>>154232836Recently bought A Garden of Spheres >>154168188Good stuff.
Nancy For All Seasons and a Moebius artbook from some French publisher called Banzai
I opted out of getting Web of Spider-man volume 2. A lot of that material hasn't been collected before but It's also not, from memory, terribly exciting either. Not bad probably but certainly something I can live without.
>>154233779It's funny when I brought this to the counter to buy employee asked me "Are you sure?" XD
>>154233892Weird thing for a store trying to sell you something to ask but I kind of get it.
Did anyone vote in the recent DC Omni and Finest polls? I pushed for more Legion and Cass Cain stuff. The former of which did better than I would have guessed on both.
>>154232836
>>154234641nice pussy
>dead already
>>154235841they pushed back the main book I wanted. Brainiac Reborn.
Newest stuff. Mostly from a con this weekend.>>154232861Nice, been meaning to read that.

>>154232919>French Publisher>BanzaiHmmmm....
>>154237160Why dont you just post them in the thread?
DC announced a new Compact line for kids collecting the tie-in comics for Batman TAS, Superman TAS, Teen Titans, and Justice League Unlimited. They are going to be $7.99.
>>154238903That's pretty neat. I got the compendiums myself which were pretty good price wise but 8 bucks is a great way to target younger audiences.
>>154238903>>154239334Least obvious shills, lol.
>>154238903Are the comics for the Teen Titans cartoon any good? Never see anyone talk about them.
>>154234512No
DIE, BITCH, DIE!!!
>>154239386least obvious poor fag
>>154241902I have money, none of it for DC.
>>154242198You lost.
>>154232836New stuff, nothing too remarkable.>>1542371342001 Nights is really good
>>154242198Whomstever is your money for?
>>154242596>2001 Nights is really goodI thought it was hit or miss.
Some recent pickups. Skimming through WildStorm’s catalogue and didn’t realize Bachalo had drawn a series there, and I’d always meant to grab the Cadillacs and Dinosaurs comic. Super Friends because I was originally going to get it in DC Finest format, but managed to come across the hardcovers for about the same price. Love me some Ramona Fradon art!>>154238903Might actually pick some of these up for when my kid’s a little older. I’m a big fan of more simplistic artstyles, and DCs cartoon tie-ins are such a great showcase of just that.
Just these three right now, I'm trying save some money for an occasion next week.
>>154232836What needs to be added or removed in this OP text? Book depository doesnt exist anymore and that goodreads thread hasn't updated in 3 years.
>>154242596>Billy Bat is out in EnglishHot damn
Got pic related as well as the Requiem Vampire Knight Omni. Been loving the Milk & Cheese portion
They haven't got here yet but I got a good deal on both volumes of the Arnold Drake Doom Patrol DC Finest collections. Kinda cool having a full run of something that easily. Never read them before but looking forward to it.
>>154244352Nice
Could this be it? Could this be the final /shelf/ thread? Will we finally be free?
>>154246313There are a lot of comic threads, but it's mostly freeloaders complaining.
>>154246313My comic spending is pretty spread out.
>>154234512I wanted Amethyst and Secret Origins, only got one of those but I'm praying we one day get the latter.
>>154242596Do you have the DRCL midnight children hardcovers? I've been tempted to get those
>>154247662Not yet but I'll get around to those eventually, Sakamoto art is so nice
>>154247613Amethyst actually being fully available would be really nice
>>154246313/shelf/ committed suicide by not expanding comic book reader presence on the catalog. By refusing to contribute to, bump, or create comic book threads, the comic book reading population has dwindled more than it should have. You can pin all the blame on the diminishing quality of comics, but we all know niche hobbies can be maintained even past the hobby's death. You can pin the blame on the lax moderation, but we all know how effective brute force is. Obviously, you should not fully blame yourself either, but some of you have gone out of your way to be uncooperative and petty towards your fellow comic book readers. The blood is on your hands. Now, the enemy has taken the castle.May you know it! May you know it!
>>154246313Why would you want it to die? These are some of the only good threads
>>154247880Nta, but if the board isn't going to recover the comics side, I'd rather it die entirely instead of remaining in this half-dead state, so I can stop coming to this dogshit site forever. This is no way to live.
>>154243117Glad Black Jack is getting reprinted
I picked up the Legends of the Dark Knight: Jose Luis Garcia Lopez hardcover (which, granted, looks pretty great) because the solicitation said it had Untold Legend of Batman in it and I wanted to have that in my collection in full size (I have the 3 mini-issues that came with the audio cassettes) but it turns out that only the covers were included. I'm a bit miffed about that and it looks like the only way to get Untold Legend is either the original TPB or the Len Wein Tales of the Batman hardcover which is way too expensive on the secondary market.
>>154248479You could just stop coming here if you don't like it, anon. No one is putting a gun to your head.
Only got two things since last shelf, I have 3 big books waiting to get delivered next week, heres hoping they get delivered before thread dies
>>154249833Now have the entire saga, got a real hot discount for this
>>154249852As to what I'm reading, I'm about to finish my Marvel silver age read-through before taking a break and moving on to the DC bronze age
>>154249904Is that Funny Valentine?
