>Disney’s always been good at keeping Mickey Mouse front and center with the young generation, that is why they have their preschool show and those different tiers of Mickey shows. Warner Brothers didn’t do that with Looney Tunes. And I think it’s been a mistake because, in my opinion, the Looney Tunes are much better characters.
>>153770404He's not making any argument for why Looney Tunes for preschool kids would be good. He assumes it will be good because it worked for an unrelated thing, and therefore it should be made. One could use this "argument" for anything. Not every property is amenable to being remade for all age brackets. Also, people who think this tend not to know what kids like. Young kids have watched the original Looney Tunes for decades, until parents suddenly decided it was too edgy for them.
>he doesn't know
>>153770404Two things1. Mickey has a huge handicap - the mascot of the theme parks which is a fandom of its own. They could release zero new media of Mickey ever again and he still would have an audience and selling shit with him all over it. Looney Tunes will never get any boost to that scale (Six Flags is not the same) so they have to keep giving them content to prevent the IP dying 2. The preschool shows absolutely decimated the image of Mickey & friends and prevents them being as followed at later ages, you do not want your characters to follow what they did. Looney Tunes draw is being the more mature alternative to Mickey
>>153770404They've tried two Looney Tunes pre-school shows and both went nowhere. like >>153770601said, the average viewer know what they want from an LT production, and stuff like Baby LT or Bugs Bunny Builders doesn't do it.

>>153770404>indoctrination mouse exposes himself to children>I think better characters should also do thisAre you sure they're not better because they don't do that?I don't think Looney is built for the modern age of zero skill storyboarders, playing chinese whispers with foreign animation studios, and a lack of humanity. The last one being the most important because:>you can't have bugs kiss a man unless it's a serious relationship>you can't have guns because they're evil>you can't have workman's tools, instead use middle class tourist toys>you can't have common songs, no-one even remembers the last pop song they listened to>you can't have physicality, imagine touching another human being, I'd have to ask consent to fill out a form!>you can't have jokes, that implies I have a sense of humor that isn't referencing popscience factoids and terraria wiki edits

>>153770404>in my opinion, the Looney Tunes are much better characters. My hot take is that is what holds the Looney Tunes back, thier characters are too defined and have been so for almost half a century. This results in two paths when handling the LTs, either you deviate from what was established and make something that's "not" Looney Tunes, like the Looney Tunes Show or Loonatics, or you make Looney Tunes and re-heat jokes from almost a century ago, which is what the New Looney Tunes shorts did.Mickey and friends really benefits from being be handled more like an animated actors, blank slates that have more wiggle room for a larger diversity of stories, in contrast to Bugs and the rest of the LTs, who are very specific and can only really tell very specific stories. The Looney Tunes wouldn't be able to pull off a simple but earnest story like picrel and then later snap to something more slapstick, like the Ruddish shorts and its because they are not as flexible as Mickey.

These were the shitbags who worked on the Looney Tunes reboot.

An argument in bad faith?I can't imagine nu-Looney inventing a challenge for femininity where Lola crossdresses and kisses other girl characters.
>>153779862>LolaThe faggots were too afraid to use her.
>>153770404The thing that rescues Mickey is being a bland mascot incarnate as his default. As such from mascot he can try other reimaginings. Looney Tunes on the other hand are more cemented in their characterizations to the point its rarely a good idea to change the characters for any reason. The most famous example being Daffy who went from being crazy to being a greedy coward saboteur during the Golden Era. And then afterward around the time of Duck Dodgers he became outright stupid. And it wasn't until his recent movie that Daffy returned to being crazy again. And frankly its better to be cemented but entertaining. Mickey Mouse is legit boring as dirt. Donald and Goofy are better but they're not beating Looney Tunes in being hilarious. What I will give Donald and Goofy is that they got more heart so I can care about them when drama happens while on the other hand I can't take drama with Looney Tunes seriously at all whatsoever because these characters are too wacky.Mickey on the other hand will eternally be bland trite and don't say the Rudish shorts, those came and went making no impact in Mickey's history. Dare I say it, the Sega illusion games for Mickey have left their mark. The biggest thing Mickey Mouse has ever done is help inspire Sonic the Hedgehog.
>>153770404The Looney Tunes cast aren't "much better characters," but they are more versatile and have always carried more of an edge than their relatively safer competitors. I like that Browngardt didn't feel pressured to make Bugs the focus of EVERY LTC short.
>Warner Brothers didn’t do that with Looney Tunes. With the exception of 2008-10, Warner Bros. has had a Looney Tunes TV show on the air every year since 1995. What more are they supposed to do?
