It's not that bad. dare I say, it's even kino?
I remember being very excited for this film as a kid. I never get excited for new disney movies anymore. hard to live up to the original but they progressed the story in a cool way, despite it being somewhat depressing that Max and Roxanne never got together.
Feels like a time capsule movie that is weird and wouldn't get made anymore due to everything being extremely market-tested and formulaic these days.

yes
>>
reminder that eichiro oda based wanda off goofy's gf in this movie
>>
the bmx shit was sooo fucking early 2000s coded. also, sex with beret girl

uhh source

It's a movie better in clips or playing skip with the remote. The actual plot is pretty boring but, some scenes are cool. REALLY, REALLY cool if you get my meaning 9w9
>>
>>153682722
Disney has never before or since made an animation movie that tries so hard to be cool and hip as this one
>>
>>153682783
see both side by side, besides hair oda really based wanda on her, also zou arc was based on his time watching disney movies

They should have

Was a bit too focused on the X games which was studio interference. Felt like it could've done with love interests for all the characters, especially Max as we never really see any of this independence he's after.

>Early 2000s coded
The fucking film came out at that time retard, it's not "coded" anything
>>
>>153682874
so the source is your ass?
>>
>>153682909
thats a fair critique. the original movie was so much about max and his dads relationship, and this one feels like a sitcom plot. fun for what it is, but a way less serious and impactful film overall.

I loved how Goofy is a bumbling oaf but absolutly fucks on the dancefloor.
Haha remember when a 2000s era show had a retro flashback and the 70s were conisdered old?
Now retro shit means ...2000s, or even early 2010s.
>>
>>153682722
i was like there is not way they will make any movie goofier than the previous one and there we go!

>It's not that bad. dare I say, it's even kino?

I wouldnt say it was bad, but its pretty lackluster.

It may feel orginal now, but it was pretty by the book story wise. The whole going to college and wowy we are going to solve the problem with a sports competition had been done at least 5 or more times with films done in the 70s and 80s. Dad going back to college AND thr same college as kids and wowy love is in the air had been done before too.

He'll, half the plot points can be found in revenge of the nerds.

Also real down grade on character designs. You can really tell the team is tired of drawing anthro animal people. Almost all of the orginal characters are just humans with black dot noses.

Also kind of bullshit they dropped Roxanne and Peg. And Max's music aspirations. All that build up in the first movie and its just flushed to make a generic college movie.

I feel like most of extremely is also flushed. Like, don't none of romantic interests of either movie just not appear in that christmas special that was the finale onscreen depiction of Max? No Roxanne, no Sylvia Marpole.

Its ok. Better than the worst goof troop episode. But it very much is a C+ movie, much like the college movies it shares a plot with.
>>
>>153684904
I cannot take Sylvia seriously.
>>
>>153684771
Yup.
If Max aged with real time he'd be around 45 years old now, with a teen of his own.
WHYYYY Disney didn't do a third Goofy movie I don't know. Maybe the teen is a girl who has conflicts with Max but gets along with Goofy, who then tells embarrassing stories to his granddaughter and Max is all "goddamnit dad"
>>
>>153684928
Isnt she just a retread of the teacher feom the first 16 episodes of troop? Like that girl in the christmas special is just Roxanna with short hair (because they didnt want to animate hair)?

As good as goof troop and movie was, they could get kind of lazy
>>
>>153683519
As a 2000's kid i love it. Things were really cool back then if you were a kid. So getting to enjoy that stuff again is pretty neat. If you were an adult at the time it probably wasn't so hot but, i don't have to imagine that
>>
>>153684958
that's not the reason
>>
>>153684954
I feel like disney is leaving money on the table by not doing a Goofy Lifetime movie.

Have Peg, Roxanne and Sylvia vacation in the same mountain town as Pete, Goofy and Max. Main story is Max and Rox trying to reconnect. Second story is Goofy and Sylvia trying to help Pete. Sub plot shows Pete getting screwed over by goofy's baffoonery until Peg finally discovering how much he cares.
>>
>>153682722
Among the direct to dvd Disney movies, this was is up there among the few good ones
>>
>>153682722
The only problem is Roxanne being completely memoryholed. The entire plot of the first movie was Max running a crazy scheme to impress her. She atleast deserves a mention in the sequel.

Seeing that intro after so long still gets me hyped up
