No updates right?
>>
>>153709765
Glitch posted for the anniversary of the pilot and they did confirm they were working on it but they had to wait for TADC to end to go full steam ahead with it
>>
>>153709687
i think that gaslight district has been my favorite out of everything glitch has put out so far.
>>
>>153709783
i wonder how thin they are spreading their own production when they are doing these many projects at the same time
>>
>>153709807
They've already outsourced most of their 2D animation to an Irish studio called "Studio Meala", so they've got their work cut out for them on the CG front.
>>
>>153709807
Probably not much. People underestimate how much of a boon TADC was for them in terms of money. So they can 100% afford 4 different animation teams working seperately on 4 different shows. I guess their idea is that none of their shows are ever gonna be as popular as TADC, so they'll use the TADC money to give every jim jenkins who comes to them with a show idea the time of day in order to make up the difference and hopefully attract some former Digital Circus fans as well as some new blood.
>>
Im glad theres finally new good cartoons to watch, from like 2019 to 2023 there was barely anything to watch that wasnt a sony/dreamworks movie or anime.

It justs kinda weird that they are all lore cartoons. It's like a inversion of the mainstream animation companies like cartoon network and nickelodeon that only do comedy shows now.
>>153709881
TADC is the golden goose (lol) but if they can manage to sell merch and cultivate a big enough audience with all of these new shows then they will be able to survive until they get a new major hit
>>
>>153709923
>that only do comedy shows now
WDYM? We're still getting loreshows. The only difference is that Glitch's cartoons have a mild edge.
>>
>>153709940
By cartoon and nick? Maybe im not paying attention to them enough but the last time i ever seen any of these doing anything of the sort was the frog show and the owl show (not counting continuations to old stuff like fionna and cake)

Why does it keep getting delayed?
>>
>>153709923
The modern audience cares more about lore and plot than anything else. So much so that they’ll call scenes that focus on developing characters “filler”.
>>
>>153709988
I think a variety of both is the best case scenario
>>
>>153709967
>not counting continuations to old stuff like fionna and cake
There's Iyanu, but I hardly hear anybody talk about that one.
>>
>>153709973

>>153710008
100%. Plot, setting, and characters are all important, and ideally they all support a central theme. However, the sentiment used to be that character was the most important factor involved by a wide margin. Especially in cartoons, where the episodic nature demanded for characters to carry everything. Now since people’s attentions are so divided and spastic, it’s necessary to set up an interesting plot hook and a ton of questions in order to farm engagement. I don’t think that this is necessarily bad, as long as character is still an important focus.

At the end of the day cartoons are a business and indies are no exception. They're only pretending to hate ai until it makes them rich.
>>
>>153709923
> they will be able to survive
They were already self sufficient by murder drones. TADC allowed them to rapidly expand, but they don’t need that level of success to keep the lights on. All that did was give them a massive fucking slush fund.
In other words, while your post implies they will have to make do until the next TADC type success, that’s backwards. Their company will be massively successful if they can pull murder drones numbers. Anything beyond that is extra icing on the cake.
>>
>>153709973
TADC was keeping their 3d team occupied. Now that production has wrapped they’re rolling directly into GD. Be patient.

>>
>>153709881
Speaking as someone who's worked for a media company that struck gold with a huge hit, expanded beyond reason, and is now shrinking like the Ttian submersible while bleeding bitter, burnt out employees, I hope they know what they're doing
>>
>>153709687
I told you bitches it had no hook. Y'all were skeptical but it just doesn't.
>>
>>153712096

>>
>>153712096
Has ai actually made anyone rich apart from nvidia?
>>
>>153712455
No
In fact the biggest thing at the start of the year was how next year AI companies are gonna lose billions and sora getting shut down
Because investors realized that they weren't making money back for what it costs to run it publicly
>>
>>153709687
This should have been a 2D animation. It doesn't look good as a 3D one.

AI has meaningfully accelerated revenue and margins for the big hyperscalers, all of whom have beaten expectations this quarter. It's just not profitable yet because of the massive capital expenditure. We're still in the early days of infrastructure building.
This feels invisible to most people because the impact is still largely in a business-to-business context. It'll only become tangible to the masses when autonomy shows up at scale in the real world, starting with cars. FSD is real, it's good, and the only people still denying this are political partisans, or those in industries that are about to be upended by it.
AI is waiting for business models and use cases to catch up.

https://youtube.com/@companyman114
This channel should be required viewing for anyone starting a company because the patterns never change regardless of industry. Success is never a mandate to expand and expansion carries a separate set of management skills most entrepreneurs don't have enough experience to foresee. The other pattern this channel keeps showing is acquisition leading to doom. My brother, a former M&A attorney, points out M&A rarely involves two healthy companies. Add to this that creatives are inherently terrible businessmen who will eventually trust someone noncreative to steer them and the rest isn't hard to predict.
>>
>>153712474
>and sora getting shut down
I'm a software dev and filthy slopper who came out of CGI whose only motivation is seeing where the limits are and when Sora's demos came out it was obvious the emperor had no clothes and they were hoping to fake it until they could make it.
Generative AI's main problem is it's not production pipeline friendly, because by definition it can't produce consistent ENOUGH results. You want to make music videos or fake movie trailers made of 3 second clips where no one notices details changing? It's great. An actual show or movie? You're fucked regardless of how large your resources are. This isn't a "you said AI can't do fingers, now look" situation (better training, bigger attention), this is "the technology can't scale" which even the big boys in the room can't solve.

