We get our latest Muppet crossover to help advertise the FIFA World Cup.

Normally, this'd be great, but there's a weird "The Disney Princesses aren't allowed to look at each other" vibe to the whole thing. Elmo looks surprised when Kermit and Piggy show up, but other than that nobody really acknowledges or interacts with each other or says anybody's name. This same issue was present in 2024's "Happy Birthday, Jim Henson!" where Kermit, Oscar, and Gobo were all speaking to each other, but none of them said each other's names or acted like they knew each other, and they acted like they were all meeting for the first time.

Does Disney have some weird "The Muppet Show Muppets can share the screen with the Sesame Street and Fraggle Rock Muppets, but cannot acknowledge their presence" rule in place or something?
>>
So was that Sesame Street movie that was supposed to come out years ago just quietly cancelled?

The one with Anne Hathaway, where the gang gets "lost in New York City" (I never understood how that was supposed to work, that's their home neighborhood)? Yeah, pretty sure it has been. There's no way David Zaslav would do something like let a family film make it to theaters.

Kermit should know Gobo. They met in the Christmas special.
>>
>>153673325
Sure, but he should know Oscar too, and they all act so detached from one another, like they're all strangers who just happen to know Jim.

Probably. To be fair, Jim was very anal in keeping his Muppet universes segregated. The occasional cameo here and there, but Sesame Street was its own thing and aside from Kermit, Jim wanted to keep it that way to his final hacking breath.

wait, who authorized this? since when are they allowed ANY crossover between sesame street and the rest of the muppets? That ended with the sale to disney.
>>
>>153675043
Not really. he wanted to keep Sesame Street away from DISNEY specifically. But he was happy to let the shows cross over before he was trying to sell to disney. and disney would not give up sesame street, so

Presumably, the only thing preventing it is if Disney is willing to play nice or not, and it seems like they're more willing to do so in the last few years.

Yeah, apparently Disney wanted Sesame Street specifically, so they just went after the Muppets in their entirety, but then Jim sold Sesame Street to Children's Television Workshop specifically to keep it away from Disney, and it was apparently too late for them to back out.

>Disney Princesses aren't allowed to look at each other

WTF are they Siamese fighting fish or something?
>>
>>153679378
For years, for the Disney Princesses merchandise line, Disney had some weird ass policy where if the Princesses were looking directly at each other and actually interacting (as opposed to just standing in a group ignoring each other), it'd break immersion or some shit since they're all from different stories and have never REALLY met each other, or something. Thankfully, they've gotten rid of this in recent years and the Princesses can now look at each other.

I love that car model
>>
>>153678445
Jim was fine with small cameos, not full-on crossovers.
>>
>>153681344
*Well, there was the one Christmas special, but that was obviously a very special occassion.
>>
>>153681344
But when the "small cameos" were happening roughly all the time, what's the difference, really?
>>
>>153682355
The main difference is that when Kermit visits Sesame Street, he acts like his Muppet Show friends don't even exist.
>>
>>153675043
The Sesame Street gang showed up in The Muppets Take Manhattan.
