Before I'd always understood them to be pretty and I'd even had crushes but she was the first I'd ever seen manipulate a man with her, I guess, femaleness in a non-corny way. The bedroom scene with Zuko. If she hadn't been in her slip and obviously unwilling to fight, exposing her physical vulnerability to him in something of an intimate way, I don't think it would have worked. That's when she really beat Zuko, in my mind, not lying to her dad about what he did even, he still could have slipped the bridle if he wanted to even then, but that moment was when she really put him under her power I think, at least for a while.I'd seen women manipulate men before in cartoons but it was always some ultra-corny shit like Ms. Bellum asking Mojo or something nicely or whatever and him handing over his world-ending weapon with hearts in his eyes before getting his ass kicked. Simplistic. This was different, a lot more subtle and nuanced than that but basically the same idea, in a sense. Anyway ATLA is a masterpiece of western animation for sure. This remains one of the least contrived, most interesting versions of that type of scene I've ever watched to this day even outside animation. I also liked her as Black Cat in the Spiderman 2 videogame.
