I'm tired of all this animated garbage, indie or otherwise, disappointing me time and time again.
What does it take to make a good animation? I'm not looking to be rich or popular. I just wanna make things I'd wanna watch instead of having blatant propaganda being my only options for cartoon entertainment.

I'm asking in the right place, right? You guys know how to make animations, right?
>>
>>153789343
First rule: make it cool
>>
>>153789425
Cool is subjective. Could you be more specific?
>>
>>153789343
What are you asking for?
>>
>>153789457
Advice that I can't get just by asking an LLM.
>>
>>153789433
not hot. man's not hot. in the sauna n man's still not hot
>>
>>153789343
>I just wanna make things I'd wanna watch
So make them, duh
I hope you have more interests than just watching animations and playing video games
All these new cartoons are complete ass because they are made by people with no unique life experience
>>
Catchy action packed theme song. Factory quality gouache backgrounds that aren't trying to be anything else. Funny voices.
>>
>>153789616
>that aren't trying to be anything else.
How do they try to be anything else?
>>
>>153789343
Get a program you're comfortable with, then draw and edit the drawings or renderings together. Repeat as much as you want. Then put it on youtube or other media of choice
>>
>>153790130
I have Clip Studio. I've made drawings in it but never tried any sort of animation with it. Any opinions on it in regards to that? Or should I learn a different program?
>>
>>153790282
Clip studio's fine. Just draw a thing and animate it. It can be a crappy, doesn't matter, will be made better later
>>
>>153789343
Come up with a concept that sounds interesting. Think about all the things you like, all your interests. Why do you like them? Figure that out first, then come up with something made out of that list of things you like. Then come up with characters with a motivation and place them in a fun scenario that makes for a cool story. Also read story by Robert Mckee
>>
>>153789343
>You guys know how to make animations, right?
Barely. Best I could do is some Aqua Teen ripoff.
>>
>>153789343
Hot take: anything will seem like propaganda if you let your mind think it is
Also there's a lot of stuff in the indie side that you would enjoy more
>>
>>153792955
That's not a hot take, you're just wrong anon. Though yeah there are more indie shows out there
>>
Well /a/ is over there
>>
>>153792969
Nah, you're wrong too. But thats the point of a hot take: https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/hot-take

>a piece of writing or speech, especially on the internet, giving someone's personal opinions about a topic, usually strong opinions that have not been carefully thought about and that many people are likely to disagree with:

A hot take is not meant to be agreeable. I do think a lot of the /pol/-influenced on this site are too engrossed in the culture war to be able to enjoy anything. And again, indie stuff exists. Hell, the fact that Spider-man Lotus got made to me proves that people can get their mitts on if they really wanted to.
>>
>>153793017
Right, accept propaganda does actually exist, it's not an opinion so you're wrong.

If you say "1 + 1 = 3" you're not giving a radical opinion that only the /pol/ boogeyman disagrees with. But yeah indie stuff does exist
>>
>>153789343
Just use AI.

You don't want to get rich or popular, right? Just use AI. If you haven't started learning to draw yet, you most likely never will. So just use AI. If you're so worroed about woke propaganda, you can get an AI that will listen and do everything you tell it too. The current administration and many who are against woke are championing AI, so just use it. If anything, its the liberals, SJWs and DEI who are complaining about AI.

So just do it. Or don't. I don't give a fuck, really.
>>
>>153793057
I'm not denying that propaganda exists, what I am stating is that anything will seem like propaganda if you think it is. If you want me to be more fucking pedantic: SJW, DEI and whatever buzzwordslop term you have for "modetn media" will seem like propaganda if you cant just enjoy a fucking thing.
Lets take Invincible. Does the animated series have raceswaps and genderswaps? Yeah. But I can still enjoy it. Is the comic superior? Of course, especially at the start. But I can still go back to it if I wanted to. My point is that, despite egregious changes I might dislike with the series, its not "propaganda". Its just a gorely superhero series by a guy that actually likes superheroes, unlike a tryhard like Ennis. (Kirkman may also have a cuck fetish but thats none of my business)
>>
>>153789343
>Make show for kids that isn't for kids with cute marketable mascots but their haunted or creepy under the surface with pinch of lore bait.
>>
>>153793175
Most of that shit attracks woke, DEI, tranny, queer and diverse kids, which is not what OP wants
>>
>>153793141
Be as pedantic as you want you're still a retard. Who ever said that Invincible was propaganda in the first place?
>>
>>153793205
I was being ironic anon that's why I wrote it in green format and the fact that's what the algorithm prompt piss me off
>>
>>153793205
Well no one wants woke or DEIslop except the billionaires pushing it, though I doubt OP cares about the others

>You guys know how to make animations, right?

>What does it take to make good animation
Production studios well-funded by network TV ad revenue that no longer exists.
Artists trained at schools with teachers that know and can teach not just the digital tools but the basic fundamental skills a cartoonist needs (these no longer exist)
A media environment where the goal isn't to make as many of the cheapest products possible before seeing what sticks (which no longer exists)
Federal grants and subsidies to support productions that otherwise wouldn't be made as they wouldn't be expected to generate profit (these were cut)

Tl;dr the US killed any chance of good animation being made here.
>>
>>153793317
I can't believe I went to the effort of writing this before double checking the thread
You're just a faggot, OP. The vast majority of people don't agree with your politics and you allow that to ruin your enjoyment of media. Grow up
>>
>>153793317
Facts.
This is why >>153792975 is right. You can also try Europe - the French put out some amazing stuff like Wakfu

Just stop soulless execs, unfunny writers and tumblrinas from controlling the medium.
>>
>>153789343
Remember KISS. "Keep It Simple, Stupid." What's your priority? A minute-long short or an hour-long movie? What's your aim, quality or quantity? Visuals or writing? All of these are questions you have to figure out if you want to put something out there.

I'll repeat other anons' advice: just make shit. Steal what you love, study what you hate. Don't let perfect be the enemy of the good.
>>
>>153793706
This exact thing can be applied to video games right now too.
Entertainment as a whole is fucked.
>>
>>153789343
learn from the good examples
>heavy metal
>aeon flux
>anything genndy
>anything bakshi
>fantastic planet

>rock and rule
literally anything good animation that isn't for kids or comedy

>>153793732
You're both retarded.
For cartoons see >>153793317
Video Games suck because im the late 2000s and through the 2010s five big publishers staged hostile takeovers of every developer under the sun and then followed the Jack Welch GE model of "just keep gutting the company so number go up"
>>
>>153793781
My post isn't wrong though
Some shows literally treat the visuals of animation as a mere gimmick, partially because in a Disney dominated world, "animation is just for kids"
So to them the focus is either the shitty humor or "lore"
>>
>>153793062
>The current administration and many who are against woke are championing AI
Yeah, I'm sure tradniggers who post Ted Kaczynsky's hobo retard face like it's the biggest trvth nvke vf vll tvmv are completely unprone to getting sand in their neopussies over AI.

If you want to create corporate-approved animation, be my guest. But solo auteurs like Bill Plympton, Signe Baumane, Jim Lujan, and Don Hertzfeldt frequently disprove the notion that you need studio funding to make a film. The only thing stopping (you) from making something is laziness. Come home from work and start animating. It's cheaper than ever to produce a self-produced film and yet everybody bitches and moans.
>"b-but my art education!"
>"b-but my environment!"
>"b-but my federal grants!"
Shut the fuck up and pull yourself up by your bootstraps. Start writing, start drawing. Be the change you want to see in the world.

Just, like, do it
