A thread dedicated to various cartoons/animated movies that take place in Marvel.
>>153663256I wonder how Marvel animation would've continued/been if it wasn't for the Disney buyout who essentially have wasted and half assed any possible animated project regarding Marvel.
>>153663331Need more shows made for literal toddlers.
>>153663331>5 seasons of Spectacular Spider-Man >more EMH
>>153663371Wonder if Weissman would've been able to keep the quality going or if he would've pulled a Young Justice? Also yeah I am still sad there isn't more EMH, that show is essentially the single thing sustaining me for Hank Pym and Kang quality that isn't from Mackay.
>>153663355The only things I know from the Toddler shows is that infamous bit of Thing saying he never went to space, Symbie, JoJo pose Ultron and Arnim Zola being in the Spidey show for some reason.
>>153663382>Wonder if Weissman would've been able to keep the quality going or if he would've pulled a Young Justice?Everyone on /co/ always bring up that. But he wasn't the only person involved on its production. Victor Cook was also fundamental. If they weren't involved the show would probably be not very good. And he also had some retarded opinions back then, yeah>that show is essentially the single thing sustaining me for Hank Pym and Kang qualityI don't understand what's the deal with multiple writers not understanding characters, for decades. Same crap with Hawkeye
>>153663371Spectacular Spider-Man was horrendous, its wanked off because MUHHH DISNEY BAD
>>153663382Weisman lost it went Trump was elected and S&P had been torpedoed by Steven Universe in the 2010s. And he was given free rein because it was streaming. So, we would have probably got a few seasons of Spectacular because it was cancelled in 09. EMH, I don't know. It ended in 2012, when the absolutely abysmal era in comics (lynchpins being new Ultimate Spider-Man II, Kamala Khan, Carol rebranded as Captain Marvel) started and one would wonder if that and movie synergy would have bled over (see Fury). I would say, if we got one more season from Yost directly after, it probably would have been decent because he mostly adapted the classics. But a truly awful era in comics had just started and that had potential to impact adaptions.
>>153663446It could be a Disney production and I would still love it. That's a bad strawman, use a better one
>>153663256Ultimate Spider-Man made me a Spider-Man x White Tiger shipper..
>>153663466Carol is great and that Captain Marvel series was great though
>>153663442I remember Victor Cook being based in 2020 in calling out Phil LaMarr parroting the line that minorities need to voice minorities because he voiced Samurai Jack and according to his logic was taking a job away from an Asian actor. LaMarr has since deleted all of the tweets in the exchange.
>>153663554Absolutely not. Carol is great as Ms. Marvel. KSD's reinvention destroyed her.
>>153663442That's a fair point, a lot of people forget how many cooks are involved in one show hence why the quality can vary from production to production despite some overlapping creatives. Also god it's miserable how for every 4 writers that truly get and respect a character you can get like 2 or 3 who don't but produce so many issues and the sheer level of awful character assassination it can drown out what has been done with them. Hank Pym especially has it rough since only Al Ewing, Christos Gage and as I mentioned Jed Mackay have his back at all. Kang mainly just had Busiek who's not written anything recently I can recall, also Jed Mackay funny enough and maybe Mark Waid or Al Ewing? Honestly Kang's biggest problem, besides the MCU abominating adapting him, is how underused he tends to be compared to other major Marvel villains.
>>153663466Honestly it's funny to think how EMH is a time capsule of when Marvel wasn't forced to adapt it's absolute most dogshit characters and could balance adapting the classic stuff while adapting what was current while vastly improving on it like it's version of Secret Invasion.
>>153663585Meanwhile, the MCU and subsequent animated series are allergic to adapting anything that happened prior to the 2000s.
>>153663618It's still mental to me that for Thunderbolts they didn't just adapt the Busiek run when the whole half of everyone got snapped would be the perfect time to do it...course that would also require them to of introduced small scale supervillains or actually do Baron Zemo well in his debut. Hell whenever the MCU does adapt anything from before the 2000's they change it so much to be utterly unrecognisable.
>>153663693Natasha's movie also could've heavily featured Bucky as her love interest in flashbacks with him training her during the Cold War and rekindling their relationship in the present- taking from Brubaker's stories, but nooooooo. Have to have goofy versions of Russian characters instead and girl Taskmaster.
>>153663256Insane that Marvel gives work to people who don't know anything about comics and not Yost.
>>153663256I am actually rather liked Panther Quest, which had some weird ass thing where it was technically a completely new story that didn't really follow up from the Avengers show it was otherwise nominally connected to.It's a weird duck, essentially adapting a more kid friendly version of Priest's "kind of a controlling standoffish piece of shit" T'Challa who is constantly trying to play people and not explain things and doing his own shit while everyone around him becomes less happy about it. Again, in a kid friendly way.
>>153663740It's weird they made Red Guardian a father figure to Natasha instead of her ex husband, like what an odd shift with adapting the character. Also yeah it genuinely does suck how ignored Nataha and Bucky's relationship is, also the cope the director said for not faithfully adapting Taskmaster while not better using a villain that actually fit the story role or how Dreykov is just some lame strawman oc as the actual villain is just....just total trite. I don't even have to say much for how badly Falcon and Winter Soldier or Brave New World did since those just speak for themselves in the character usage and narrative stair falling.
