Why did they decide to end their dominance of animation and let random people on YouTube take over?
They used to have a monopoly on animation and if they still made shows (or even their streaming services) they would have kept it with their corporate backing, but they decided to no longer make shows outside reboots so online indie series took over their entire viewership
This is a good thing for animation they are dead. But it is surprising they decided to abandon their stranglehold

Everybody closing up shop at the same time does seem kinda weird. You'd think at least one of them would go "hmm looks like all my competitors are folding up shop if I can just hold out for a little longer I'll be the only game in town."

But the actual answer is they're all run by MBA dipshits who mostly imitate each other. Everyone else is abandoning your niche? Oh shit you better abandon it too and just leave it there for fucking anyone to come along to claim.
