I was going to ask why you’re here Scott, after you’ve made it clear that you don’t like this place, but I guess you answered my question.

Well this is awkward. Last thread I mentioned that Ben tagging along with Beast's science team to train his powers is weird when he could be doing it in Graymatter (>>154141259), and here he is doing exactly that. Although IIRC he’s only been able to create UFOs and aliens, so how did he learn to create fantasy-themed stuff?

The writing for Lourdes here is so weird when you realize that the last appearance she shared with Emma was taking a bullet for her in the last Hellfire Gala.

And now for Uncanny X-Men.
>>
Previously on Uncanny X-Men, the Graymalkin saga came to an end. Scurvy’s deteriorating health had allowed Inmate X - revealed to be Corinna Ellis’ brother Oscar - to begin his breakout and attempted takeover of the world by trapping the Outliers (and Mutina, for some reason) into an A.I.-generated version of a New Mutants story, while the X-Men had to deal with a fake version of the New Mutants that had been trained to kill the Avengers. As Scurvy ended up passing away, Oscar ended up possessing his body and taking control of all of the inmates of Graymalkin to recruit them to his army. Monet decided to finally call in help from Quicksilver, Banshee and the X-Men to deal with the inmates, stopping Corinna from escaping and trapping Oscar in Graymalkin by killing Scurvy. With Graymalkin now seemingly under different management, Rogue offered Monet to take over the leadership of the team along with Quicksilver in her and Gambit’s absence, as his condition caused by carrying the Eye of Power grows worse…

And now for Inglorious X-Force.

It’s the beginning of a new arc! Previously, Cable witnessed a possible future where Kamala Khan was assassinated after she had become the President of the USA. He found himself waking up after having suddenly traveled backwards in time to the present with the names of Archangel, Boom-Boom and Hellverine written on his arm, along with “one of us”. Coming to the conclusion that one of them had to be Kamala’s future assassin, he decided to create a new iteration of X-Force with them and Kamala on it, so that he can both look for the assassin and protect her at the same time. But after various missions with the team, he realizes that none of the suspects could possibly be Kamala’s assassin, but instead reinterprets the “one of us” line as the assassin could be any other mutant out there, and that they could only trust in themselves.
But what none of the team know is that Cable himself is under the influence of an unknown entity controlling him without him knowing it! And Domino, the only person who knew that something was wrong with Cable and had been secretly watching him from afar, has had her mind wiped…

And now for Magik and Colossus.
>>
Following their last meeting with each other, Magik and Colossus reunited again when the latter was wandering through Russia. Colossus tells Magik that throughout his journey he’s had to protect people from various creatures of Russian folklore attacking them, and when he encounters another one of them when the siblings revisit their old home, Magik decides to help Colossus to uncover the truth behind the attacks. Tracking the essence of one of the creatures, the siblings get to St. Petersburg before they are forcibly split by the mastermind behind the attacks: Koschei the Immortal. Koschei forces Magik to participate in an underground fight ring against Count Kaoz without access to her tools or powers, until Colossus was able to locate where the fight ring was using his knowledge of the Russian criminal underground and helped Magik and Count Kaoz to teleport out of there. Count Kaoz decides to help the siblings by reaching out to the one person who Koschei feared: Kaoz’s ex and Koschei’s sister Lada (who for some reason is erroneously believed to be Baba Yaga). Lada reveals that Koschei’s plan is to create a barrier around Russia that would block all magic except his own and that the creatures of the Russian folklore sided with him in hopes of potentially gaining his power, but Colossus had in reality been unknowingly tampering with the ritual by fighting them. The only way to prevent the ritual was to destroy the pieces of Koschei’s soul that he had spread across the country, but before they could even locate them, Koschei himself appeared and drained Lada’s energy, which was the last piece needed to cast the ritual! Can the siblings defeat the currently most powerful sorcerer in all of Russia, or will one of them be forced to make a sacrifice?

I don't know how Ewing and Gail finish these scripts and think they've written acceptable material. Ewing I can at least get being too ignorant to realize she's bad but for fuck's sake Gail has been a big name writer for well over two decades and this is what she puts out? I don't know what's worse, that she's actually trying and this is what we're getting or she's completely phoning it in leading to some of the laziest writing I've ever seen.