>>153663466>if we got one more season from Yost directly after, it probably would have been decent because he mostly adapted the classicsHis original plans for season were were too good for us and this world.
>>153664180If there was anyone who could've made AVX not irredeemable shit it would be him. Also it's kinda funny the stuff that excites me most in that lineup is Dormammu showing up, an adaption of Evolutionary War hopefully including Rita Demara, Scarlet Witch getting to show up and Surtur finally getting resolved.
>>153664180This does say Captain Marvel instead of Ms. Marvel when presumably referring to Carol, which I don't know would have happened if it came right after, but the jackboots really mandated that Carol must be Captain Marvel in the 2010s and particularly after her MCU debut. I wish Whedon had been allowed to do what he wanted and introduce her as Ms. Marvel in Avengers 2, likely forcing the comics to follow suit and give Kamala an original codename.
>>153664457Carol as Ms. Marvel was great. I hate that Sana Amanat destroyed that to astroturf her self-insert.
>>153664180do you have the one that shows the original plans for season 2
>>153663446/co/ will crucify you for this, but you're right.
>>153665283Spectacular is the best onscreen adaption of Spider-Man and it's not particularly close. The one flaw was what they did with Kraven. Other than that, it's pretty much perfect.
>>153663446Kill yourself
>>153663256Slop.
>>153665363I have an irrational grudge with Spectacular making Montanna Shocker instead of Herman Schultz but that's a personal gripe and the rest of the show is done well.
EMH was cool but the constant Hulk and Hawkeye wank was getting old. Then they started wanking Yellowjacket
>>153665742Does wank just mean using a character somewhat significantly for you?
>>153663256i know im probably the only one who watched ultimate spiderman past the first episode but why did they do this? was jessie really that popular?
>>153663256Didn't Hulk have his show in USM-style?
>>153665929what the fuck
>>153665932Yes and it was terrible.
>>153667028I only remember the time when Hulk Moon fought Galactusfor whatever reasonWhat's terrible in that?
>>153665929I remember this crap
>>153667067It was basically a silly squad of Hulks that had video diaries that Rick Jones set up where Hulk was the amiable and responsible leader and Skaar was low in intellect and Red Hulk a gung-ho military guy.
>>153667376It was very much in the style of USM.
>>153663816>Yost>came on in the final season of XME>showrunner of EMH, FFWGH, IMAA>one of the head writers on WATXM>co-wrote Next Avengers and Hulk Vs.Pretty great run.
>>153663256EMH, the last time T'Challa was good.
>>153664180This is a bunch of trash, though.
>>153671651You're a bunch of trash, though
>>153669504They had the same guy come back in the Assemble show, but they made him do a Chadwick impression and copied the MCU version with his sister being annoying and the smart one.
>>153663256God, the season 1 finale of Earth's Mightiest Heroes was the tits. After a 3 parter epic battle in Asgard we get that solemn moment of Captain America looking at his broken shield, spots himself in his room, gets stunned by some laser by his doppelganger and it's revealed he's a Skrull. I was watching it online with a friend through skype and the two of us were just hyping up during that whole sequence. What's even better is just the dramatic irony while watching season 2, anytime Cap is on screen you're sitting there yelling at them "he's a skrull! Don't trust him!!!"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzN8CdV46b4
>>153665840Yes it does
>>153663563I always wondered if they doubled down on Carol because we liked Kamala and Rogue so muchAnd just hated us casual fans
>>153674197>we liked KamalaWho is we? She's a terrible character and doesn't sell.
>>153674648Carol is actually a good character, she's just written like shit because Disney really wanted a boring girlboss character
>>153674708Man....that's a terrible awful fucking take.
>>153674481Kamala Khan was huge on /co/ when they introduced her, had tons of fanart by our good drawfags and filled threads every dayTo me Carol was in a coma and Rogue had her powers and this was just perfect for me the casual fanSomehow the whole Carol Danvers miss marvel looked utterly retarded to me personally wasting a good new character like Kamala and a good classic character like Rogue at the same timeBut you know my opinion
Kamala was created because Sana Amanat wanted a self-insert and Marvel gave her a ton of power because of her political connections (first cousin is Huma Abedin and it got a promotion of the character with Obama at the White House). This is also why Carol changed to Captain Marvel. So Kamala could take the name and get the unearned credit.
>>153675077Bruh... Carol was only in a coma in X-Men TAS. Not the comics.
>>153675208Casual fan
>>153675133I thought the character was lovely well designed and well written, and I have no doubt chud republicans would campaign against it, I mean both a muslim and a democrat self insert must have really hurt their fee fees
>>153675294>mUh cHuDCharacter has no depth at all and has cannot be described at all without mentioning her religion, ethnicity, and the franchises she leached off of.
>>153675253If you think Carol was in a coma in the comics you're the casual
>>153675363Underage girl with stretchy powers becomes miss marvel, underage girl with stretchy powers who wears a scarfThat was very easy>>153675401I said so myself you are free to enjoy your shit marvelfags
Zero depth or anything compelling in that description. No one with a brain likes Kamala. She's a terrible self-insert designed to be sociopolitical propaganda.
>>153676475Just so you know you chuds killed a good new character and marvel comics with it
