a movie feeling longer than it is means it effectively crammed a lot of story into it's runtime without feeling rushed, and still had enough downtime between important scenes to convey the passage of time.

TPM has like 10 acts with slow dialogue scenes to break them up and plenty of implied timeskips. So it feels much longer than a 2 hour movie, without being boring.

We have very different ideas of how to perceive movies, anon. I don't see a movie having a lot of things happen as feeling longer than its true runtime. It feels eventful, yes, but effective placement of story elements doesnt translate to a longer perceived passage of time.

So glad I found a dedicated fanbase here, so I can prepare a tl:dr, Ok…..ok…..ok let me start off by saying I hate these types of movies because it leaves me with not wanting it to be over, you know? I will say it should NOT have been a movie. Music was hauntingly beautiful, the choir when witnessing the Valley in flames, the credits theme with Indian singing, the Scandinavian music played through the bear scene and Ollies village scene. Ollies theme of course stays stuck in my head. Don’t overestimate the power of music. As for the movie, what has already been said? Characters are amazing. Animation was amazing. Favorite part was Ollie actually witnessing the Javans civilization Javan playing peekaboo with her baby was just….wholesome? Something magical about some of the thought scenes. Ivy/Ollie hugging made no amount of insulin supply effective. With the plot, it was great. Way too much stuff to cover. It felt…fast, the movie had too much things to focus on even all almost 2 hours. It really has a lot of potential in lore. Sacrifice the celeb voices and just give us the scenery.

My go to is Cinemark mostly. I tend to get “event” movies rarely. I don’t know why but having a straight to stream movie just depresses me. It almost feels like it’s nonexistent at times. I would prefer theaters too. I miss the good ole days lol streaming is only right when it was in theaters first. Not direct to stream. In this case making it limited would have been possible.
