I'm not trying to be mean, but I never really got the point of Daredevil. All MCs in serialised fiction are defined by their rogues galleries, and DD has nothing beyond Kingpin, some mob bosses and Bullseye. He doesn't have powers so he cannot tussle with Spider-Man's villains. He doesn't kill so he doesn't get rid of the average gangbanger like Punisher. He just exists to punch hard and that's it. He changes nothing. He's useless. Why does he keep doing it? It's why the show has such a big problem; he's always doing the same thing. He's not a billionaire so that you can at least explain that he's going up against all kinds of threats. He's just a guy running around the same blocks beating up the same old mooks.>inb4 muh MillerThere's nothing in DD that can't be told with Batman or some other character.
>>153666340>He doesn't have powers so he cannot tussle with Spider-Man's villainsKingpin is a Spider-Man villain, and he fights Electro in his second appearance
>>153666340the courtroom stuff is his 'thing'>He changes nothing. He's uselessmeaningless argument when it comes to capeshit, 99% of heroes/villains never permanently kill/end each other for the sake of status quo
>>153666340DD is defined by three things1) ninjas2) new york catholicism3) legal bullshit>Why does he keep doing it?guilt and hypocrisy. he wants to be a good christian but wants to rain holy vengeance upon the evildoers. he wants to prove the rule of law works but can't help but take the law into his own hands and do vigilante shit. he does what he does just because he can, and because pretending he can't feels like squandering Yahweh's gifts and failing a religious test of character. That is the point. He's not a guy filling a niche in the hero/villain ecosystem. He's a guy conflicted and self-obsessed in a masochistic way. That's why his stories mostly focus on Hell's Kitchen, a single low income suburb in new york. In the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter. But to the people that live there it does. Likewise DD doesn't save the world, and sometimes he makes things worse, but he saves lives. and fights ninjas. You can ignore 90% of my post, DD is really just about ninjas
Daredevil exists because enough people find his stories interesting.>All MCs in serialised fiction are defined by their rogues galleries,This was not really true in the golden age. Batman was an early exception who started the practice. Most issues were about some random normal human criminal of the week. It took some years for supervillains to come into existence.
>>153666340Matt Murdock should work for Nintendo because he's literally a lawyer ninja.