Goonerbait MC, good riddance.

That is all of Glitch's shows, just fine-tuned to specific gooning audiences.
>>
>>153713431
NTA but as someone who fucks with it and follows the places where people use it, shit plateaued a year ago. Even if Nvidia was giving away 128GB video cards for free right now, the most we'd get in return was THREE characters interacting without starting to wear each other's clothes and SLIGHTLY better physics because even VLMs aren't hierchical the way CGI is and so far no one's been able to marry AI and CGI.
AI walled really fast.
>>
>>153717476
He knew exactly which buttons to push and made it sound plausible. I think what happened was he initially believed this could work but sold it as soon as he realized it didn't.
>>
>>153709687
Why is the MC female? In these sorts of gritty settings a male MC is needed because of the sheer sexism that would exist in the setting
>>

>Why is the MC female?
Why are you unable to relate to a character who you aren't pretending is yourself

You really don't expect the animation to be as amazing as it ends up being at first glance. If we ever get to choose what pilot gets to be a full series, this one has my vote.

that is a really unappealing thumbnail
>>
i want to fuck this thing so bad
>>
>>153712096
there is a huge difference in using AI tools vs prompting.

Prompting= Codefags
AI tools= shit like better and faster tweening fixing perspective, auto shading, rotating, auto linework, etc.
>>
>>153714448
>AI has meaningfully accelerated revenue and margins for the big hyperscalers, all of whom have beaten expectations this quarter.
I see! Very impr-
>It's just not profitable yet
Ahaha
>>
>>153709687
Gaslight District >>> Gayoverse

It's a more interesting story told in a more engaging way, less derivative, and even if both are very messy, GD is really fun in its mess, instead of a eye roller like GV gets.

No, i will not play the two cakes fallacy, the two cakes pic implies two GOOD cakes. Gameoverse is just like Monkey Wrench, good animation, mediocre (closer to bad) story. Gato sexo.
>>
>>153719993
>Monkey Wrench
Ah yes, a gato sexo just like Monkey Wrench
>>
>>153720069
To be fair, at least i can say Gato Sexo is a more appealing main character than two gays Cowboy Bebop ripoffs.
>>
>>153719258
>shit like better and faster tweening fixing perspective, auto shading, rotating, auto linework, etc.
Generic tools for generic people. It’s telling that you seem to view these tasks as busywork devoid of artistic or creative decisions. Each step that you cede to AI is a step that is generically fulfilled contributing to the enshittification of your production. But as an in creative person, you won’t know the difference anyway. You’ll just clap your hands for whatever the flanker poops out.
“Thank you, Claude. That line work doesn’t look like absolute shit because I have no passion and couldn’t tell the difference between good and bad anyway”.
>>
>>153720107
More like earthworm jim ripoffs, nowhere near the level of Cowboy Bebop
>>
>>153717727
Its not about relating its just ridiculous the MC is female in this sort of setting
>>
>>153709687
No hot guys to keep the discussion up.
>>
>>153717621
>because of the sheer sexism that would exist in the setting
why would a gritty atmosphere/setting require sexism? it's tens of thousands of years after the end of the world so it's not connected to our reality at all, what if they got the fuck over it?
>>
>>153720673
i use Cowboy Bebop as the reference for MW 'cause Zeurel used it as reference. Not saying they're on par, quite the opposite.
>>
>>153720723
Right because the rest of the setting and premise are grounded
>>
>>153719993
>two cakes fallacy
There's literally no fallacy
Artist compares his work to other's not realizing choice matters more
>>
>>153719148
>Hey Liam! Can I copy your homework?
>Sure, just change a few things so people won’t immediately notice.
>>
>>153719028
Could have leaned more in on graphic design than mugging the camera, i agree
>>
>>153709687
Still a billion times better than gameoverse
>>
>>153722527
Yet the consumer should not consume two cakes blindly. Therefore the fallacy that no matter the other artist's work quality, your work will be consumed. No, the viewer can (and should) reject bad quality regardless of other works' quality.
>>
>>153723990
We should try to get more people to take a look back and appreciate this and Gwenivere now that we got something to dunk on. The way we keep indie animation from dying out is if the cream of the crop rises and gains support. If they waste time on mid shows they'll have to close up shop early
>>
>>153709687
Nah, I think Gameoverse will be more forgotten after people got tired of gooning to the same cat girl for few days. There is no other stuff to look forward to see in that show while Gaslight has some potential for deeper lore and edgy tumblr men characters
>>
>>153724012
anon have you never heard the phrase "you are your own worst critic"? it's the same shit.
>>
>>153712143
KoG will be their next TADC. Gaslight will be their risky experiment greenlight. Gameoverse will be shelved until they see how it compares to Lackadaisy.
>>
>>153719993
the big problem with gaslight district is that it blew its load too early, and what was supposed to be our introduction to this new world ended up overwhelming.
the big problem with gameoverse is that it FUCKING SUCKS.
>>
>>153724072
Episode 2 will be the real make or break. Right now it's a stylish pilot with potential but, we're low on steam months later. If we can get some comf, some action, some more character, we can really get going places. If the next ep is just as faced paced i think people will just think it's not their thing. I hope Mel gets more wifeable
>>
>>153724097
Yeah, but the image also implies directly audience will eat cakes blindly just by virtue of more content. And i will not fall for that bullshit.
>>
>>153724144
i like this this basically can be resumed as GD is too good for their own, they need to scale down their reach.
