Frylock tried to be moralistic at times, the plots are normally driven by Shake doing something insane, or the guest monster of the week appearing and causing plot to happen. It's still kind of the same situation, a weird monster/alien comes around and causes trouble and normally Carl is roped into it until it kills him. If not Shake, then Moonenites, Plutonians, Frat aliens, Mothmonsterman, leprechauns etc.Most of the comedy comes from Carl being the most normal one having to deal with whatever weird scifi shit happening next door and hating all of it. While he is himself a disgusting piece of shit of a human being.
>>153668092A big factor in the show's success is that they have a perfect voice cast. Between three voice actors you get Frylock, Shake, Meatwad, and Carl. You can have them in a room talking and it's entertaining. Carl doesn't even have to tell any jokes to be entertaining, he can just talk in-character and it's both interesting and pathologically memorable. Good voice actors can turn bad writing into gold just with their delivery. Not that ATHF's comedic writing isn't good, but the voices put it over the top. And by perfect I mean perfect, not good. It's perfect. You can't replace anyone without ruining the show. This is why I'm convinced The Simpsons won't die, the voice cast is too good. They're so good that they're all soul-shackled to the show forever and never have time for anything else, which is a tragedy.
