>>153708253Frank's whole appeal is that his comics are shlocky '80s/'90s action movies in comic book form. He's not a deep character, he's not a complex characte. Some times he's shooting gangstes, some times he's fighting drug cartels in South American jungles, some times he's going after human traffickers, whatever. There will be lots of bullets, lots of explosions, people being shot and thrown out of windows and Frank, like Rambo, will basically be stoic about it. Too many people want these human moments but that's not really why anyone reads Punisher. They want to see guys get Franked while shit blows up and Punisher looks at his enemies with a look somewhere between disinterest and casual disgust before punching or shooting them or whatever. I'm not really a Punisher fan and don't particularly like the character but just from what I can see that's his appeal and that's why he works.In fact, Punisher is one of those characters who I think would benefit greatly from the '90s Venom thing instead of a traditional ongoing. Make each story arc its own miniseries with a title and premise and keep the continuity somewhat loose in that you can read Y Punisher mini without being lost if you haven't read Punisher F or Punisher X or whatever even if there are some elements that carry through between them.