I honestly think this belongs in the list of WOAT Uncanny runs. Like you can kind of excuse someone like Brubaker who was mostly crime comics or Rosenberg who seemingly didn't give a shit because he knew it was being reset and didn't matter but Gail's run is inexcusably awful. I get more enjoyment from Austen's run than this garbage. What an absolutely rotten book.

We also got a ton of new stuff coming this September to share, starting with an interview with Jed MacKay about DNX, along with some solicits of the tie-ins and an advance preview of issue #1.

AIPT: Welcome back to X-Men Monday, Jed! Clearly, you’ve been building toward the story at the heart of DNX since X-Men#1, but the Fantastic Four’s role in it is certainly a surprise (especially considering all the work you did to cement the X-Men’s bond with your Avengers team). Was the crossover with Marvel’s First Family always the plan, or something that came out of Tom Brevoort’s oversight of both the FF and the X-Men, perhaps?

>Jed MacKay: Well, we started thinking about what would become DNX in the early stages of planning Age of Revelation once we realized that one should lead into the other, and at that point in time, the plan was to have DNX be a crisis handled jointly between the X-Men and the Avengers, as I was writing both. However, publishing plans changed in the intervening period and my time on Avengers ended, so we pivoted to involving the Fantastic Four instead (which, given the nature of DNX, worked out pretty well).

AIPT: Obviously, DNX shares some DNA with the Age of Revelation, given the X-Virus’ role in both events. X-Fan Ariel wonders if Doug Ramsey (aka Revelation, aka the original architect of the X-Virus) will play any part in DNX?

>Jed: Doug will have a part to play, though it will be minor compared to Age of Revelation—AOR explored a potential future where Doug Ramsay made a terrible mistake, while DNX follows an attempt at usurping that future by 3K.

AIPT: Speaking of Age of Revelation—what can X-Fans expect in terms of tie-ins? AOR’s impact was quite widespread, even spilling beyond the X-line. Will DNX be similar, or on a smaller scale, given it’s an event series?
>>
File: DNX2026001003c_col-scaled.jpg (1.11 MB, 1686x2560)
1.11 MB JPG
>Jed: No, DNX is pretty tight—AOR was depicting a whole changed world, and there was a lot of space to explore there. In contrast, DNX has a very tight focus on our characters and their conflicts over a very short time. Aside from the DNX event series, the tie-ins will be the issues of X-Men and Fantastic Four that come out in those months.

AIPT: OK, so it’s clear Magneto’s condition will be a central element of DNX’s overall story. X-Fan Ace Tactician says we’ve seen Magneto cycle through many distinct eras—from a villain and a revolutionary to a statesman on Krakoa, and now a survivor fighting a complex biological threat. As your X-Men run progresses into its next major phase, what central thesis or side of Max’s complex philosophy are you most excited to explore?

>Jed: I think the work Al Ewing did with Magneto is extremely interesting, and we’ve touched on it a bit—that Magneto has transcended the limitations of his initial philosophy of gene war and instead looks at disassembling structures of oppression, regardless of who the oppressed are. Of course, before he can get back to any such pursuits, he has a great deal of difficulty ahead of him first.

AIPT: X-Fan Hermes says, “MacKay, my GOAT!” First, Hermes has been enjoying your work in X-Men and is very excited for this event. What can you share about the dynamics between the X-Men and the Fantastic Four? For example, between Psylocke and the Invisible Woman, who are two mother figures.

>Jed: We’ll see some serious discourse between Beast and Reed—Beast needs help that Reed doesn’t want to give for reasons that will become clear. Writing the verbal maneuvering between the two has been a lot of fun, as has working with Sue, Ben, and Johnny, who I’ve written very little of in my career thus far.
>>
File: DNX2026001006_col-scaled.jpg (1.04 MB, 1686x2560)
1.04 MB JPG
AIPT: X-Fan and Battle of the Atom co-host Adam Reck is curious about the Chairman’s current white form. Is it the result of continued self-experimentation (à la Hank’s transition to his furry form), an additional mutation (à la Bendis Beast), consuming Kick/Sublime (à la Morrison New X-Men), a result of harnessing his sorcerer powers (à la Hallum and Bunn’s All-New Beast), or something wildly different?

