New thread, this time dedicated to Ivy's sisters beacuse i feel they need love.It already beat the viwership of KPOP: Demon Hunters premierehttps://deadline.com/2026/05/swapped-netflix-top-10-1236899815/
>No big birb wife bringing you breakfast in bed
>>153668848That's pretty impressive.
>>153668848>>153668876>>153669782Good, Beautiful, and Wholesome things are more popular than dark, cynical, and disgusting things.
>>153668848Enlighten me on this movie because isn't the premise just the basic for cartoon shows "switching places to learn and gain respect for the other person"?
>>153668848Sisters? Where are the eyelashes? How do you tell them apart from the males?
>>153668848I like the birds a lot
>>153669848they're more colourful and have longer leaves. males are just green.this is backwards from how most birb species are in the wild, where the boys are nearly always the fancy ones. my only major hangup with the movie really. it would be cute if ollie turned all peacock on ivy.I think even blackbird males are more colourful in UV? might be wrong on that one.
>>153668848>It already beat the viwership of KPOP: Demon Hunters premiereThis is purposely misleading into making this seem impressice than it really is. K-Pop has NO marketing push by Netflix or Sony whatsoever, and its trailer was pretty mid. It was AFTER did K-Pop snowball into an event film
>>153669899and what was the marketing for this movie?
>>153669837I feel like it doesn't fall into that pit at all, it's more about them learning to rely on each other to survive than it is about walking a mile in the others shoes.it's super wholesome. give it a chance! your heart will not forgive you if you don't!
>>153669837Wholesome friendship with birb and a rodent
>>153669887At least Ivy is bigger than Javan Ollie which is accurate for birds where the females are usually bigger.
>>153669887It can be argued that Ollie's Javan form is a more vibrant green and he's got more of that bright green all over his body. Ivy is bigger and has duller yellows and oranges on her body. It's only the crest which is more showy on Ivy.
>>153669987I just noticed how fast thing went south from here.
>>153670358sign of good pacing in a movie, really. when it feels much longer than it actually is. I first noticed this with The Phantom Menace, it's just over two hours but it feels like a three or four hour epic.
Nimonabros not like this!
>I need to find another pod to turn back into a Pookoo>there was never Boogle>the Dzo!Theres no way the actors were saying all these ridiculous lines filled with mumbo jumbo terms with straight faces.
Smiles we couldn't protect
>Almost no fanart on DeviantArt>Nothing on Furaffinity>Nothing on PixivShould probably give it some time for people to start fully appreciating it, right? ....Right?
>>153672188This is going to end up being a slow burn thing that will always have some appreciation going on among die hards in the animash/warrior cats amv type circles. It will have a fanbase like something like Alpha and Omega or Spirit where there will ALWAYS be a slow trickle of stuff for those who know where to find it. Trust the plan.
>>153669821but enough about disney
where's the third act breakup?! this isnt normal!
one last post before sleep:anyone played Ori games? Will of the Wisps had a villain very similar to Firewolf. and the whole majestic trees, similar, a little.
>>153672377Third act breakup is where Firewolf "breaks" Ivy
>no one will ever love you half as much as this bird loves her rodent
>>153673423I can't stand to see her so teary eyed.
>>153673423>Her small feathers jump upon seeing him Cute
>>153668848Creative designs. Plot full of holes. Skydance sucks.
>>153671530That smile was never real, anon
>Finds unconscious fellow birb on a remote island>Bring him back>He spergs outWdyd?
Good movie but the voice acting is so fucking bad holy shit. I switched to local dub after 10 minutes because even that sounded way better.
>>153675136>localwhere u from, anon?
>>153675037ollie not knowing what to do with his wings is so cute. plus, it probably makes him look even more brain damaged to the other birbs.
Damn Ollie is lucky...https://files.catbox.moe/4f2qc6.jpg
What if Ollie and Ivy kissed... hahaha
>>153670536There is no fucking way this is organic. Lasseter paid for articles and views one hundred percent.
>>153676768people like cute things
>>153676162 Bassywolfeh/Bassybird/Badsybefuddle should be destroyed for being a pedophile degenerate
>>153676768Anon families and kids love animal movies and Ellison won't waste anymore money to boost viewership due being busy with the Warner merger.
>>153676768I hate Skydance Animation too anon but i have to admit that this was their best movie so far mostly beacuse im a big fan of Tangled and i can tell the co-director still can deliver specially without Byron Howard.I just pretend this is a Locksmith production instead also Ivy's a cutie that deserves to be protected at all costs.
>>153677340>Skydance AnimationWhat's the deal wit them?
