Because if they show the actual supporting cast instead of them, Spiderman "fans" will discover him ,Spidergwen and others are boring characters.
The Spider-verse and all the associated characters are derivative of Peter at best and parasitic at worst, but it's only one side of a multi-faced issue with modern Spider-man and, more broadly, comics in general. I don't hate Miles as a character in isolation, he's a good guy, and theoretically I'm sure there's a way to write him where Peter doesn't have to be diminished to elevate him. Problem is the staff at Marvel have no interest in doing that and the fanbase that Miles has cultivated is more insecure and needy than Peter fans ever have been so they'll always be clamoring for a Miles who is louder, angrier, and has access to a time machine.
