Not talking a mindblowing generational conclusion talked about for decades, or even a divisive or lame one, but one that just didn't piss off a majority of people and made them feel like their time was wasted with a bad taste in their mouths. An "open-ended" ending where they can always go back and expand on it, that ends up just coming off as lazy because nothing actually happens. Loose ends, plot holes, relationship confirmations/conclusions - creators just seem fine letting them go unresolved forever.The first thing they teach you in writing is to have a beginning, middle, and end. And people are desperate to have or just stumble into a beginning, that they focus on the middle in perpetuity, but never really have an ending.I mean, the setting of the show is a crazy computer simulation where normal people are trapped as wacky characters right? And you're telling me they just ... don't escape or we don't see who they are outside of it? Ok I’ve got some thoughts on the leaked portions of the finale. On Jax’s offscreen abstraction, I think this is intentional as it’s probably supposed to invoke the same kind of feeling someone has when someone in the real world kills themselves. One day they’re there interacting with you, and the next day they’re gone, leaving you filled with questions about what was going on in their head that made them do this, and if you could’ve done anything to change their mind to save them. I think this is what Pomni seems to be going through, and from the audience’s perspective it isn’t like it comes out of nowhere either. We’ve known since Episode 6 and especially 7 that Jax has been suicidal, and I think this episode is finally going to delve into why that is. What ticks me off the most is that after the scenes of "we can't have you abstracting by yourself", "we're in this together", and also having already showed him nearly abstracting, he just goes and does it anyway, off screen, they just let him do it anyways.
