I’m surprised so many people are confused what TADC was about.It’s about growth and change and stagnation. The Circus is a perfect metaphor for it. It’s Jax. It looks like it’s different than anything you’ve seen before, but then you realize it’s just a bad, rearranged copy of everything that’s ever been. Jax acts like he wants to change, but he never actually does, stewing in his bitterness and blaming everything around him. He is a bad copy of all the worst things about himself, and it’s only until Pomni calls him to task, does he finally do something new. Something healing. Letting Pomni go. Something the Circus immediately punishes him for.And then, with Pomni, a character who also struggles to move past her familiar loops, she’s finally able to make genuine progress once she confronts her issue through Jax. She smashes the vestige of her past trauma, using it to save her from the manifestation of Jax’s own past loops of anger, fear, and bitterness. The capper is that C&A, the shadowy organization, has drunk the Kool-Aid ala Jax. They, like Jax, believe the Circus to be this brave new world, when really it’s just a regurgitation of everything that’s already been. A worse version of what already was.The AI metaphor also speaks for itself.Life is a long cycle of learning, forgetting, and relearning. You do your best to grow past your cycles. I'm trying to figure out why this happens:There's a specific kind of hyperautistic TADC watcher who views the show primarily through the characters as what each episode does with them (they should be theory love what Goose is doing then, but they're often fixated on characters sharing screentime and hate that Jax gets more than everyone else for instance). When these people made Youtube reviews for each episode, without fail, they'd spend the vast majority of the runtime talking about what each character does in the episode. But also without fail, none of these people ever talk about Caine. Somehow, someway, the people most obsessed with the characters in this show do not treat Caine as one of the characters and I just don't get it. It doesn't make any sense, as he's arguably the most important character in the show after Pomni and Jax.
