Well it's not so much the association with them, because I've literally NEVER talked to ANYONE in real life about the Hellaverse shows... I'd rather have them know I'm a degen closet furfag.

It was always bad and you're finally out of your teenage edgy phase, the only good aspect about it was some of the music. The character designs are garish, the writing is highly inconsistent and frequently relies on retcons, the setting is nonsensical, it's just not good.

The issue is we're 2 seasons in and you can go to the wiki, cut Blitzo's entirely personality section. Replace it with "He has borderline personality disorder". And you'd still have largely summed up his entire fucking character.

Angst is great at providing the illusion of depth. The vast majority of how it "develops" the characters is providing flashbacks designed to further solidify how they're actually "really sad victims a-bloo-bloo".

The fact that everything is a daddy issue is a separate problem with the writing.
We've all gone over the fact that Vivzie clearly has her own as seen by how it's "flawed and distant but trying and secretly actually really loves his daughter UwU" contrasted to "irredeemable piece of shit."

Using the latter to absolve the flaws of
the former.
Which is sort of the big problem with how she writes in general.

Whenever Blitzo or Stolas fuck up too bad, the shows immediate move is to suddenly pivot towards whatever it can do to soften that particular blow. A flashback here, a character saying "Actually you're a good person" there.

Stella acts comically evil because a regular dysfunctional marriage would leave Stolas too accountable on being a shit dad. Make Octavia an idiot so she doesn't actually call out his real fuckups.