>>154249852I'm stuck on Superman's Pal. I think I'll skip it. It's really boring.
>>154250967Yeah, bought it at a con
>>154249488Is this a joke?
>>154249435I’ve been looking a little closer at collected editions lately, since some omnis I’ve initially wanted turned out to be mostly pointless filler after checking the actual issues included. Most recently, I realized that both the JLA omnibus and Deluxe (hardcovers) are Grant Morrison specific, and skips fill-in issues and Waid’s short stint. Meanwhile the Deluxe (softcovers) collect the full series proper. Is there anything special about Untold Legend? I did pick up the Len Wein HC for a good price recently, during a Bat-buying binge, mostly because I was interested in all the different Bat Bronze Age efforts by guys I mostly know from Marvel’s Bronze Age.
>>154243125I have that Dredd issue. Bought it with a 20 I found in the parking lot of Korean Baptist church not too far from my house. First taste of body horror at 15/16
>>154251378Cool
>>154251530No?
>>154252414That reminds me; right after Eagle rebranded as Quality, they posted in their coming soon preview page that they were putting out a one shot collecting the Bolland Dark Judges stories with a wrap around cover using the iconic poster image off all four judges Bolland drew. But fir the life of me I can't fucking find it for sale anywhere. Did it actually come out or was it cancelled at the last minute?
>>154252174Dear DCReprint the Englehart/Marshall Rogers Batman book as a reasonably priced softcover (aka DC Finest)yours truly- anon
>>154252174I usually do a pretty good job scoping out what issues are in what collection and planning things out there but the Amazon description was pretty misleading. I'm used to TPBs/hardcovers that only include covers or backup stories saying things like "includes material from XYZ" The blurb from Amazon just uses "[this book] contains XYZ". I should have compared the page count to the number of stories allegedly collected though because it wouldn't even come close to adding up.>Is there anything special about Untold Legend? Not really. It released initially in 1980 but in 1989 there was a rerelease that had an audio cassette reading of it which was pretty cool:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMaW2cpMwmcThe issues that came with the rerelease were very small, basically pocket size. The series itself is a fun retread of a bunch of origin stories. In particular I enjoy the story of Thomas Wayne being 'the first Batman' when he dressed up for a costume party and operated on a gangster. The art is solid but since I only had the pocket sized issues I wanted to look it over in full size.
Did anything ever collect Secret Origins together? I loved those
>>154256249Assuming you mean the first volume from the 90s, it doesn't seem like it.There was an 11 issue relaunch in the 2010s that has two TPBs.
I hate you, /shelf/.
>>154254666Maybe they went bankrupt.
>>154254184>Kayfabe sub
>>154258024Not like I'm going unsubscribe just because Ed died...
>>154232836I think my most recent purchase was Tokyo Ghost a few weeks back. The only upcoming release for me is Hunger and the Dusk, but I should probably get the next few Fables and Radiant volumes. Also I heard there's a Requiem Chevalier Vampire omnibus now and I've always wanted to read it
>>154258061> Also I heard there's a Requiem Chevalier Vampire omnibus now Two of them so far! Though when they say "omnibus", they mean a tpb with a couple hundred pages
>>154258080Good to know, thanks anon
>>154249904>>154254184Think thats all I have. Should I count the cancelled book one? I have the final 60s X-Men issues before it got canned
>>154258768I don't see why not
>>154259495Because it got revived later?
>>154256249The 1980s Secret Origins series has never been reprinted in full.>>154252174It's basically the pre Crisis equivalent to Marvel's Grand Design in that it's a new reader friendly overview of Batman and his lore/backstory including stuff that had not made it into adaptations like Bruce's dad bat themed Halloween costume, Joe Chill being hired by a mob boss who Thomas sent to jail in said outing in costume, Joker being the Red Hood, etc.But the book's popularity REALLY exploded when DC reprinted it in multiple formats for mass retail release when the first Batman movie came out, to normies who bought it either bundled with an audio cassette book or as a cheap B&W paperback release.
>>154244300Surprised Viz isn't putting it out. Don't they do the English editions of the rest of his manga?
>>154260610Pretty much, yeah. Billy Bat was a big questionmark for a long time because there were concerns it would upset Disney or something
>>154260879Ah, that makes sense.
>>154258037same
>>154259714ah true
>>154242596What's Punderworld like?
Anyone have any insight/experience with The Folio Society? They have a neat looking Superman collection that is visually pretty nice but comes off to me as a little pretentious:https://www.foliosociety.com/usa/dc-supermanComes with some assorted issues of Superman/Action Comics going up to 1999 (Peace on Earth) with some classics including Mxyztplk's first appearance, Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow, Doomsday, and a facsimile of Superman #1.It is a bit pricey but seems like a reasonable sampler selection.
>>154264974It seems neat.
>>154264974I got the Marvel Golden Age box they did secondhand and it's pretty nice. They do a good job replicating the look of the actual comics.
>>154264974I prefer Taschen.
>>154266026Got their Weird Science release on sale and it's super nice.
>>154258061It's good! Unfortunately my copy got a bit torn up in shipping, but man is it a good read! Easily the best money I've spent