>>1536776471st is that it was started by Lasseter and some people just really have it out for him2nd they just haven't really put out anything all that good (or so they say, this is actually the first of their movies I've actually seen)
Beside the story being pretty mediocre everything else was pretty good imo plus.
>>153678000story has always been the least important part of film
Went into this movie thinking it would be slop but was stunned, really good animation and REALLY good story even if it has some hiccups and didn't really break any boundariesthe villain sorta sucked ass, he gets like 2 sentences to explain his motives then just starts killing everyone again, a bit boring
>>153676846True
>>153674972True
>>153669837They don't switch places as much as they're forced to cooperate due to magic hijinks, which leads to them bonding and developing empathy. It's nothing new but it's charming.
>>153670385I'm pretty sure a good movie feels shorter than it is. A movie feeling longer tends to mean you're bored and more aware of how much time is passing.
>>153672377Boogle saw that shit coming after Ivy and Ollie turned into fish so he helped them make amends.
>>153675037Hide the fact i might have caused him severe brain damage.
>>153679174no, feeling bored is the sign of being bored.a movie feeling longer than it is means it effectively crammed a lot of story into it's runtime without feeling rushed, and still had enough downtime between important scenes to convey the passage of time.TPM has like 10 acts with slow dialogue scenes to break them up and plenty of implied timeskips. So it feels much longer than a 2 hour movie, without being boring.
>>153675037>>153678398Aww
>>153679354We have very different ideas of how to perceive movies, anon. I don't see a movie having a lot of things happen as feeling longer than its true runtime. It feels eventful, yes, but effective placement of story elements doesnt translate to a longer perceived passage of time. On a personal note, the Phantom Menace is a huge bore to me. I agree that it feels long because holy hell whenever i watch it i start checking the time halfway through. I have no issue with Attack of the Clones or Revenge of the sith though.
>>153679529some films have a lot of things happen that feel rushed at a breakneck pace, and a lot of modern animated movies fall into this trap, good example being the mario shit.having too much shit is not remarkable, that's just a bad movie. it's remarkable when there is a lot of story but each scene is still allowed to breathe.>The Phantom Menace is a huge bore to mesoulless people can't be helped.
anyway the point is, even though swapped isn't really that long, it has the same kind of pacing mastery as TPM, it feels like we're with these characters for a lot longer because they do have a lot of scenes that are given time to breathe. and I think that's part of the appeal, you come to like them more because of it, you feel more immersed in their world because of it.it doesn't have 10 acts like TPM, but it has a different focus.
>>153679587I'll ignore your misguided liking of Phantom Menace. The thing is a movie being able to shove a certain amount on story in an interesting way during it's runtime is not related to how long it is nor is a movie feeling 'long' some badge of honor.
>>153679653Are you just trying to suck off Phantom Menace?
>>153679672being able to show a lot in a short time without feeling short is a badge of honor. it's mastery of the true movie magic.
>>153679688for this particular point? yes. I've seen 3+ hour films that feel less than half as long as TPM and you're just left exhausted from sitting down for too long and didn't really get anything out of it. I've seen shorter films that rush along never letting you appreciate what is happening, leaving you feeling like you barely got to see anything.and relating it back to swapped, it does a similar kind of thing, letting you feel like their journey is long and emotionally rewarding when, in objective screentime terms, it's not. it's mastery of pacing.
>>153679692A movie feeling long is not a good thing, anon. It's either just right or it's off. If it feels long, it's not getting your attention enough and if it feels short then it didnt resolve things properly. I don't question pulling off a well executed plot in a somewhat short time is great but i don't agree that such a thing makes a movie feel longer than it is.
>>153679711I think you're conflating perceived passage of time with worldbuilding. Phantom Menace does have a lot of that and not much else of value, but i can't argue it does set up it's larger world nicely. I guess i can see how that translates to Swapped, but again 'long' is hardly the word i would use.
>>153679725you may be getting the meaning confused.if you think "feels long" means "I feel like I've been sitting here forever and nothing has happened", then yes that is a bad thing. But TPM has like 10-12 acts, 3-4 movies worth of material, but none of the scenes feel rushed, the characters have the time to sit down and really talk about things inbetween lengthy action set pieces and three separate endings. so when you come to the credits you feel like you've been along the ride for days in-universe, but it was only 2 hours.so it feels longer than it is, without wasting your time. mastery of pacing.
>>153679778Anon, Phantom Menace does not have 10 acts nor does it have multiple movies worth of material. Honestly, i'm less interested in justifying why i believe your definition of a movie feeling long is flawed and more on why the heck you think so highly of Phantom Menace. It isn't even the best movie in the prequel trilogy.
