After some long thoughtful consideration, I've come to the opinion that the entire gimmick and setting of story is basically irrelevant. Nothing about them being digital copies in a computer and caine being an ai played any real significance to whatever it was goose was trying to say. It's like goose just chose sci fi as medium at random and didn't think about how to use it. As far as the 6, the story could have been told in the real world and nothing would have been lost. In fact it would have been better cuz it would have had actual weight. As soon as it's revealed that they're not the people, the past lives of the real people cease being important to the digital characters, cuz they have nothing to do with the people. It hurts the story that the show doesn't explore the implications of these characters finding out they're sci fi clones. The revelation came too late in the series to flesh out the idea and it's just glossed over. Think about what could have been said if jax found out he was a clone earlier and how he would have to grapple with memory of something he didn't actually do. As for the real world, it doesn't help that the real people just solved their issues offscreen with no influence from the story at all.