>Jed: The Chairman’s current form is a continued expression of his goals and how he aims to achieve them. When he first appeared with 3K, he inhabited a synthetic body, as he didn’t want to be encumbered with the various chemical and hormonal distractions that accompany a biological body. However, after spending time in future-Hank’s body during the Age of Revelation, the Chairman came to see that line of thought as a mistake and cloned himself into a new body in order to fully embrace the mutant condition.

AIPT: X-Fan BenLiuRedditFan says Ben Liu wasn’t in the Age of Revelation event, and that made them sad. Then, BenLiuRedditFan saw the cool connecting covers for the DNX event, and Ben Liu wasn’t in it. Will BenLiuRedditFan see Ben Liu do cool things during DNX? Shocking no one, BenLiuRedditFan really likes this character. (And worth noting X-Fan ProphetIdyll also hopes Ben gets a push similar to Animalia!)

>Jed: Ben will be getting some spotlight starting in X-Men #31, and will carry that into DNX. He’s been pretty low-profile for a while, but DNX will be a big turning point for Ben.

AIPT: X-Fans Duck with a hat and Isaiah Meehan are both wondering when we might see the new Hellions again. They haven’t been seen since X-Men #10—might they show up again during the DNX event?

>Jed: They will not, but they’re always in my back pocket. I like this group of Hellions a lot (I have a shocking amount of affection for the Bedlam brothers), I just haven’t found the right spot to bring in a whole extra team of mutants lately.
>>
File: DNX2026001010_col-scaled.jpg (1.22 MB, 1686x2560)
1.22 MB JPG
AIPT: Of course, many X-Fans asked if several specific X-characters will appear in DNX. As I’m sure you don’t want to spoil anything this early, could you just share whether X-Fans should look forward to additional mutants (beyond your established X-Men cast) joining the battle with 3K?

>Jed: There is a surprise guest that people have been asking about coming up in an issue of X-Men during DNX, but I’ll leave it at that.

AIPT: Finally, you’ve said this event will “transform the X-Men dramatically.” So first, X-Fan Cycat asks how this event will challenge Cyclops in ways we haven’t seen recently, especially mentally or emotionally. And second, X-Fan Muhammad is wondering what you can tease about the X-Men in the wake of DNX.

>Jed: DNX is seeing Cyclops and the Chairman going head to head, pitting their differing philosophies for the future of mutantkind against one another, and that’s going to take a heavy toll on each of them. And as for the larger team, we’re going to be seeing some big changes in the team moving forward post-DNX.

And then we got the obligatory Deadpool crossover, which was destined to happen sooner or later.
>Wade Wilson and Frank Castle are going head-to-head. Don’t get in their way.

>To celebrate 616 Day, Marvel Comics proudly unveils “BIG GUNS,” a four-part crossover kicking off this September in Benjamin Percy and Geoff Shaw’s Wade Wilson: Deadpool (2026) and Percy and José Luis Soares Punisher (2026). Both acclaimed runs have returned Marvel’s two trigger-happy icons to their roots with uncompromising, no-holds-barred storytelling, aligning the fates for this dangerous and ultra-violent showdown!

>The saga kicks off when Deadpool’s latest mess puts him in the crosshairs of the Punisher. Just as the Merc with a Mouth takes on one of the most high-stakes jobs of his career, Frank Castle seeks to settle the score—igniting a relentless clash of bullets, bloodshed, and mayhem that neither man will walk away from unscathed!

>“When you're writing The Punisher, and you're writing Deadpool—two street-level characters with opposite personalities—the math works itself out,” Percy said. “I had to bring them together. Violently. Get ready for non-stop mayhem, the re-invention (and glow-up) of a classic villain, and the introduction of the Merc-mobile (a rolling HQ I'm pretty damn excited about) as well as a new weapon that will change the 616 forever. Unlike Frank and Wade—who naturally despise each other—Geoff Shaw and José Luis are a perfect pairing, the best pens drawing the biggest guns.”

And lastly, we got a Gambit solo set in the present(!), that’s also…the aftermath of X-Men of Apocalypse?
>What kind of hero is the X-Man Gambit for the Marvel U? What kind of husband for Rogue? What kind of man is he... for himself? Those are the kind of questions begging answers, and those are the kinds of answers you will be getting in a new solo series debuting this fall from Marvel Comics.