>>153679857I used it as an example of a film that did this one particular thing really well.
>>153679963More like you're glorifying it to absurd heights. It's not even a good example because you're just sucking Phantom Menace off and not pointing out the actual technicalities of it.
>>153679989more like you lash out because I said a good thing about something your reddit hivemind didn't permit me to.
>>153680010I'm not lashing out anon, just really confused at your description of Phantom Menace and your weird definition of long movies.
>Movie is making a shit load of money>Almost no one is really talking about itSomething about this is off. Dosen't help that AI art like this >>153669875 is being posted
>>153680124the mario movies made a shit load of money too and no ones talking about those eitheralso>AI artenlighten us, smart guy
>>153678256Yeah, felt budget cuts with his "tell, don't show'. But it's a small studio.Excusable
>>153675136Agreed. The voice of the Firewold just doesn’t fit him in any way
Post yfw Dzo.
So glad I found a dedicated fanbase here, so I can prepare a tl:dr, Ok…..ok…..ok let me start off by saying I hate these types of movies because it leaves me with not wanting it to be over, you know? I will say it should NOT have been a movie. Music was hauntingly beautiful, the choir when witnessing the Valley in flames, the credits theme with Indian singing, the Scandinavian music played through the bear scene and Ollies village scene. Ollies theme of course stays stuck in my head. Don’t overestimate the power of music. As for the movie, what has already been said? Characters are amazing. Animation was amazing. Favorite part was Ollie actually witnessing the Javans civilization Javan playing peekaboo with her baby was just….wholesome? Something magical about some of the thought scenes. Ivy/Ollie hugging made no amount of insulin supply effective. With the plot, it was great. Way too much stuff to cover. It felt…fast, the movie had too much things to focus on even all almost 2 hours. It really has a lot of potential in lore. Sacrifice the celeb voices and just give us the scenery.>Movie becomes a cult classic and retrospective in positivity. All the negative reviews those dumb fuck RT critics will realize there retardation and reevaluate reviews to push to a 87%. >Skydance will make an even better sequel (hopefully no John by that time) fixing the flaws and cliches and will become the best fucking movie in the whole damn universe that will make Toy Story its bitch.
>>153668848Showing love for Ivy’s sisters, honestly I assumed the whole Javan flock was British til I heard the Pixar guy voice in the elder. Great chemistry despite having a somewhat decent amount of screen time. Still can’t believe Ivy’s parents died, but from I got Ivy was a VIP for finding food?
>>153681135I thought they were going to lure him into the hole and get him to say something like pookoo
>>153682173shorter
always loved how gritty the intro issuch a shame they didn't go in this direction, felt like the movie lost a lot of aura to make the movie brighter and more saturated
>>153682433>lost a lot of auraIncredible how i can guess your age just by this sentence
>>153682113same, but Ollie is a clever rodent.
>>153682759if you guess 25 then you're right
>>153677340>She becomes a Pooko during mating season and smells Ollie's scent
>>153670536Wow, didn't realise Nimona flopped that hard.Good that The Twits flopped too, fuck that film
>>153670536The fuck you mean The Twits mogged Nimona
>>153683848>>153684058Makes sense when you know that Nate Stevenson has been vocal that Disney still owns a part of the IP with the merchandise.
>>153684058It's still based on a book by one of the most popular children's authors of all time.
>>153684058Nimona is just for queer people only everyone has forgotten about it after it lost the Oscar
Ivy's cute... CUTE
You think with the giant coming back Ollie and Ivy will end up switching more just for fun or to hang our together? Ollie especial seemed to enjoy flying.
oh no, Swapped is losing to Goat on netflix in some places
>>153687499He likely likes flying with Ivy more
>>153687713Dosn't count beacuse Swapped is a Netflix Original Movie, movie's sucessful in their eyes
>>153686888big stronk birb chest
>this shot will NEVER EVER be seen on the big screenI hate streaming so fucking much.
>>153681374Yeah she stated that it's her duty to have everyone fed up during Winter.
Would Ollie and Ivy prefer to have Javan or Pooko kids?
>Firewolf’s claws are firestrikers10/10 creamed my jorts
>>153688671why not both?
>>1536884184k bluray cut when>implying (((they))) still sell dvds
>>153688334I want what they have
>>153691360You'll find your (non-bird) loving wife one day, anon.
>>153688706I like his desing even thought his motivations are stupid
>>153692222Scorn agaisnt the world at large due to being abandoned as a child is simplistic but not stupid.
>>153692356I only wish they didn't cut the traditional scene explaining his backstory.
