Genuine thoughts on the whole thing, not from a theory or lore or even a writing perspective but from a more logistics/technical perspective.I don’t think glitch expected the show to get this popular in the first place. I don’t think goose did either. And seeing how fast they slammed on the gas with merch, quickly releasing new episodes and pushing wildly for the theater finale felt unsettlingly like the team behind it, particularly the marketing and accounting people, saw a cash cow developing in front of their eyes but weren’t actually considering what exactly the show was.TADC is great, I really enjoyed it and each episode was fun. It had some cute moments, got a little heavy at times, and the cast is enjoyable. But a masterpiece or exceptional gem of animation it is not, and I think this leak debacle is really going to shine a light on that. The disconnect between the fans’ reactions and expectations, the projected success banked upon by the production team, and the simple reality that the show was written quickly by a handful of internet dwelling cartoonists who probably never considered 90% of what the vocal theory crafting/shipping community was spewing out on twitter and tumblr at record speed.Of course the plot is going to be simple, even predictable. Of course the ending is going to feel unsatisfying and frustrating given how much was rapidly glazed over and which characters were given precedence. It was never meant to be a bulwark of indie shows, it was the massive success that foisted the ramping expectations upon the show that led to this moment. Hell, I think it’s weirdly poetic that it was leaked weeks before the premiere because can you imagine the shit show if it hadnt? The reactions are mixed as it is. But there's one thing I don't really understand about some more modern shows and movies.These writers seem to only want female characters to have some sort of level head, or "good heart". If there was another male figure that wasn't a complete goofball, or even if Kinger was slightly more father like and strict against Jax's bullshit, he could have gotten a better reality check earlier. The rest of the cast are harmed by his state just like Ragatha and Pomni the first episode but without Caine, they are unable to fix themselves. This drives them to despair and one or two of them start abstracting. They can't continue to live like this so the come to the decision to shut it all down, including themsleves. They hold hands, embrace, someone fullt abstracts right before they push the maguffin that ends everything. The we cut to the real world and see each of their living selves going on with their lives and it ends.

Jax deserved his fate. Caine got completely fucked by the writing in the last two episodes. Suddenly becomes evil then dies only to come back again and get forgiven. Such an awkward direction
I'll say one thing I liked about the finale. I liked the whole Ribbit flashback sequence. The hard cuts and POV were all very visceral, I really liked the long pauses to breathe during the conversation when he's opening up and the hard turn when he shuts back down, I think everything he said during that monologue was a very in-character backstory for him and explains everything about why he's this way, and the way he says it is subtle enough where it's clear his parents were crazy and abusive but he doesn't have enough distance to really understand it or describe it. His progressive breakdown also felt very natural.That whole sequence in isolation, I wouldn't change a thing. But I would change huge aspects of literally everything else lmao, I hated the big picture so much.
The real issue with the ending is that it was easily predicted halfway through the series.This was made by an idiot who thinks that by looking into extremely basic plot about le epic demiurge, they can be all deep and mysterious.>Everyone knew they were copies>Everyone knew there was no getting out of the circus>Everyone knew there was two AIs and one of them is le ebil>Everyone knew Jax was gonna die eventually>Everyone knew they were going to gain control over the circusAnd when you're not 14 anymore, you have all the references required to put all the pieces together really fast, to the point there is no single surprise for you to enjoy.So what are we left with? It doesn't have the shoulders for it. Nor will any glitch show ever. It's goyslop, and unless they hire some actual people with real ideas and a view of the world hat goes beyond basic biblical references, all of their productions are doomed to fail.
