IIRC Rowell eventually did some retconning with Molly's parents where originally it was implied that they were cousins or siblings or something like that to keep their mutie blood pure and untainted. But Rowell got rid of all of those implications and made them anime step-siblings or something. Because we didn't need the racist, eugenicist bad guys to be icky and incestuous too or something.

Issue 9>>154134487Eh, not really she wanted him and it was only her relationship with Alex (who she'd forced a kiss on like the day before so she's as guilty of assault) that made her feign like she didn't wan to but that immediately melted away.She'll forcefully kiss Chase in vol. 2 simply because he did something cool despite his own protests, relationship with Gert and the fact he actually did not want it unlike Nico with Topher here.
At least Karolina doing it as part of her anxiety over being gay and thus feeling like she's a freak so she's desperately doing anything to prove to herself that she's normal is more understandable.
Just to drive home how Buffy coded this serries is, a vampire.

>>154133363Yaaay runaways. They hold a special place in my heart. I grew up reading marvel and always hated that everything took place in NY. I was in college when I read this (digitally) I remember they were supposed to be getting a movie but it got delayed for iron man, and well think we all know what happened after that.
Not only do we have a vampire but the most painfully Whedon piece of dialogue in the entire series. It's so on point that it almost reads like Vaughan's trying to do a Buffy parody.
