We’ve never sat down and analyzed XRA in the conventional sense, so let’s take a second: what are this show’s politics, exactly?

That's an interesting question OP. Perhaps I could direct you to some of my literature on the subject...

I don't enjoy season 2. Season 1 is kino

>Town elects a literal donkey (allegorically a Democrat), so an opposing candidate who is secretly a child molestor kills it and frames Xavier for the murder
>Xavier gets eaten by a salamander while accidentally making a gay joke about himself
>Xavier goes on a killing spree in the Minus World, ending with him getting reverse brutalized by the Minus World cops, flashing the screen a lit menorah, and being reverse executed by guillotine
>Xavier trifles with the Aztecs, gets killed, reassembles himself, turns the Aztecs on Quetzalcoatl, impregnates the sun, gets eaten by the sun, and kills himself
>Xavier’s crush melts into a sentient pile of meat that gets eaten by maggots, who involuntarily RKOs him
>Xavier meets the Republican myth of the “Do you believe in God?” killer (maybe Satanic Panic? maybe Columbine? I don’t remember), watches him kill two people, hands him a pamphlet that’s printed exactly like a Westboro Baptist Church prop, and gets him to kill himself
>Xavier does a male feminist bit, turns a woman into a sandwich, then gets turned into a bowl of chili by his mother to promote a chili-themed waterpark
>Xavier does a Psychonauts perspective shift into the first scenario again and kills the pedo mayor
>Xavier becomes a little girl, smuggles a gay man into Heaven by killing the Pope, and then the gay man reveals himself to secretly be a straight black man
>Xavier opens all the doors at once, revealing the secret messages and completing the loop
So…something about Jews, huh? We definitely know Xavier is a Jew, between this and S1E10.

I've always thought the scenes involving the Mexican gang, the Native American casino and Squatopia were all direct jabs at California and its "unique" left-wing policies.

However, there were also plenty of jokes making fun of right-wing ideologies as well, such as pointing out the irony of embracing religion over science, the corruption and ineptitude of the US military, and having the KKK getting firebombed as a cutaway gag.

So I'd say that the while the edgy and politically incorrect nature of the show naturally makes it lean right somewhat, it attempts to remain centrist by frequently making fun of both sides.

You know I was loving this show and then I got to the episode where he was eating babies and slowly gaining weight until he was obese and it made me check out. Is there anything else as disgusting as that in the series or is it like the God's Chef episode in Moral Orel?
>>
>>153654894
Wait til you see Xavier get turned inside out!
>>
>>153655009
I don't have anything against gross out humor. I was honestly laughing at the babies being eaten but when I realized he was gaining weight the laughter turned into disgust. I don't know why but dead babies=potential for comedy and weight gain=potential for comedy but combining those two things shocked me so much I couldn't stand it

The primary argument against XRA being a nonpartisan show is the “on your left” gag that the Flansburgh character and a bunch of others keep doing. Chapman and Flansburgh are both lefties. Then you have Signs From Godrilla, and the “on the left/on the right/your left” framing device. It’s inarguable that the show portrays leftism or at the very least the Dem/Republican dichotomy several times. I would consider the scene at the beginning of Shakashuri Blowdown where Xavier bifurcates into a red and a blue version of himself to be an example of this as well.

Red and blue are just common opposing colors

Xavier is based on He-Bro/Hebrew
>>
>>153656058
So Xavier is 100% Jewish. Interesting.

>>153656058
Explains why he goes beyond "good and evil" to inadvertently hurt people to fulfill his power fantasy.

It is anti-New Age. Not anti-left, not anti-right, but anti-New Age babble.
>crystals, chakras, native american wisdom, hindu guru, tarot, astrology, inner peace, personal journey, truth to power
All of this is mocked relentlessly. Xavier is an idiot who thinks Socratic questioning is in and of itself wisdom.

Say whatever you want about Discworld, but I think it’s really a shame that Susan and her dismissive attitude towards philosophers and the general Muggle woo-woo attitude of that kind of thinking doesn’t come up more often in discussions like this. I think people who care about the Socratic method might want to watch a fuckin’ cartoon or something.

to be fair, Discworld is the kind of place where camels go through eye of needles and achilles fails to race the tortoise, so that kind of abstract thinking goes out of the window
