DC needs to put its black characters more in the spotlight rather than background fodder.

When the market is working as it's supposed to, unpopular characters that don't sell will get relegated to the background, even retired or killed off, rather than artificially propped up and pushed for the sake of an agenda.

I can't help but notice that when people complain about this, they usually also suggest that the white leading characters take a break or "be retired" so the black characters can move to the front. Kind of telling on themselves a bit, that they think the only way black leads can be as popular as the original white characters is if those white characters simply aren't an option for customers to pick. Just see how this crowd wants Peter Parker to retire as Spider-Man, as if the moment that happens all of his popularity will transfer over to the next guy.

Isn’t DC doing good right now?

DC needs to stop using shitty clones and "legacies" of major heroes and push their unique black characters.

>Black Batman
>Black Wonder Woman
>BlackWally
>Black Superman

How about they push the characters that can stand alone as their own properties?
Cyborg, Steel, Black Lightning, Mr. Terrific.
Herald and Bumblebee
Waller and Bronze Tiger and Vixen
Nix Uotan and Josiah Power
They can make Naomi less shit now that Bendis is gone
They can even use Shiloh Norman as a human viewpoint character into the craziness of the Fourth World.
>>
>>153655519
John Stewart and Cyborg deserve better than to be lumped in with these literal who's.
>>
I just think it's weird Terrific didn't get a book after his great showing in the Superman movie.

so long as they give all the other races in American culture equal representation

mostly true for putting the Green Lanterns back into the public consciousness in the early aughts

No one them can carry a book and its not because of their skin color.

Hire Jim Balent to do a Vixen series

Black people only make up 13 percent of the US population. Theyre vastly over represented in US media.
>>
DC should just do this movement's demands
Regardless if it loses money
Regardless if the books are bad
Because if it does fail, they could have actual concrete proof

Ah, so this is the shitty codename that Mal is rolling with these days. This is basically the problem of DC comics and their black characters. They were made as a backup or to play second fiddle of a more established hero(s). So that is why they end up pushing replacements of other heroes. Like a kid using the uniform of a grown ass man.
>>
>>153661740
Mal is one of these characters that just don't have a direction, Bumblebee somehow has a more solid identity.
>>
>>153655843
It's funny too because you had shit like Milestone comics. All black, all the time. Creators, characters, all black. Why did they fold? Thirty years ago you had this black comic imprint and now it's gone.
>>
>>153659829
If only they bought 52% of the comics instead of making up a different figure instead then they'd get what they profess to want.

Again the character was meant to be just a supporting character. The love interest of Lilith, until Infantino stepped in and stoped the idea. And between his debut and what he became a superhero passed what? 6 years? Not to mention the almost 3 years hiatus that the Teen Titans book took before it. Also pairing him with Bumblebee was a mistake. Way to sink two characters together.
