No, it's pretty much all origin story tier setup as if they thought this would keep getting seasons. It's not worth much on its own.The only Pacific Rim content that's worth it's weight is the original movie. Even the comics aren't great.

I never got the point of continuing with this setting. The end of 1 showed the creators of the Kaiju have a fucking planet sized Kaiju factory. And the Kaiju were growing more advance than the Jaegers at an accelerated rate. The stakes pretty much implied if they didn't close the portal, the Kaiju would eventually win.The ending of 1 was supposed to be the one in a million chance at victory. That's how it was supposed to end.

There is enough worldbuilding in 1 that can justify more media exploring it before The Breach assault, like the implications that there are Kaiju Cults or the first jaeger vs kaiju battles.
