>>153733034Is it just me or are VAs like this becoming a dying breed?
Fill disclosure: I never thought that Kane had the vocal range that other VAs had, and I thought it was incredibly lazy to have him voice both Gordon and Sharp in Arkham Asylum (But that's not his fault). However, he was a solid performer, and did great with the voice he was given. RIP.

I like to think I leave every life I touch a little better than it was before. It's just a shame that that was never as big as I expected it to be.>>153738167I mean if we're talking 70s-90s shounen dubs, I'm with them. The problem is modern dubs have hypercorrected, they're overly dull, overly sanitized, and WAY overly word-for-word literal even when that makes no sense in english.
>>153738196range is probably the most varying thing in an actor's toolbelt. It's like dick size, what matters most is how you use it... but 'large' is still more impressive, yeah.Look at my man Clanky Brown, he can only do one voice, but he does a million dialects and tones and moods, and it works.

>>153738348so likemost anime dubs would just kinda try to make things american, rightbut some of them, the cool ones, FLCL etc, would leave in -chan, -san, -kun, etc.. because it's not something that translates, and weebs like itbut then normies (who like, PAY for crunchyroll and WANT it to censor things) were like REEE WEEBS FUCK YOU so now the standard is you have characters calling out "Big Brother Takuya! Me and Big Sister Keiko need to talk to you!" or fuckin- students calling each other mr. and miss. It sounds fucking unnatural.
>>153738352seriously. As if all the other health shit wasnt bad enough, we've gotten SO GOOD at keeping people alive, that you're far more likely to end up in a 'not quite dead' situation where you'd rather be dead. Hell is here. we're in it. I'm not sure we ever left. I'm a massive stroke risk and all I did was take heartburn pills for 2 weeks. decade and a half later, body still ruined.
It's sad that the last time he voiced the Professor was for that shitty PPG 2016 reboot

>>153738608iirc they got back the cast that played the adult characters (Tom Kenny was back as the Mayor and the Narrator too) but they recasted all the child characters for some reason. I still don't understand that decision.
>>153733034F to a legend.
>>153737706There's money to be made, yes. More illustrations per page = more money in your wallet. Coloring is extra. I'm usually fair with prices. The wife and I work on children storybooks from independent authors and publishers in the through connections some of them being here in Georgia state, then they're up for sell on Amazon. Outside from Scholastic, I haven't really worked for other big publishers. As for the Flash thing, by that I meant that it feels like I'm the only one rocking with the old "busted" version of the software. The quotations are doing heavy lifting because old Flash is actually more stable than newer and actual busted versions from my experience. If the Homestar Runner guys still use the old version of Flash then that's radical as hell. Glad to see old things never change.
>>153738608Him was in the reboot. Him and Mojo Jojo were the only classic villains I remember the reboot using, I'm pretty sure most of the other ones were relegated to cameos at best.

>>153734153He probably knew he was going to die soon when that reunion happened. That was less than 2 months ago, and it was the only public appearance he made after his stroke 6 years .
>>153741375Be nice.
>>153738120But enough about millenial shitters.
>>153738620Because the people who worked on the reboot thought they were too old.

>>153733291>>153733077>>153733066The meta is Below 50 genuinely young and everyone assumes rare disease or accident.Between 50~65 old but healthy range people are shocked if someone dies from something that isn't rare.66~85 old and you assume people can die but it's still shocking if it's sudden85+ except for the very healthy people you don't get too shocked someone dies
>>153741753People consistently live to their mid 80s now
Did they share the cause of death
>>153742130Complications from a stroke he had a few years ago
>>153742137At least it wasnt cancer I guess
>>153742053I'm going to require proof backing this.Even at this day and age...
Craig posted this
>>153742201Anon the average life expectancy is 76 for men and 81 for womenYou're shocked people are living to 84 or 85?
>>153742291Based Craig, bless him.
>>153738332And I totally agree with that... It just particularly bugged me in Arkham Asylum where they had him playing two characters that were introduced just a couple minutes apart, and then voicing the "Spirit Of Amadeus Arkham" logs, which completely ruined the mystery of who the character actually was because Kane's voice was so distinctive.
>>153738476I had a stroke a couple years ago at 37, but I was extremely lucky. All it took from me was a very, very small patch in the upper right of my vision that I can no longer see. The doctors said it also hit my balance center, but I haven't felt any effects. Most people with strokes get off monumentally worse.
Yesterday, I was browsing Tom Kane's imdb in appreciation for his voice, after recognizing him playing a character in Ben 10 (using the same voice he uses in Clone Wars), then finding out all the stuff he was actually in. Good range.. Sparked a lot of joy.
>>153740914and a second RIP. definitely one of the favorite voices of my childhood.
>>153733077anon, you haven't been living your life expecting to die in your 60's, have you? that's not normal
>>153740914>>153742291This as well. Imagine the timeline where Corey Burton was the voice of Utonium
>>153740914what a mensch.>>153740928you either didn't watch anime on VHS back then and/or didn't read my post>most VAs lack talentthis is another issue for sure. But I think a bigger issue is they lack any flair or style, and i assume that's the directors' doing. I miss old canadian dub voices who went way out and crazy when appropriate for a character.
>>153741101hnnngg.. my heart. That's gonna be me unless the girl I made in a lab- I mean adopted, ends up croaking first, which she might. I kinda 'rescued her from a puppy mill' so to speak. Not the highest health rating.>>153741414yeah I see zero reason to do another PPG. among other things, Craig just isn't very good at it. he needs Genndy to balance him out. though if Faust's involved, that'll help.we really are kinda running out of classic announcer voice guys. I mean, I could do it, but I can't do the falsetto for Him anymore. Fuckin broken voice.>>153741416wasnt he unable to speak?
>>153742435Bizarre to imagine an alternate universe where Clancy Brown voiced Utonium.
>>153742435He might get to be again
>>153742524I could definitely hear John o'Hearly in there. Wouldn't have been the same, but he's got the basic area.Berger could probably do it too. Man people overlook him a lot.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2HdTu3SMxEhis crazed inflection was top notch. definitely THE magneto, that's the voice I always hear.
Fuck...
Him was genuinely disturbing and Professor Utonium always sounded warm and loving. The guy did amazing work>>153741853It's crazy how much of the original cast they got to show up for that. They even had George Lucas voice himself.
>>153742542oh wow, his Yoda is excellent.Did they even ask Frank though? I bet he would have done it. Also yeah, that was a great magneto. personally I like my magneto a little.. well I dunno, I grew up on the 90s one so that's what sticks in my head. but still. You would think just once they'd give him the Polish accent.
>>153737309>Faggot interviewer deciding he needs to damage control the truthChrist, what an arsehole.
>>153742657>did they ask the director guy who would cost so much more money than getting a voice actorno they didnt
>>153733034RIP LEGEND.
Dude seriously what's up with 2026/co/ is just taking loss after loss for months straight nowIs this the end of an era
>>153742844they didn't even ask! how many lines would he have? you think he'd really charge that much?actually how big a part of that show was yodaanyway he said he didn't quit sesame street, they just stopped calling him. He loves his characters.

>>153743098It's always bad man. I been seeing my childhood die for over 2 decades. At least Alphas mostly have internet culture to grow attachments that last a week of tiktok fads.
This guy had a permanent voice role in all my favorite Star Wars games when I was a kid. I can't believe he's gone.
>>153743098Consider.PONDER THIS.One day, Michael Kovach will be among the new veterans of the industry standing.
