> Found a random meme about anissa and mark.
>Is full of comments online that saying jokes aren't okay.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGhMxbN6nB0

Why is nowadays internet like this? Beforehand people would just laugh, or otherwise frown at it and move on, but now people feel the need to do some sort moral grandstanding and say "Making jokes about this is bad."

I think I miss the old internet.
>>
Because the internet became too easy to use and idiots out number smart people like they do in real life.
I imagine a soc med platform deliberetely designed to be too hard for most people to figure out.

Some combo of everything being driven by "algorhythms" manipulated by corporations/governments, ideological activism and the purity spiral therein that leads to a lot of performative virtue signaling and ideological fascism because the current system rewards it.

You don't deserve anything good though.

Many people are desperate for attention. This is true for most humans, and it has always been so, they yearn for the adoration and praise from their peers.

What happens on the internet nowadays is that people on social media want their praise from others, and they often do so by getting on their high horses and claiming a moral superiority to anyone who does anything they believe is even remotely reprehensible. They yell and point at others and say how bad they are and expect the others to see how good they are in comparison.

The end result is that you have an environment where everyone is scrutinizing everyone else for ANYTHING they can identify as being 'problematic'. Doesn't matter if it was something done or said a decade ago, they can use the scraps to try and feed their own ego.

How does criticizing the uploader for making a 20 sec meme stops misandry though? It's not like something will change by doing it.

>>153668756

Things seemed to have calmed down for a little in the past years but seem to have resurfaced after invincible and csm popped out. At least that was my impression because I didn't watch/read a work that had a fanbase so butthurt as these in years.

Maybe I've been living under a rock.
>>
>>153668609
The thing about jokes is they don't just stay funny alone forever if you've already heard them; you have to enhance them in the telling or just drop them for new jokes. "Lol rape" can be funny but this is just too lazy to make it funny. Stop blaming the world because you found a shitty meme that tries to be funny and fails.

More people are becoming performative because most people nowadays don't separate their real life identity from their online identity.
You're expected to have everything in the open and any hint of privacy is viewed with suspicion. And I'm saying this with complete honesty, but even interviewers for jobs with find it extremely suspicious if you don't any online presence.
It almost makes me resent the rise of social media, but at least there's some good that comes out of thanks to the dumber portion of the population.
>>
>>153668886
Yup. I do miss when this was all a novelty, and it wasn't so bloated and 'optimized'.
This thread probably won't last for too long.
>>
>>153668852

I didn't particularly care about the meme and moved on. It's just that I found weird why the comments under the video don't do the same and act as if they care, it all looks like posturing.
>>
>>153668609
Normgroids and third worlders got access to the internet. They brought their high school drama and retardation online. It has been a disaster.
>>
>>153668946
Does this thread need to last? If there are only retards left here then maybe it's a sighn WE should leave. Let them play with our trash as we move on to a new treasure
>>
>>153668946

Yeah, beforehand interaction felt more genuine and you'd find fun stuff within the algorithm because it wasn't that "optimized." as to speak.

Now it's all kinda of crap. I do miss seeing some novelties here and then.
>>
>>153668940
>most people nowadays don't separate their real life identity from their online identity.
This is true. As the internet became less of a novelty or straight work tool and became more of an ubiquitous and essential part of our daily lives, we started to pour more and more significance into it, to the point where some people live more on the internet and the persona they made for themselves there, than on the real life.

Am I fucking crazy or does it feel like everyone just intentionally ignore or otherwise downplays how many genuinely mentally disabled and/or mentally ill people have constant internet access now?
Like I swear to god this gets swept under the rug but when you actually check the accounts of people who act like this you'll always notice that they're literally doing this shit all fucking day in a way that isn't hyperbolic, they're logistically in some kind of position where someone or something is taking care of them while they're going mental on twitter and such 24/7 and they get to mooch off of welfare or whatever form of disability is keeping them afloat.

