A dynamic where Venom's now buried its hurt about Peter, while helping MJ realize her latent feelings for him still exist, would have been interesting. Or especially trying to lean into the short bond Peter had during Venom War, and how Peter still intensely feels for her. They didn't do enough of that.Not everything needs to be about Peter, but addressing their past and learning to move forward as two different beings who have evolved would have been strong storytelling.

You used to be able to have an entire civilian story and an entire superhero story in a single issue alongside each other. Now you need 12 issues, an entire year, just to tell one super story.The only way characters like MJ get any page time nowadays is if they're suped up and then get their own on going. Not doing that would just mean she's nothing at all any more.
