We've seen>Superman but evil (Homelander, Plutonian, Brightburn)>Superman but evil, but he gets a redemption arc (Omniman)>Superman but misguided, not completely evil (Red Son Superman, Hyperion)>Superman but he has mental health issues (Sentry)>Superman but he's a selfish dick, but not a complete monster (Metroman, Major Glory)>Superman but he loses his connection to humanity (Dr Manhattan)>Superman but he's dying and passing the torch to the next generation (All-Might, Utopian)>Superman but gay, black or both. (Silver Sentry, Apollo, Icon)How else can you twist/subvert/change the Superman archetype? What's a twist on a Superman expy that we haven't seen a comic book, Cartoon, or movie about yet? Or has literally everything that can be done differently with the archetype already been done?
>>153734621Great Sayiaman is a sentai parody tho
>>153734621Superman but he just lives a normal life and doesn’t use his powers aside from mundane shit like using his super strength to lift the couch while vacuuming or using his heat vision to reheat his coffee.
>>153734621>Superman ExpyThese are all Heracles rip-offs.
>>153734716That's not a very entertaining story to write though.

>>153734753Nasu, please.
>>153734716>>153734734So Metro Man?
>>153734814There's a reason the story is about his archnemesis Megamind and not Metro Man the Superman-expy himself.
>>153734621Peter Griffin as Superman https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqEL0duWzfA(not to be confused with Captain Hero)
>>153734871>Peter Griffin as SupermanDisturbing.
>>153734621Alan Moore essentially wrote multiple variations on Superman.Captain Britain was a flying brick powered by his country.Miracleman was Marvelman, an expy of Captain Marvel, who was an expy of Superman.Swamp Thing was linked to world's lifeforce and was fueled by the sun. Also bedded with a human woman. Doctor Manhattan was already mentioned.Supreme was used as a commentary on Silver Age Superman through the then present Superman.Tom Strong was the pulp ubermensch with his own shield emblem, and Tom Strange, a revamp of Doc Strange, was a Superman expy, along with some of the other revamped Nedor Comics characters.

>>153735463That sounds like a combination of elements from All-Star Superman #5 and Superman: Secret Identity.

>>153734621One day I’m going to actually draw out my comic of my Superman expy where I took my Superman fan fiction, filed off the serial number, and fit it into a story I made to deal with life trauma. It’s basically Superman but without the moral paragons of Ma and Pa Kent, Uncle Ben and Aunt May, or the Waynes. His parents are normal, dysfunctional human beings who didn’t do the best job raising the guy and were fairly negligent. He’s still a good guy but he’s got the same neuroses and anxieties that anyone who grew up in that situation would have. The whole thing’s about identity and bad parenting. It’s too personal a story to let anyone else draw it but I’m also really lazy so who knows if I’ll ever actually do it
>>153735360That could be a commentary on our current issues as western societies.

>>153734621Unironically the best way to do a Superman expy is just play Superman straight but put him in fuck awful situations where he may bend but never break. Basically Superman but instead of Metropolis it's Hub City
>>153735137TMNTs Superman is underrated
>>153737475So put him through the Japanese Spider-Man ordeal?
>>153736655which is why it’ll never happen
>>153736650I have a similar idea for a story.
>>153734621Revert to the radio/George Reeves version where he was a hardnosed reporter 95% of the time and Superman just showed up to beat the shit out of the crooks he crossed paths with. It was like Superman existed purely to keep Clark Kent from dealing with assault charges.
>>153736650That reminds me how badly I want to revisit golden age Superman. The version that was raised in an orphanage specifically, as for the last decade I've built up this story in my head about him. He'd be a colder Superman on average, sort of like a metahuman take on Charles Bronson's character from Hard Times. Captain Marvel would have established himself before Superman in this story, and it'd lead to a widespread mistrust of this dreadful vagrant vigilante "Superman". He would eventually win the public overtime, but it would be arduous, and it'd culminate in an alliance with Hugo Danner against a cult of genocidal metahumans led by John Wayneright.
>>153737514NTA but I'd read the hell out of that>>153738499 Over 2023/2024 I tinkered with the idea of Jor-El arriving on Earth after saving his family from the blast. Unfortunately the life support systems in the ship failed to save the still pregnant Lara, so she died on the journey. Wracked by grief, Jor ventures the United States as a wandering drifter before becoming a private investigator in Detroit. This would have then led into Punisher-esque take downs of local mobs along with more bombastic tales of dinosaur people invading the Earth's surface from below. Unfortunately the pages I completely were met with zero fanfare so I abandoned the project
>>153739167Bring it on, your competition is an ocean of shit
>>153739192Fuck it, might aswell.Excuse the shit coloring, I'm still an amateur.
The last two pages I never bothered to letter. I can dig up the script if anyone's interested but I already explained the gist above. At the time I thought this suit design was cool, and it intentionally aped some older toku shit, but now I sort of regret it.
>>153739167>NTA but I'd read the hell out of thatMan, I don't think even Clark could take that punishment. That wasn't even Japanese Peter's fault for being weak or anything. It was just everyone around him being so fucked up helping didn't change anything or was the opposite of what they wanted. For once, Clark would really have a problem he couldn't fix that wasn't just health failing someone.
>>153739620Good point, ultimately that is the appeal of mind tigers spidey. Despite such great power, he cant save anyone. I wish Marvel had localized the rest of the run. Ending it where they did was painful to say the least, but then again the entirety of Suffering Man is painful. It's practically the Spiderman equivalent to Gladiator.
>>153734814That’s just retired Superman >>153735684Deadbeat Superman>>153736569Past his prime SupermanNone fit what I had in mind. He wouldn’t do anything heroic or at least super heroic but just live the day to day. Think a slice of life.
>>153734621My favorite is Jon Farmer, who is Superman but sent to a lower frequency of reality to save his higher dimension, only he got hijacked by even higher dimensional beings channelling God to become a pastor and guide for their multiversal cancer fighters (who are also the kernel for the group Jon originally belonged with and was trying to save).
>>153739498>>153739529>>153739558>>153739609>>153739637Really cool anon! Getting a big retro anime/tokusatsu vibe from this though that’s evidently coincidental? Still really neat!