>>153692449they probably cut it for the monologue to make him less sympathetic
>>153692222The French dub did him a favor
>>153692222His shoulders being burned wood is such a nice detail
I love Ivy!I love Ollie!I love Violet!I love Lily!
>>153692449So he was a treewolf, that confirms my suspicions. Regardless, we don't really need to see this, his origin matters less than the imminent threat he poses at that moment.
>>153694812Ok Pup Wolf
>>153694812Fuck i wish we had more of the four won't mind seeing a short where they do a simple task like taking care of the baby Javas and they still manage to screw it up.Seems that they could have a fun dynamic.
>>153686888Pooko Ivy a cutie
what if ivy stank haha
>>153692449So Firewolf was only a cub when he took the pod and killed everyone? Fuck, that's dark. Surprising they wouldn't redeem him if he was genuinely a hurt child.
>>153691004you will own nothing and be happy
>>153692449nice hips
>>153691004>>153696796BD wouldn't help, it'd still be on a TV. I wanna see the spectacle. the movie is too beautiful to be stuck on TV and monitors.
>>153696740I imagine that also got disregarded when the sequence was cut, since we see him in the story told at the start
>>153695143Cut out the first second or so and rename the webm “talonjobs”
>>153695143Unfortunately going by the other past movies the shirts seemed to focus on lesser characters. Most likely the wolf cub they saved. Ugghh, I can’t be the only one who couldn’t stand his voice. Also I felt some ray of sunshine with his movie breaking a record, but realized this wasn’t new considering the previous film did well to too with views.
>>153697761Sorry “shorts” not shirts, also I know it’s nothing special but did not know Ivys voice actor was in raunchy stuff before. So her being a horny birb is canon.
>>153696808my theaters suckthey would only play the movies I want to watch in the worst big screens while playing anime movies on the better ones then charges highway robbery
>>153696740I mean, he straight up said he was abandoned when young. He might have been a child then but he sure isn't one now.
>>153695143Geez Ivy's so rough, imagine the sex with Ollie when she wants him to get her eggnant
>>153698435My go to is Cinemark mostly. I tend to get “event” movies rarely. I don’t know why but having a straight to stream movie just depresses me. It almost feels like it’s nonexistent at times. I would prefer theaters too. I miss the good ole days lol streaming is only right when it was in theaters first. Not direct to stream. In this case making it limited would have been possible. I guess it’s better than direct to video I guess. But still I wish this was by a different company in this case. I think that’s where it got screwed honestly. It does feel like theater quality at times. But animal farm got one is a sin and Mario galaxy movie……ugh.
>>153699001>Yes Ollie, javans do mate for a minimum of ten consecutive hours>Yes, you gotta stay tied up>No, you can't turn back into a pookoo, i want that firewolf knot
>>153699170what's the difference between firewolf's and treewolf's knot?
>>153699244Firewolves are thicker and take longer to stop swelling. Treewolves are longer though.
Why were all the creatures hybrids of animals and plants except for the rodents?
>>153699430Maybe it's because pookoos lived in sch properity that they didn't need to evolve in a way that blends in with the environment. Or the animators didn't have much of an idea how to make a small brown rodent have a plant motiff.
>>153699170>Pooko when she needs a quickie>Javan when she feels romantic >Firewolf when she feels freaky
Firewolf was pretty kino. I love stupid edgy shit
>>153668848OH, they're not from this valleyThey eat all our seedsThey're self-absorbed and hop and squawkWhenever they speakThey lay loads of eggs and Need large accomadationsFuck all these JavansThey just bring aggravationFuuuck Javanschase 'em back where they belongFuuuuck JavansHit 'em with sticks, rocks, and stonesIf they're in trees above youThey will shit on your roofThey're awful nasty creaturesWe all know the truthWhen one of them just sprains a wing The flock cries all the timeBut no one gives a damn about us Wooden lupines!Fuuuck Javanschase 'em back where they belongFuuuuck JavansHit 'em with sticks, rocks, and stonesTo ACTUALLY fuck a Javan would be WRONG.
>>153699430>tfw you are told that this movie takes place in the world of Monster Hunter.
>>153700730>Fuck JavansDon't mind if I do.Say, you haven't seen any pods around have you?
>>153700730>Fuck JavansOllie does it every night with Ivy heheheheh
>>153700918ahhh she's so adorable I want her to peck me
>People on Twitter pissed on the movie beating KPOP: Demon Hunters What a shame on being mad at a little comfy movie like this one.
>>153700992opinions doesnt matter, facts do: it's a comfy movie for sunday afternoon
>>153700939Her still trying to peck Ollie while being a Pooko was a cute detail
