more of it.
I like his Superman, the best parts of him is when he's just being cocky and saving people and making jokes. The worst parts is when he's angry yelling, the actor can't pull that off and it seems cringy.
The actor looks the part.
The suit isn't good.

What are we doing here
>>
> be me
> rewatch Man of Steel for the 12th time
> Henry Cavill walks on screen
> immediately understands why humanity would worship/fear Superman
> actually looks like he was genetically engineered in a Kryptonian lab to be Superman

> then watch the new trailer with David Corenswet
> "hey guys what if Superman was your friendly HR representative"
> bro looks like he reminds the teacher about homework

> Cavill had PRESENCE
> when he stood there you believed he could bench press the moon
> voice deep enough to shake drywall
> fight scenes looked like two gods causing 9/11 every 15 minutes

> Corenswet looks fine I guess
> but fine isn't Superman
> Superman should make normal people feel unemployed

> Cavill got screwed by bad writing and studio panic
> still carried every scene through raw aura alone
> meanwhile people blaming him for Snyder making everything gray and sad

> tfw we finally had comic-accurate physique Superman
> and WB tossed him out right before superhero fatigue hit
> kino industry decision making

> in conclusion
> Henry Cavill = Superman
> David Corenswet = CW Superman with a gym membership

He was a whiner that let people die to save a squirrel.

Anyone who says they liked Gunn's version of Superman has clearly never read any Superman comics. I don't know how anyone could compare it to ASS or say that this movie is a spiritual descendant of Mark Waid's Birthright. It has nothing in common with either of those. Even in late Golden Age-early Silver Age comics, Superman wasn't this goofy, aloof, and hysterical.
And even as someone who genuinely liked Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy and the first season of Peacemaker, I thought Superman wasn't a good movie. Was it better than MoS? Uhh... maybe, but this bar is set too low. It definitely lacks that magical feeling that the first 2 Superman movies by Donner still have, despite being shot almost 50 years ago. Better than Superman and Superman II? Hell no! Despite being shot almost 50 years ago, the first two Superman movies by Donner still have that magical feeling. This one definitely lacks it.

If you think that's larger than average, you're the kind of person Hank Hill would call a twig boy.

Honestly, this. I like my Superman being reserved and composed. Cavill had the looks, but the writing wasn’t there, and the new guy just lacks in terms of looks and doesn’t have that “it’s going to be alright, I’m here” presence.

Cavill was the best Superman since Reeves himself. Gunn's movie had bad music, terrible storyboarding, and completely failed to understand that the question of "is Superman powerful enough to ____" is always answered with Yes. You don't put tension in a Superman movie with physical threats. Donner understood that, so did Snyder. Also, Cornsweat's hair. It's too long, and not long enough. It's just long enough to get easily mussed, it makes him look weak, susceptible to the world around him, but if it were longer, like SuperCage in the Flash's multiverse scene, the weight of the hair would pull it back into place if something hit it. Cornsweat's is in the perfectly terrible middle ground.
>>
>>153652614
Why does he have wonky eyes tho??? Superman is supposed to be the epitome of masculine beauty, not some mid-looking guy with visible facial asymmetry.

Maybe I just liked the movie

I urge you to watch the scene with the giant monster again. The shot right before he grabs the squirrel, when the tail is sweeping around in a circle. There were two people running away from it, but not to get OUT of the way, they were running in line with it's path and it was catching up fast. Superman chose to save a squirrel instead of two human beings. I'm not saying you shouldn't enjoy the move, but don't turn a blind eye to it's flaws.
>>
>>153652614
He has hysterical woman energy like every democratic male.
>>
>>153652614
Eh, he wasn't one of my favorites. I don't think he really looks the part that well, certainly not as well as Reeve, Reeves, or Cavil.
His role in the movie, the lines he had to work with, had opposite strengths and weaknesses compared to MoS. He was able to be a kind-hearted savior, but he lacked the authoritativeness and 'cool factor' which I also think is crucial for the character.
Corenswet also had to deal with having the worst live action Superman suit.

Hopefully, moving forward, Corenswet's Superman will be able to grow into a more tough, imposing figure, and a redesign can fix his suit.
>>
>>153652614
Why did Gunn appeal to the "Superman is boring because he is too powerful" crew? His Superman was too weak. He can't even breath in space.