Again, am I just fucking crazy?
>>
>>153669202
There have always been crazy people on the internet, but they were mainly isolated to specific forums. Now with twitter, most people share a platform with those people.
Another thing is that more teenagers have gained easy access to the internet thanks to smart phones and unlimited data plans. We have an online space with hormonal teenagers with no real life experience and no room for nuance. The same teens that treat no being able to go to a party as the end of the world.
>>
>>153669347
The crazy people are the smart creative ones who are being trampled by an ocean of boring normies
>>
>>153668609

Maya were right all along, the world did end in December 2012.
>>
>>153669997
You're thinking of weirdos. Just because someone is weird doesn't mean they're crazy.
When I say crazies I'm talking about the people that would get kicked off of and banned from forums for posting unhinged shit.
>>
>>153669347
yeah but now people take fictional characters way too serious, the moment a character do something let say deplorable they try to cancel it as it we were talking about irl celebrities, like you before have those die-hard fans who where mocked for liking a character too much but now its a normal attitude and mostly applauded. unironically, social mockery should return.
>>
>>153668609
Bc things get old way fast. In the past that would have been fine every month or so, a joke. But, now all discussion of any pic daily about her is just comment upon comment about rape, pro-, anti-, "jokes". Every day, for months, years. People get sick of it! So it becomes less of a joke and more of a "I don't like this" for it, the references and the whole concept. It's not about sensitivity, it's just like Chinese water torture of stuff that wasn't very funny to begin with
>>
The internet became real life.
A lot of internet comments benefitted from anonymity and a lack of face to face vision to say things that would get people avoided or excluded if said in a normal situation. Or indeed in print.
That has changed as everyone has gone online but the barrier to direct connection remains. So we have the impulsive comments and the comments written by people who treat the conversation as if it was a talk in say a public park.

This is also why there is such a mismatch with offical policing. You can't send a death threat and a slur in the post or by telephone. But you used to be able to online even though it should have been covered by the same laws. Now people are trying to apply the same laws or have, but it doesn't mesh with the internet's inherent anonymity.
>>
>>153668609
The main reason is because normalfags can't separate fiction from reality. Internet was fine when it was just a few autists chilling in forums and watching shitty quality YT videos, but with social media having people expose themselves to literally everyone, everything "controversial" gets shat on either because of free internet points or normal people being that delicate. You can't have privacy anymore without people raising eyebrows at you because reasons. The line between internet and real life has been blurred.
>>
>>153668609
maybe you were the problem this whole time

Every single thing that features anissa and mark will have comments and replies like that

These people cannot separate fiction from reality and are actually way too retarded to do so
>>
>>153668609

It's not a joke. Everyone who "jokes" about it very overtly likes it. And it goes beyond not taking it seriously.
You're the same as those ageplying diaper furries who say they do it "for the meme".

>why is current discourse castrated
online feminism. that's your answer.

actual leftists will get blocked from "leftist" spaces on other social media if said leftist goes against the virtue signalling. so of course non political people have no awareness of this because why would they?

putting devices in young people's hands has led to actual, literal brainrot that there have been scholarly articles about. idiocracy was a thing but it really accelerated after the 2000s when kids started getting cell phones.

its also people not understanding that invincible, as a comic, doesn't hold up well at all. many of the interpersonal events are forced, one of them being the fact that mark can fight conquest but no anissa, his crying about it later but not about the unspeakable violence in the rest of his life, or the fact that he never had to pay child support or financial rape, it just doesn't come up in the minds of most people because they are not very deep thinkers to say the least

It’s kind of funny, despite how some people here still use “/co/mblr” as an insult it feels like nobody really talks about how this shit is basically all tumblr’s fault, that place was basically ground zero for entire communities of people sincerely treating cartoon characters like they’re actual flesh-and-blood people (hell, they’ll treat them like they’re more “real” and IRL people) and additionally expecting normal people to play into their delusions, despite the site itself being long-since irrelevant by now it’s basically tumblr’s cultural victory over the internet and we’re all suffering for it
>>
the zoomers aren't laughing because it's not animals being raped, bestiality is all they think about

Its because a man with a female anime pfp made a 38 minute rant video about how hazbin hotel is wrong because they tried to make you feel sad about the spider getting raped and then they made a joke about the snake getting raped, and then the pngtuber with the firey skull made a 1 hour 15 minute response video saying that it's a one off gag and since they're in hell it shouldn't matter, and then the first guy made a response to that video
