Why is Devil Dinosaur so rarely crime fighting with Lunella in this show? It's almost a rarity in a show about them being a superhero duo. If they are in the same episode, they're usually separated in an A and B-plot. Lots of kids cartoons can make do with an animal character who barely talks and still give them a big spotlight. Stitch, Courage, all of Tom & Jerry, Gromit, Dumbo. Pokemon has been going on for decades where the cute animal sidekick can only make noises and it hasn't been a problem for them. The show does some pantomiming stuff and uses stylish graphics to "translate" Devil Dino, so it's not like they don't already do that. But it feels like the writers suffer from the same issue as the Ducktales reboot where they just don't know what to do with a character rather than they CAN'T do anything. Like, Ducktales kept insisting that Donald didn't meet his full potential as a character unless he spoke perfect English. This show kind of does the same thing where they think Devil is too big, so uuhhh, let's have a shrinking episode, yeah, then we can finally do stuff with him. Cause I guess they can't imagine many scenarios where their T-Rex character is T-Rex sized. Which is especially funny considering Primal is right there and hasn't had any issues with a character being physically too big for the story. I know they're two very different shows, but to boil it down to absolute simplicity, they're still both about a human and t-rex fighting side-by-side. And yet, Fang feels like a much stronger presence in Spear's life than Devil does in Lunella's.
