So if they have access to the internet now, couldn't they make their own social media profile? The implications are insane. They could directly reach out to their IRL counterparts, prove through private knowledge in DMs that they are brain scans from that headset...I mean shit they could do some really fucked up shit to the real world. People would line up by the thousands to be scanned in and, obviously, the main crew and Caine would have control over whether or not to approve new entries. Of course, there's going to be people who will decide or headcanon that Jax is trans or will become trans if there's a continuation of the story, but keeping his queerness nebulous and dubious maintains the relatability that many of his fans might have with how they see him. Trans women, trans men, gay men, anyone that likes him as male or otherwise, or people that struggle with how femininity makes them feel, the movie shows a lot of aspects and avenues for the kind of Jax that can be interpreted or suspected, and not choosing or humoring a single one on their own can be a relief on the minds of many people invested in his character arc. Though, I suspect there will be a lot of fans frustrated with how his progress is by the end of the season.

They abstract because they can't process new emotions that the circus gives them to experience. They have a fight and give up, thinking they can't even be accepted in the small community they created after leaving home. Kinger being able to keep himself together is because he knows it's a computer program and he just goes with the flow. He doesn't see the abstracted as gone just a new shape. The rest can't reform into their shapes because they lost the ability to understand who they are and glitch out. The way everyone talks about Jax's abstraction though is very akin to dealing with a friends suicide, and wishing they could've been there to stop him. However, seeing Jax cry and admit that he wished he didn't do this to himself is messed up only if you've had someone kill themselves and you're imagining the opportunity to speak to them one last time before they committed the deed. If someone can still have a mind inside their abstracted body, and can feel regret for it, to the point that they want it undone, why can't they?
