Preferably not in the middle of an event, someting a new reader will understand coming in.First up is Ghost Rider #7
>>153728006The artwork in this issue really shines. Tex's inking provides Ghost Rider such an ominous aura with how dark all the shadows are. I believe this is also the first issue to have all of the gutter spaces black, providing no escape. It must have been very expensive.

>>153728118So for context Danny and his sister were out on Halloween night when they witness some criminal dealings. Dan's sister Barb is shot with a crossbow. While fleeing into a junkyard Dan's hands covered in Barbs blood make a motorcycle's gascap glow and transform him into the Ghost Rider. Barb has been in a coma ever since.

Bump, I have something. Will post when I get more free time
>>153728006Bump, can't contribute right now sorry
>>153730067>I'm a simple manYou're a good man. This issue is splendid.
>>153728006This particular ongoing is almost impossible to share without an issue directly tying into a mini-arc. There are very few one-off issues in the entire thing, and most of them are built on their abnormality for the series (eg exceptionally grounded, done by guest writers, or both). This issue is not the best story from this ongoing. It's also arguably in the middle of an arc, and begins another. But it's relatively self-contained, and about as close as I can get to sharing an issue I love that isn't heavily tied to one ongoing story or another, so I'm going to post it.
>>153733154Practically everything you need to know in this plot is explained outright, so I won't give much commentary (save for one page that you'll see later).
>>153733178(Victoria Bentley is just a very old friend of Strange's. She first showed up in Strange Tales, predating Strange's primary love interest.)

>>153733357This is the page I was talking about earlier. It's the greatest link this story has to any other part of the ongoing. This issue takes place in the build-up to Into the Dark Dimension-- a story arc in which Strange invades another dimension with his lover (and former disciple), Clea, whose ruler-- Umar, Clea's mother-- has overtaken and ruled with an iron fist. This arc was initially led by Clea, who departed to that dimension to take Umar on herself about 13 issues ago, which mistakenly led Umar to think that Strange was involved. (He wasn't, initially.) This page is showcasing Umar's mistaken assumption that Strange is the one leading Clea's rebellion, and what she's doing as retaliation. This (mostly random) retaliation is what eventually drags Strange into that whole war, but that's a story for another time that I've already elaborated on plenty. All you need to know for this issue is that this page mostly serves as a reminder of upcoming threats, as well as a convenient diabolus ex machina to give the Black Knight any chance in hell against the Sorcerer Supreme.

>>153733453This page is one of the reasons I decided to post this issue. It's a great demonstration of Paul Smith's clean and beautiful artwork in a very chaotic and colorful setting. Almost every single issue in this ongoing has something similarly gorgeous to its name, but I can't post most pages like this one because they're tied into some greater story that demands a full storytime. I'm very glad this exists so that I can show off something great without needing to give a few paragraphs of backstory first. :)

I feel like we got into JJ's head a lot of times and it isn't always consistent. I do like this though. JJ's made up a lot of BS but he's always owned up to it. Whether it was his conscious or not is a different story but I do like to think it was.
Hey op I read like the first 12 issues and I'd like to read more but I heard eventually it starts crossing over with like 5-6 other titles? Do you have a reading guide?
Here's a letter page. Because why not.
>>153739748Sure. This isn't going to be a comprehensive list of every crossover, but it should cover the main story beats.Starting with Ghost Rider #12 there is a crossover than concludes the story in Dr. Strange #28.Ghost Rider #27 has a crossover with X-Men and that story is concluded in X-Men #9.Starting in Ghost Rider #28 is the Rise of the Midnight Sons storyline, setting up Ghost Rider as the focal point of a team. The story crosses over into the #1 issues of Ghost Rider/Blaze: Spirits of Vengeance, Morbius the Living Vampire, Darkhold: Pages from the Book of Sins, and Nightstalkers before ending in Ghost Rider #31. Spirits of Vengeance is the only side series that's essential to the main story, the other team member's books are only important for 2 more team events. There is a crossover story within Spirits of Vengeance called Spirits of Venom. Web of Spiderman #95, SOV #5, Web#96, and SOV #6.Next up is Midnight Massacre. Starts in Nightstalkers #10, then Ghost Rider #40, Darkhold #11, Morbius #12, and Spirits of Vengeance #13.Finally Siege of Darkness. This is Nightstalkers #14, GR #44, Marvel Presents #143, Darkhold #15, Morbius #16, MP #144, Dr. Strange, Sorcerer Supreme #60, SOV #17, Nightstalkers #15, GR #45, MP #145, Darkhold #16, Morbius #17, MP#146, DS:SS #61, SOV #18, and Midnight Sons Unlimited #4. After this all other Midnight Sons books get canceled so it's just mainline GR from there on out.
The simple context to this is there was a big Defenders event and Spider-Man was also thereAnd after it was over Spider-Man and Gargoyle decided each other was cool and went to hang out a little longer