>>153734621Bizarro but Good.
>>153740979>and not some human-adjacent sortHow are Viltrumites not human-adjacent? Humans and Viltrumites are basically identical in appearance. I'm thinking more like some sort of insectoid, maybe the closest equivalent being TMNTs>the mind of a hero in the body of a monster
>>153741041They act like aliens instead of humans?until they get to earth at leastfucking cuckman
Superman but he's a vaccine that goes into computers it cyberspace and fights viruses or some shit. Wait fuck does Neo count at the end of the Matrix 1 when he was flying?
>>153740935>>Superman, but he's actually an alien and not some human-adjacent sortThat was a DBS meme that was spammed to dead here. I remember how mad some people got with the "Jiren is Superman if Superman was an alien"
>>153737475>Superman straight but put him in fuck awful situations where he may bend but never breakI really liked the Alex Ross story where Superman tries to solve world hunger on his own and it doesnt work out so well. Not even because of a villain just that's how it'd probabaly go.
>>153741130
>>153734753>Goku is himself a ripoff of the Superman archetype. No, not until the late namek saga can you even claim this and even then it's because of a dubism. Pretty much the whole of pre Z dragon ball he is a monkey king expy, in Z Toriyama does the last of his kind retcon but Goku doesn't act heroic enough to warrant the comparison. It's only in Namek Goku is so powerful you get Superman vibes if you squint and I am convinced if the hope of the universe dub never happened the comparisons would never be made
>>153741228>hope of the universe dub never happenedTbf, even if you ignore the stupid American dub, the movies, the games and many side material want you to see Goku as a superhero. Why do you think latinos think on Goku as a hero even better than Superman? It wasn't because of the burger dub, it was because of the movies, the games games and the anime itself selling the idea of heroic Goku. Just listing to the song of this game, it's more inspiring than any superman song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUJZdWZmQnY
>>153741432>Just listing to the song of this game, it's more inspiring than any superman songYou cant say that when the 70s theme is so good
My idea for a Superman analogue for my own capeshit universe has a bit of Captain Marvel mixed into him.Mainly the aspect of him being dreamed into reality by a couple of kids, they kinda just make him.
>>153741488Donner Superman has an amazing theme but it has no lyrics. The DB song tells kids they can be superheroes of they try. It's nice and I wish western cartoons/games/movies could do the same.
>>153734621Superman but he's surreal
>>153735642This is a fun idea, I like it.
>>153734621Superman but racist>Pa Kent always told Clark not to go to the bad parts of Smallville. Those are where the 'hoods' are, he would say. He would point them out when they drove around the edges of those neighborhoods on errands: shabbily dressed black men with bloodshot eyes, loitering on street corners, seemingly doing absolutely nothing all day. Dangerous, Pa said. But as he got older, Clark got stronger, and one day he paid a visit to that neighborhood, to see if was really as bad as Pa said.>He put nine men in the hospital that day. Nine men attacked a single unarmed boy that had given no offence. Not a one of them cooperated with the police, and it was assumed that they had fought each other. He visited more often in his year before college, never picking a fight, yet always sending hoods to the hospital. The stories got around, growing in the telling, of white men cruising through the projects, beating on blacks. In response, the residents were even more aggressive to whites, becoming outright no-go zones, far worse than before.>Good, Clark thought. Accelerate.
>>153741605>It's nice and I wish western cartoons/games/movies could do the sameWhat if superman but he was a musical? Or pop star? Or a Japanese idol group? Etc
>>153735642Every issue ends with him seething at himself like a fucking wojak
>>153740304Yeah the toku inspired suit doesnt have any real impact on the plots, I just thought it'd be a neat departure from the norm. The costume would vanish into and out of some super sciency belt buckle made from Jor-el's onboard navigation computer. Anyways I'm glad you liked it. (You) are the first person to give me any kind of reception.
Superman but he is raised by a scientology like church who convinces him that he is a god and to use his powers for good while expanding the church. Basically like TV homelander but not evil because he was raised by a corporation.
Superman but he is a toon cowgirl with a Damian Wayne-like cat son who think they should take over the human world.
Superman but he's an SCP horror anomaly
>>153739637That's actually pretty cool.
