From the perspective of someone who actually works in indie animation, I really appreciate the things that they're doing. I'm not the biggest fan of every Glitch production, but they are creating pathways forward for other indies. Sure, every indie group or production won't be as big as TADC (hell, even other Glitch productions won't be that big), but they've popularized a repeatable model for success that is changing the way a lot of indies are thinking about how to finance projects and their popularization of indie animation has opened up the scene to a much wider audience. There are a lot of people who had no idea that independent animation was even being created before seeing TADC, but are now actively looking for things that are being made by non-Glitch groups and supporting those productions. I think the tardies that hate them on /co/ seem to have the biggest grievance with the fact that they're popular, but I think that same popularity is a net win for indie animation in general. The main drawback I see is that people now think that anything that does less than TADC numbers is a resounding failure, but that's an opinion I've mostly seen held on /co/. In other words...this time around the normies aren't the problem.