>Gambit: Gone, by writer Steve Orlando (The Marauders, Midnighter) and artists Eduardo Aoudino (Moonstar) and Gerardo Sandoval (Spider-Man & Wolverine), will catch up as Gambit (and the Marvel U) deal with the fact that there are now two Gambits running around. Picking up from the recent X-Men of Apocalypse event (and ahead of its August Omega finale!), this five-issue Gambit series will feature twin narratives of the two Remy LeBeau (or is that Remy LeTwos?) that will come to intertwine as the series climaxes.

>"Following up on the ending of Jeph Loeb and Simone Di Meo’s X-Men of Apocalypse took me off-guard in the best way!" says Orlando in the announcement. "I was lucky enough to work with the Cajun in X-Men Infinity--and we got on famously. The charisma, the pot-stirring, the swagger and confidence enlivened every scene he was in! For me, it's been that way since I first met him in 1992. So to find out we'd have not one, but TWO Gambits, well...I just had to roll the dice."

>Gambit: Gone #1 (of 5) goes on sale September 2.

ALIEN VS. X-MEN #1 (OF 4)

Written by KIERON GILLEN & CHRIS CLAREMONT

Art by GERALDO BORGES & MORE

Cover by RYAN STEGMAN

Variant Cover by IVAN SHAVRIN

On Sale 9/16

Marvel’s mutants are about to face one of science fiction’s deadliest species.

Marvel Comics and 20th Century Studios have announced Alien vs. X-Men, a new crossover event launching this September that brings the X-Men into direct conflict with the terrifying Xenomorphs.

Following the success of Alien vs. Avengers, Marvel is once again merging its superhero universe with the iconic horror franchise. The new series is written by Kieron Gillen and illustrated by Geraldo Borges, with an additional four-part backup story from legendary X-Men writer Chris Claremont.

The main story begins when the X-Men embark on a mission to recover a Phoenix egg. Instead, they return to Earth carrying something far more dangerous. What follows is a brutal clash between mutants and Xenomorphs, placing the future of the team in jeopardy as the alien threat spreads.

Gillen, a longtime fan of the Alien franchise, said the project fulfills a lifelong dream.

I don't mind Uncanny, even if it's really slow. I'm just surprised that the plots are so scattershot. Slow burn is a favorite of mine but not if it doesn't lead anywhere. And then we got more Logan appearances.

>This September, the march to Hulk War advances with the devastating defeat of Marvel’s greatest heroes!

>Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Nic Klein’s acclaimed run of Infernal Hulk—where the ancient evil known as the Eldest has taken over Hulk’s body—leads into HULK WAR, the epic crossover event coming early 2027. But first, the series undergoes a transformation following Infernal Hulk (2025) #10 in August, as the Infernal Hulk clashes with Marvel’s heroes and assembles an army of corrupted, monstrous champions across a series of explosive one-shots that serve as the penultimate chapters of the Infernal Saga.

>Written by Johnson, the one-shots launch in September with INFERNAL HULK VS. WOLVERINE #1, featuring art by Marvel’s Stormbreaker Jonas Scharf (Ultimate Endgame), and continue through December with INFERNAL HULK VS. FANTASTIC FOUR #1, INFERNAL HULK VS. SPIDER-MAN #1, and INFERNAL HULK VS. THE AVENGERS #1. Each one-shot delivers a brutal victory that brings Infernal Hulk one smash closer to remaking the Marvel Universe in his twisted image.
>>
>THE MARCH TO HULK WAR RUNS THROUGH WOLVERINE! When the X-Men learn the location of mutants abducted and corrupted by Infernal Hulk, the deadliest X-Man vows to free them... by the most violent means necessary. The march to Hulk War begins, as the Father of Horrors faces the Marvel Universe's perfect killing machine!
>>
>“MARCH TO HULK WAR kicks off the final act of our story that Nic Klein and I started with Incredible Hulk #1 in 2023,” Johnson explained. “It's a series of one-shot battles between Infernal Hulk and Earth’s mightiest heroes, as Hulk gathers his terrifying Infernal Avengers for HULK WAR. The one-shots features one of the most epic rivalries in comics, Infernal Hulk Vs. Wolverine, and an ending that I'm expecting to shock some people.”

>“The most fun aspect of this series were rereading old Marvel battles, reminding myself what’s been done and how hard we’ve been willing to go in the past,” he continued. “Be advised: there were discussions about how violent we could go with these one-shots. I want to keep ramping up the horror vibe of the Hulk series, and for our readers to see things in these one-shots they’ve never seen before. On both counts, I promise we’ll deliver.”

