It was better but... it just wasn't well made. The whole film was written around the "5 minutes to make you cry" that plagued that generation of pixar films.The world was completely unbelievable, didn't look like it could possibly function as a world full of massively different fantasy creatures. Even Shrek managed it better.

I barely remember this movie despite watching it. IIRC the "conflict" was once again something like inter-generational family drama. No "bad guy", world feels really lame and gay overall. You have a fantasy world and you make it basically a shitty clone of suburban America? I want these people out of the writer's room, please.
