The entire site is less active than it used to be.

Anyways I’d add that It’s helpful to reply to the posts with comics that you plan check out due to the page

That page is from issue #14, of their 1999 run.

Those guys the authority is fighting are basically a parody of the avengers.
UN-fun fact: a few pages after this scene The flying sun guy gets raped by the captain america parody
yeah, The authority books are some wild stuff. a lot of random edgyness.
A bunch of the female teammates also get raped. Two gets brainwashed and raped in a different arc. On a different occasion the engineer, gets molested in her youth by a timetraveling villain they are fighting

From the same authority run, but in issue #16

>>153729036
this run at least strikes me as a pizza cutter. all edge, no point.
it's still kinda funny and entertaining.

and its implied apollo shoves the ball & chain of the thor parody up the faux god of thunder's ass

Why do they fall back to rape whenever it comes to 'serious' depictions of superheroes? Like whenever some comic author wants to make his own superhero team and wants to make sure you know they aren't your grandma's superheroes they have to go into detail as how in their off time they have spandex clad orgies and bumfuck each other and how everyone at some point or another has gotten, is currently being, or will be raped in this universe or a parallel one.

I'd say The thing about the many rape scenes in the authority is that it's cheap edgyness. There's never any further consequence for this shit as far as I'm aware or any dwelling upon the significance of characters getting raped.
There's a reason I call it all edge and no point.

Even something like the comic version of the boys, which was notorious for it's edgyness put more thought into this. It was edgy as hell (and probably not always that well executed) but there was a point and the stuff had after effects.
When characters got raped, it affected the plot, it wasn't just cheap edge you could cut out and leave the story the same.

It's just easy and cheap and a quick way to pretend to be an adult. The tragic irony is that most of these MATURE comics are only mature in a way that an immature person would think is so.

Let's not forget that one of the female member's corpse is dressed up as a nurse and fucked by a villain

It's peak Millar.
>>
>>153729406
huh, i'm not sure if i read that issue. or maybe i forgot it.
>>
>>153729460
They actually changed it in the original issue but the recent omnibus has the uncensored version restored. Along with many other examples. The original art was available online for ages tho.

Funnily enough, Millar actually quit the book and DC as a whole over the changes.

The top one is from a series called Rocketo by Frank Espinosa
>>
>>153730586
Probably to scare humans, later he hides them in a cop hat
>>
>>153729574
i know they did strange stuff like censoring the engineer giving the hulk parody the middle finger as he died
>>
>>153731763
Yeah, even the panel
>>153728848 where Apollo blows Not-Giant Man's brains was somewhat blurred. (This one is from the restored version obviously).

They just couldn't put a Mature Readers Only tag on the covers for some reason and decided to do stupid edits to the already completed art.

Though I do have to say that the red tinged panel for the death of the characters is kinda cool looking.
>>
>>153728848
>>153731895
Hmm, it also looks in the original published version they removed the shield of the captain america parody. and changed the color of some of the blood.

Also, he did write a few pages of an X-Men special after this.

You mean "the original writer"?
>>
>>153736158
He was going to come back to Marvel in the 2000s, probably after being forced to work for DC again.
Brevoort wanted him to write a Fantastic Four run or limited series, Moore wasn't interested and wanted to write Ant-Man instead, but Brevoort said it wouldn't sell, so nothing ended up happening