>“An absolute knockout of a fight comic with unrelenting action, real emotional stakes, and Phillip firing off twist after twist without ever letting the reader catch their breath,” Editor Mark Paniccia promises. “And Jonas' art makes you literally feel each punch, kick, cut, slash and stab. Just a savage issue!”

Speaking of Jean, kinda surprised they didn't have a new book series for her to continue like Storm did despite how both kinda became the poster child for Marvel/X-men's strong women. >>
>>154269273
You know Scott and Emma broke up about 5 years before Jean even came back, right? They didn't trade one awful pairing for the other.

>>154270599
I think they had the idea for doing the heroine solo books but had no idea what to do for most of them, Marvel can't or won't go all-in on just doing cheesecake books, and editorial are stuck doing a balancing act trying to appease different segments of fandom on Twitter. In Jean's case we got an attempt to manage the divide between people who actually like her and want to see her do cool stuff and not just be someone's love interest, against the people who don't want her around at all, usually for Cyclops-shipping reasons or because she was dead when they started reading. Sending her out into space to do cosmic stuff makes sense as a compromise, it's just that the actual craft of doing a cosmic Marvel book or doing a heroine book seems to have been lost.
>>
>>154256557
It's so odd that M and Quicksilver had a random hookup in a mini about 3 years ago and somehow they're still together and two characters who are famously abrasive get on fine with each other.
>>
>>154264349
My only reason for reading this book is out of the hope they'll have Betsy do something WITHOUT Rachel, or even better, reveal they broke up off-panel.

>>154268390
Ewing sucks balls and it's amazing they let Exceptional last more than 10 issues while most everything else in From the Ashes got cancelled at 10. Giving her an extension of the series was even more batshit. It's been boring... all the characters do is stand around talking half the time.
>>
>>154269273
They were broken up becauase editors and creatives of the time didn't like the Scott/Emma relationship because they associated Emma with the Hellfire Club and Dark Phoenix Saga and not things like Generation X so considered her spot as a good guy unearned. Rivals pulls from a lot of 2000s stuff presumably because of Sumerak since that's when he came in as an editor and later writer. Like Hood is going to be in seemingly and that's a book he edited. So I would guess he's a Scott/Emma guy eince his time at Marvel coincided with that relationship.
>>
>>154271031
They got broken up during AvX in 2012, you're blaming it on an editorial regime that came in years afterwards.
>>
>>154270851
The concept of the Storm and Phoenix books seemed reversed where Phoenix should have been dealing with shit like Eternity while Storm should have been lower stakes. I'm not opposed to a Phoenix book in principle but who would you trust to do the kind of existential and contemplative space opera ala Starlin or Englehart that a book starring the host of an all-powerful cosmic force would require?
>>
>>154271087
I'm blaming it on people like Lowe, Bendis and Aaron. Guys like White doubled down later.

The sales charts we have now aren't that reliable, but what there is shows Phoenix stayed in the top 100 for 11 of it's 15 issues, there's no way that was the worst-selling 'ongoing' book of the line, or a character who has no fans at all.
>>
>>154273616
Eh its part of the whole development of Emma to be one of the most caring for the students that she steps away from her villain status and also why Scott would bother picking her in the first place.

Also reminder that Jean and Logan were actually making out where Scott and Emma saw them before the whole "therapy" came underway.
>>
>>154271996
Their final separation was less "moved on" and more "Pietro went crazy and became a villain for a few years because Marvel are stupid and evil". The writer that started this planned a resolution where Quicksilver is redeemed and they end up together again, but Marvel chose to just abandon the cliffhanger ending of Silent War and send the Inhumans into space for War of Kings instead.
>>
>>154273696
>the whole development of Emma

Personally I just think the setup looks awkward and makes Logan look like even more of a deadbeat. Like mom and dad are living with their kids, and then there's the guy who nobody in the house seems to get along with but who's ostensibly fucking the mom. It just looks like an unpleasant situation. But then there's the fact that he's got his own kids that he's apparently left to raise themselves while he's living with this other family. And that part honestly makes him look like an asshole, plain and simple.

If I'm looking at this and trying to be sympathetic to Wolverine's character, I think I'd still say it reflects poorly on him.
